Born and raised in Wheeling, WV here. Thanks for not being TOO harsh about our many potholes 😂 Most folks live on the outskirts and the Downtown is a little worse for wear unfortunately. Great series! I would love to see that National Road trip in the future as well.
Fort Steuben was interesting; glad you went back next day. Fascinating how people lived back then. Fun fact: My friend Randy’L Teton was the model used for the Sacajawea Coin. She is from the Shoshone-Bannock tribe just like Sacajawea.
23:12 "A long way to go!" Yes, even driving, it's a long way to the Pacific. So glad to see you've had a chance to publish these videos on Lewis and Clark--been looking forward to getting your impressions.
Robert...I just made a cup of coffee and got on my chair 💺 in front of the TV 📺 and it feels that I am riding in your truck's passenger seat...cruising our beautiful 🇺🇸...thanks for these awesome videos 📹!
Robert you have a great singing voice!!! I can tell you were in a band before. Went to Mackinac Island last week n had a great time!!! Love history so I am definitely checking out your Lewis n Clark segments!!! Attaboy, Robert!!!
Thank you for a very, very relaxing Sunday morning. And, Thank you for covering the eastern portion of the voyage. As a youth, while living in NE Montana, we studied Lewis and Clark in 4th grade history for 6 weeks. That account and most others I've read since don't provide much information on the eastern portion of the journey. Instead, they more or less pick up the story in St. Louis at the confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi rivèrs
Enjoying your Lewis and Clark Journey, I live in north central Ohio, and according to my late mother's genealogical research, I am related to both Lewis and Clark. My grandmother's maiden name is Lewis. Looking forward to you traveling their route!!
Wow, it’s cool to see you spending time in my hometown Steubenville. Actually, I traveled through there recently. Even went across market street bridge. Which I hadn’t done since I was a youth. It’s definitely a shell of its former self, but the memories are still there. 👍🏾✊🏾 Go BIG RED!!!
I thought I had subscribe to your channel as I scroll just pushed it again still one of our fav channels we can't all travel like you do that makes your channel one of the best
Being from the Parkersburg, WV and Marietta, OH area, thank you for showing a bit of beautiful, historic Marietta even if you couldn't stop! I highly recommend Marietta as being worth a trip! Great video!
Were following the Ohio River scenic Byway and the Lewis and Clark auto tour. A great view of the Ohio River is in Leavenworth, Indiana overlooking horseshoe bend from way above the river from an overlook next to a great looking restaurant called the Overlook on Rt 62/66 just a mile or so off Interstate 64 west of Louisville, KY
Another great video! Was great to hear some of your older original music in the video. It made me go back and watch your Driving to the West videos. That was the series that brought my wife and I to your great videos. I listen to your podcast and hear the voicemails from people telling you how much they enjoy the videos, we agree 100%. Keep up the great work!
STEUBEN is an historic name widespread, it seems. FROM THERE, back to Albany, NY and maybe elsewhere.... He must have been a notable person/family back then that we had never really learned about.
“The Point of Beginning”, as the sign says. The east coast history is so great to see. And even if the weather is dreary, the content is not! The best thing about this, and as I see others have done, is that you can always “Google it” to go beyond the point of interest introductions that you give. Started college but never finished in part due to my wandering brain. But that doesn’t mean we can’t keep learning in our own way, right? I can watch one of these episodes and repeat sections I want to know more about or tag for future look-ups so I can retain it. Love to learn. Cool stuff. Tossing a pat on the back your way for presenting a nice way to start the week this morning. Goes great with coffee…Thank you!❣️
A way to remember those restraints you seen at Fort Steuben there are 2 the one you are standing up, you put your head in the center slot and your arms in slots on each side these are called Pillars, a way to remember is pillars and the word pillow ,for the head.and there are ones you are on the ground with both feet in 2 slots they lock it down over the feet these are called Stocks, the way to remember is Stocks, Stockings for the feet, Sir in Pittsburgh alone there is a ton of history from the beginning of our Country. Great video Thank You, mucho Gracias.
Hey Robert I've been watching your videos for quite awhile and they are all great. Sometime you should make your way up to the Sleeping bear dunes national lakeshore, the lake Michigan shoreline and also the Traverse City area in Northern lower Michigan.
Robert, we are on a little trip from Ohio following the Ohio river to the Mississippi and down the Mississippi to Memphis. If your following the Ohio river a great section is from Lawrenceburg, Indiana on the west bank of the Ohio River to Madison, In. Beautiful historic river towns , including Lawrenceburg, Aurora, Rising Sun, Vevay in Switzerland County and Madison on routes 50, 56 and especially Indiana 156.
Nice seeing your video.. Brightens my day.. I luv your music, & watching the beginning & end of the videos!! Oh Ya, the content was good too. haha.. Cheers..
Hello Traveling Robert 😊😊🎸🎸🍔🍔, I have drivin sections of the the Ohio River Byway and it's so scenic. I can't wait to see what's next for next week. OUTSTANDING VIDEO ROBERT!
I’d enjoy some of your soundtracks. The music you make especially in the ambiance of a scene. If possible please reach out and I’ll support. Thanks for all of the lovely videos Asere que bola!
