Thank you for your reaction! Dimash’s talent is mind blowing 🤯 A'Studio was invited by Igor Krutoy to participate (individual concert) in the 2018 edition of the New Wave festival. Igor Krutoy, the man in white shirt giving his standing ovation, invited Dimash to participate in this festival in the same year. "Sinful Passion" was created in 1998. This is how the song was performed, exactly in the 20th anniversary of this song. It speaks of greater love, greater loss, greater despair, greater desire, greater passion. The loss or lack of this love, in Dimash's interpretation, has the dimension of a loss of life, which one is very anxious to restore. In place of the original purely pop instrumental part (inserts), Dimash included (after the last chorus) his vocalize, a stylized onomatopoeic (like a lament) eastern ornament and the words "дай мне, дай" (give me, give me) with a 23-second melismatic on the last syllable, which is not a simple substitute for a pop musical theme, but an extension of the story sung earlier in words. ❤️🎤🔝🌹🌹👏👏👏

The man in the white shirt standing up clapping is the famous Russian composer Maestro Igor Krutoy. He was retired because he said that there were no more voices he would like to compose for. But when he heard Dimash, he came back from retirement and they entered into fruitful cooperation. He has already written for him many masterpieces like Olimpico (Ogni Pietra), Passione, Know, Your Love, Were Love Lives, and many older songs Dimash gave a new life (Love is Like a Dream, Love of Tired Swans and others.

And then there's this guy who makes an analysis of basically every single note Dimash makes, in two half-hour-long videos. Well done!

It is called bleeding, and it is usually in folk music and middle eastern,
Baltic music. Dimash likes to incorporate all sounds into his music. Dimash is a prodigy and this is a gift from God that he has only
    worked it too it's perfection.Dimash
practices singing three hours a day.
He has his masters degree in composing and lyrical writing, he is
going to finish with his doctorate.
Dimash is very humbled, kind ,he is
so generous and what is most important ,Dimash is loving,he loves
all people of all ages ,race, there is no difference between you or a man or woman in a hospital or some
homeless shelter, the rich guy living
on his own Island. For a young man
like Dimash he truly sees himself as
an equal to all other human beings.
He is old fashioned is how young people might call it, he believes that
children are the future and he loves children deeply, in the exact
way he feels about his elders, his
    parents,grandparents they as one
unit travel as a family as much as they can for Dimashs concerts. When
Dimash sings a song that are specific
to what he likes and how it makes him feel,in this way Dimash is able too share who he is as a young man
through his gift of singing this is why
Dimash cannot be boxed in some type of category for music because
he has a respect for all types of music. This is why he is a prodigy.
Dimash is deeply loved all around the world, I finally saw him December 10th,he sang in New Yorks
Barclay center .I can't find words
for what every person was feeling
because the vibrations of the feeling
    of the place,moments,the time,the
amount of people, people from age
twelve, to teenagers, the young adults, middle aged, and seniors.
This is extremely important as it is
difficult for any singer to accomplish because of singers who
    fit in a box,meaning ,the opera,pop,
    Classical music, folk music, Egyptian
    middle eastern Baltic music, R&B,
funky dance pop music, like the
Singer Michael Jackson who was an
    idol for Dimash growing up.
    Dimash still loves Michael Jackson,
he wrote a song that would be a song
that Michael himself would have wrote and sang. Dimash can dance
like Michael Jackson, and if that's
not enough Dimash can also Rap and it is smooth as if that's all he does as an artist. Too see and too
experience Dimash live is and will be
the best experience I ever had,the
love in one huge building with a crowd of one hundred thousand people who have respect for the people who are sitting next to them
When Dimash performs, he has a gift that he doesn't need dancers
all the other added details put into
    Dimashs concerts,Dimash would still
sell out not just because he can sing
or how he sings, or his techniques, or
because of the songs, it is all of the
Man himself and the complete package that is all of what is a part
of him as a man just so happens to be expressed through songs.
If you haven't yet had the experience that you will hear a song
but you can't understand the words
yet you know exactly what the song means and what it is about through
Dimashs personality and who he is
and feels as a man.Dimash will
have some song that will affect you
in this way also,it will reach the core
of your very soul, and he will bring you too tears because you have entered a space you haven't visited within yourself for a long time,or
a place of rawness from an experience you're going through, or
have already been through. It is
also that you happen to be young
enough that you experience the raw
tenderness of your soul that you are just now feeling that you have
and never felt before,no matter where one is in life,Dimash will reach right into your soul.I know
this is Dimashs purpose in life,he was born with this Gift,so young
yet so wise like an old soul.Dimash
    also has a commanding presence
many many young men have found
Dimash and they are emulating him
imagine what a responsibility this is
most artist don't have a clue that
they really need to watch what they do and say because of others that
look up too that artist, Dimash knows instinctively because he is
very spiritual and loves God and
Believes in the laws that God has
put down for us .In a concert with
Dimash, one hundred thousand people in one huge building, when
Dimash sings, you can hear a pin drop because of his commanding
    presence of vulnerability,love, and
    respect for his fans.Dimash also
will make the time towards the last
45 min to hour in his concert going into his fans and being with them and among them singing, and Dimash has body guards, yet there isn't a time that I have heard of or seen where people pulled on Dimash or overwhelmed him by not granting
him space on the contrary they do
shake his hand, give him space.
Dimash can also get everyone to
begin singing his songs as soon as he asks them if they will sing together.
It is incredible and this word cannot do the justice of the man himself or the electricity of the experience.
I am sure that you understand what I am talking about because I
have watched the way you examine him and I know that you also can
feel that it's more than that it's
    Him,it's Dimash.I don't know if you
knew this but Dimash plays the piano, electric guitar, drums, the two
string lute and a few more, and he
speaks five languages fluently and he sings in approximatly twelve.
I hope and pray that you and your family are safe. God bless you,and I am happy seeing your expressions.
Maybe one afternoon, if you have some time look at the reactions you
    see watching others react.
    🎚🕊 Sister Lori-Ann.