The original first marker in east Liverpool is actually in the Ohio river. The dams raised the river level dramatically. *Also: West Virginia owns the Ohio river along the West Virginia-Ohio border. Ohio only owns 6 feet of the river from the Ohio shore
Robert thank you for visiting our area and doing a video on Lewis and Clark always enjoy watching your videos and was in the area home town of Dean Martin
As this video opens, at 0:02, it nearly misses the historical marker in downtown Pittsburgh of Meriwether Lewis’ point of departure, where his journal begins. The marker is at the intersection of 11th Street and Fort Duquesne Boulevard. It is located along the Allegheny River, under the railroad bridge at 0:56. Side note - The Beaver Valley Bowling Center seen at 4:30 was used for scenes in the movies “Kingpin” (Woody Harelson, Bill Murray, Randy Quaid) and “Wonder Boys” (Michael Douglas, Frances McDormand, Tobey McGuire, Robert Downey Jr.)
You passed through my home town area. Born in Moundsville and lived in Wheeling. I have family still there. My uncle was mayor of Moundsville and gave prison tours after that. They say it's quite haunted. Once we lived in Ohio, we traveled rt 2 and rt 7 frequently to visit family. Yes, the Ohio River valley is often overcast due to the surrounding hills trapping the wind currents and moisture. It's also cleaner than it used to be with many polluting industries along the river that are better now. I never knew of its history of the Lewis travels. I'm actually a distant relative of his from my mothers side. PS: Also make a note to explore Oglebay Park near Wheeling, a beautiful area. They have cabins, not sure any RV sites.
Very interesting the travel the Lewis & Clark.I really that enjoy this aventure. You are you doing a great job. Congrats...... Be safe.... and I see you on the road.....Love.... MOM...>>>
I love your mom❤️ Such a great family! Thank you for sharing your adventures with us, I learn so much! We hope to follow your advice for our next roadtrips!
Very nice video and it is a shame I never made the drive along the Ohio River as you are doing so I’ll sit back and enjoy your presentation over the coming weeks. As far is cilantro is concerned, yup, it does make food taste great. I live on the opposite side of the big marble and it’s used quite a bit here for the same reason although it is called _pak chee_ here.
Everything were shot so high quality level. Thank you Robert. I watch all of your videos. It’s very interesting for me. I learn English and I get to know new places. We are going to move in Florida. In Fort Mayers. Have you ever been to Fort Myers? Thanks a lot!!!
I think we have twice the number of sunny days here in northern Virginia compare to the Ohio valley which isn’t that far away. I think the Great Lakes are part of the cause especially in the winter.
You went right by my hometown, but it didn’t make the cut. I travel 65 to Pittsburgh a couple times a week. . Next time stop at Old Economy, the last settlement of the Harmonist Society in Ambridge right on the Ohio River.
Virginia (now West Virginia) owns the Ohio River, not Ohio. Virginia ceded territory northwest of the river, but kept the river. The states tri-point is actually on the Ohio side of the river.
Robert. Some pointers Of interest. Ft Wayne IN old fort. Fort recovery Ohio old fort. The great serpent mounds of Ohio and chilocothee Ohio mounds. Anderson Indiana mounds state park. Also Ohio Indian mounds off I 71 north of Cincinnati on rd 123 don’t take the camper on that rd tho. It all fits in with this theme. Also there is a ft off us 24 west of Toledo Ohio. And river raisin fort north of Toledo they all tie together somehow from war of 1812
Happy Sunday Robert! With this episode it feels like we're truly underway. After seeing the teapot I wonder how many "world's largest" roadside attractions you could rack up on a trip like this. That could be the theme of a whole other trip! I love the birdsong in the morning at your campsite, that's one of my favourite things about camping. Really looking forward to following along as the journey West continues. Happy trails! O h, by the way, was that a red light you drove through at 12:07? (just kidding!)
Great video as always Robert, thanks Check out Cahokia Mounds area in Collinsville, Illinois minutes from St Louis, MO. many mounds, a park and interpretive center, museum and gift shop that you can spend hours in. Not to be missed if you are interested in history of the American Indian. Great web site also!
Being from the general area, there is a lot of poverty. Many of those factories and chemical plants you see have caused a lot of serious health issues as well. So a double whammy of poverty and bad health leads to a lot of drug issues. 😪
I have a suggestion for you, how about going to Alaska? Us Americans who have never been to Canada can see what its like, and then experience Alaska itself. Or maybe Hawaii?
Great video, as always! I graduated from Franciscan University of Steubenville in 2006. Question for you or any of your viewers - what is that object buckled up on your back seat? It seems to have been there for awhile And I’m wondering if it’s some sort of running joke/gag, or maybe it’s precious cargo as a gift? In any case, really enjoy your videos!

I am enjoying this series on Lewis and Clark. I look forward to each one!
Good morning! ☕ I say if I had to do a report on Lewis and Clark expedition. I would receive an A+ ,by watching your videos. 😊 your the best Robert!
The editing and storytelling is the best!
Robert still riding. Love your adventures sir.