Hello! :) I can't tell you how much I looove your video analyses! :) They are so amazingly detailed, thank you veeery much! :) Because you asked for the name of this ethnic vocalisation he does there: Dimash's father (who is a also member of his professional team) was once asked about it and he said it was a Yakutian riff. The Yakuts are the indigenous population (and nowadays ethnic minority)of/ in the North-Eastern Russian region Sakha (formally known as Yakutia). I had never heard about Yakutian ("ancient") ethnic music before and decided to look it up when I heard about it. It's reaaally amazing what they do and sth so unusual, they really do things with the voice I had never heard before. Listening to this kind of takes you to a different world. They are for example really good in imitating sounds of nature with their voice, and they also play mouth harp, it's really interestig. I also found examples of that riff shown by Dimash here, but he does it much faster than usual). Thank you so much, I really hope to see more Dimash reactions from you :) Best wishes from Estonia

Thank you for the gift of analyzing in depth of Dimash's performance. It makes me understand better his talent, for which I thank you once again! In his notes mr Muhtar M says that the ethnic riff is an improvisation of 'zhoktau' ( weeping) - crying for a departed person, a traditional Kazakh grief singing for a departed person. On stage is the band A-Studio, the original creators of the song. The lead singer passed away in 2015. The riff was an omage to him! (I apologize for my english, my mother language is greek). Hopefully I will see more Dimash reactions from you, sir. That special tribal riff was achieved by vibrating the larynx and is something practiced in Kazakhstan, Mongolia and other parts of Asia. This particular one was based on an Irkutsk folk style. Further youtubers have commented that it is used some parts of the Middle East. It is also referred to as a "glottal stop" and used in English when we say "uh oh". A Kazakh youtuber commented: Dimash used singing kazakh technique, that called 'komeymen aytu', You can hear it from the Turan Group. That seems to be a rumor though spread by someone who has nothing to do with Dimash in a comment section on YT who just assumed that it's probably Kazakh. Here's a story for you ☺️. When we visited Dimash's high school in Aktobe last summer, his teacher Mr. Marat Aitimov told us that he actually also thought Di's mother when she was studying to become an opera singer. That was during the time she was pregnant with Dimash. Since she is a soprano,so that's what he was hearing from her belly for hours on end every day. It's no surprise to me that he's so comfortable singing soprano notes 😃. It's actually quite humbling imo, that the same teacher tought the mother and then the child. He has known Dimash since before he was born, literally. The the progression from unborn to newborn, to what we witness today is just mind blowing for me 🤷. He must be beyond proud with him. 💙💙💙

Besides, you have an inmense repertoire to watch from 2017 when he participated in the chinese contest "The Singer": SOS, Adagio, Ópera 2, Hello, Show must go on, Confessa+Diva Dance, Daididau, Unforgettable Day, etc.

The boy's a viewer magnet! Great analysis once again! Isn't interesting that , when presented with a voice like this, songwriters that write like 1970's Michel Legrand start coming out of the woodwork to write for him. Maybe Mr. Krutoy and and Dimash can bring Melody back!!
BTW, the style he is hinting at a bit is Ala Turka. In the Middle East the scale sets and ornaments are known as makam. In India they are gamak. There are So many variants in each style. It is a Deep hole for a western vocalist/musician to go down, but it is quite fascinating. In both instances it is the vocalist's attempt to mimic sounds made by traditional instruments. See below for a Really spot on and specific description, too. You learn something new every day! Believe me, I've only barely scratched the surface myself!😳

I really enjoy your reactions to Dimash, I have been his fan for 3 years and I am very proud that singing professionals like you analyze his voice and marvel at the wonderful singer that Dimash is. The pianist and guitarists belong to the Russian band A'Studio, who composed and released "Sinful Passion" in 1998. New arrangements were made especially for Dimash's voice and were featured as guests at the opening of the International Contest of Young Pop Singers, in New Wave Hall, at Sochi in 2018. The man who gets up to applaud him at the end is the famous Russian composer Igor Krutoy, who since he discovered Dimash has taken him under his cover and made a wonderful dumbbell, Igor Krutoy returned to compose especially for Dimash, for example "Ogni Pietra" and recently "Your Love", in addition Dimash has performed past great hits by Krutoy and amazed the original singers themselves with his voice and way of performing.

From what you said about his pianissimo/dreamy head voice, I think you would appreciate his performance of the French rock-opera song S.O.S. at the Slavic Bazaar: ua-cam.com/video/W29zEuZVaxs/v-deo.html
P.S. that was a 23 second run he did, one of his longest ever notes! There's a compilation video with a bunch of his longest notes, mostly from much earlier in his career on international tv shows etc. And the guy in the white shirt that stands up at the end is Russian composer Igor Krutoy, who wrote Ogni Pietra (and other songs) specifically for Dimash!

Love your reaction and analysis! Did you catch that last run going up and then down was in one breath?
That special tribal run was achieved by vibrating the larynx and is something practiced in Kazakhstan, Mongolia and other parts of Asia. Further youtubers have commented that it is used some parts of the Middle East and is similar to yodeling. It is also referred to as a "glottal stop" and used in English when we say "uh oh". A Kazakh youtuber commented: Dimash used singing kazakh technique, that called 'komeymen aytu'. The band that was playing is the original band that created the song, and the lead singer died a while back and Dimash did that "tribal" run as a tribute to him. Dimash has written 5-6 songs since he was 17... so He lives, and breathes for Music. And he is extremely humble, and spiritual, and loves his family and his Country and Culture! watch some of the interviews he's given that have English subs and you can see what a well rounded personality he has and understand why we all love him sooo much - not just for his singing ! Learn to use the subtitles on YT videos as you will be exposed to Kazakh and Russian, and Chinese and other languages. Even though we all know that he transmits through his voice and we all get it even without the lyrics...as a reactor, please learn to find the lyrics so you have that added dimension to complete the pictures that he paints with his voice! And all the Dears (what he calls his fans...) will flock to your channel if we feel your sincerity ( which we can already feel), you will get comments in as many languages as there are Dears in the different countries, and they will all want subs in their languages... I like Yandex for translations...Goodluck, and looking forward to new reactions to Dimash!!!

Sinful Passion - The story behind this song is very interesting: The band that accompanies Dimash is the same one that composed the song, without the singer who died after a heart attack! The band is also from Kazakhstan and this performance by Dimash revitalized the song. In addition, the final part he added, with an oriental technique (traditional cazaq singing, called Joqtaw), is a funeral lament, paying homage to the dead vocalist: Brilliant! The song was originally performed in 1998 and the band's name is A'Studio. The dead singer left the band in 2000 and passed away in 2015 and his name was Batyrkhan Shukenov. The lyrics are by the poet Ilia Reznik together with Baigaly Serkebyev, who is the keyboardist with long hair, which we see in the video accompanying Dimash.

    Hi Mike,
Great reaction to an epic singer and performer Dimash. For me Dimash is the world’s best unique singer in the world. When he sings he touches my soul with his voice full of emotions and draws me in the story telling👏👍I learned from the other Dears that in Kazachstan the last part he sang called Joktaw. Several countries have it’s own name to it. It’s from Asian and Arabic music influences. I think you can call it in Western terms Melismas (if I’am not wrong, because I’am not an expert). You can hear this in a lot of Turkic speaking countries too. Please react to more videos of Dimash. Thank you, a dear from Holland😃

I've heard 3 different theories from vocal coaches about what he is doing there. The one you just mentioned is the theory of e.g. Tara Simon. But there is no consent about it among Western vocal coaches. And I guess we can't really tell for sure what he is exactly doing there, unless there are vocal coaches from that specific region it comes from or people who are trained in it themselves

    • @Rosannasfriend
      @Rosannasfriend 4 роки тому +1

Most think it's a back-and-forth register transition, but I tend to agree with those who say that it's a very quick glottal attack opening and closing.

    • @Rosannasfriend
      @Rosannasfriend 4 роки тому +2

I take that back. It's a little bit of both. It starts off with a clear vocal break over and over, which is clearly the transition from head to chest and back again. The yodel. Then he quickly turns into the "glottal stop", done over and over and over opening and closing the glottis. You can tell that there Are two parts to it.

  • @ecceben

Thanks for the amazingly detailed and precise breakdown of this! Picking "Ogni Pietra" as your first reaction definitely aligned with my favorite Dimash performance thus far. An alternate fan cam version on UA-cam stays directly trained on his face throughout the entire song, and each time I watch it, I'm amazed at his technical prowess ... darn near perfection! The tribal/ethnic riff in this sends chills down my spine each time, as does the simplistic orchestration combined with Dimash's alternating power belting and tender cries. Just another example, I suppose, of his innate artistic expressiveness. By the way, I think your "do not try this at home" is now my new mantra as it relates to Dimash when trying out his vocal acrobatics at home. Haha. I'm sure every person within a five mile radius will thank you for that. Would love to see an analysis of "Hello", wherein he does a bit more of the ethnic riff and of course "SOS d'un terrien en detresse," literally the first performance I ever saw of Dimash's. Each performance has its own idiosyncrasies, but the more recently available live performance in Cannes amid a seated audience demonstrates Dimash's ability to captivate and darw in with his voice. Sorry for the long comment, but great analysis, and looking forward to those in the future! Your knowledge of the voice and ability to share it with us laypeople is greatly appreciated!

Sir, I've watched so many vocal coaches react to Dimash and his insuperable performances. None of them has been at the level of your analyses. I've now seen two of your appreciative analyses of Dimash's performances. Your expertise and professionalism are phenomenal. I enjoy and marvel at every moment of them. I'm not somebody who could get a takeaway from Dimash's singing and your analyses; I'm not a singer, I'm just a regular guy and an ordinary listener, also one who is in tears almost each time after having listened to Dimash. And this has been going on for three years, ever since Dimash's "Le S.O.S. d'un terrien en détresse" in the Singer 2017 competition of Hunan Television, China.

Elizabeth of the charismatic voice is not bad in her reaction of Dimash, and then there was this guy named Areh, he reacted to this song too. Try and look him up.

This is a very good analysis video.I can understand easily what your analyzing and explanation.Keep it up 👍👍
Also someone named Übervocal explained about the cultural style dimash did. This is what he said "That special tribal riff was achieved by vibrating the larynx and is something practiced in Kazakhstan, Mongolia and other parts of Asia but, not, to my knowledge the Middle East. A Kazakh youtuber commented: Dimash used singing kazakh technique, that called 'komeymen aytu', You can hear it from the Turan Group. Saha people ( Rus) uses this technique too, they called it 'kylyhah'."
    Your welcome

Hmm according to Dimash's father it's a style from Yakutia (Russia)

Hello! :) Dimashs knows many different cultural styles and techniques, of course, also from Kazkhstan :) Kazakh folk is one of the genres he sings in after all. But this one really seems to be from Yakutia. A friend of mine sometimes chats with Kanat (Dimash's father) and she asked him about it. And also according to her, he said it was a Yakutian riff :)

JasminGardenia, Yakutia (Russia) and Saha (Rus) are the different names of the same region in Russia. Genesis of Yakuts inheriting this region is similar with the genesis of Kazakhs, “ancient Turks” are their common ancestors. So, this style of singing can be met amongst all turks-speaking nations including Kazakhs.

Great detailed analysis! You might enjoy reacting to Vocalise/Know (the most recent performance on Dimash's channel). It was also composed by Igor Krutoy, but it has a completely different feel to the ones you've seen. Dimash sings it without lyrics, mostly improvised, showcasing his vocal agility and some incredible scat singing.

Of the deeply analytical voice teachers that exist, you are actually fun to listen to, great enthusiam. I enjoy it, stay unique. I suggest reactions to SOS d'un terrien en détresse, the song that put him on the international map. Adagio as well, Singer 2017 version on both (excellent band and choir, really good lights). Possible copyright issues but I think you stop/rewind enough to avoid that easily. Plus the current season of The Singer should be wrapping up, and it's said they don't bother you in the offseason.

It's called glottal stop. I think the way it works is by sing it back and forth between registers. In some place this kinda technique is used to give honour to the dead. This song is like a tribute to the band's ( A Studio; which is famous in Russia and Kazakhstan) original Singer who died couple of years back. That's olso why you see the pianist and the guitarist face is so "tense". cmiiw
Ps: that last part is the lagendary 22 second singing in one breath

There are so many different theories around about what exactly he is doing there. Also vocal coaches have different theories. So I guess we can't really tell, unless someone really knows that technique (a vocal coach or singer of traditional "ethnic" music from the region/culture it come from :))
