    Hi terry lovely video many many years ago we went to encombe house to a fete and I remember the beautiful ponds covered in lilies we also went down on the small beach to look at the waterfall which was really pretty I can remember we used to pay a lady to come through to kimmeridge she was there for years then they built a new hut we have had so many nice cream teas in the village over the years. Kingston church is lovely I always love going in these places so much history thanks for showing us these amazing places which are only assessable by foot looking forward to your next one xxx

      Hi Jane. Thank you so much 😀 I've seen those Encombe fetes advertised but I have never made it to one - I'm not sure if they still do them now. The pay hut at Kimmeridge is still there although I always manage to park elsewhere for free 😀 I too have enjoyed cream teas at Kimmeridge.....and elsewhere too 😀 Happy memories! xxx

    I have been on top of the church tower many years ago. We could not get our bums on the seat at Hounds Tout either 😏 Lovely video, beautiful views.

    Another delightful Dorset day-out Terry 🧙‍♂, gorgeous views and your always interesting musings. Did this exact walk, maybe 12-15 years ago, but I started from the Scott Arms (my walks always start/end with a watering hole. Well, it'd be rude not to 😊). Must've been either spring or autumn cos I remember it being bitter cold and grey to start (so thinking about it, it could've been summer 🙁). I got to Kimmeridge and found the footpath closed due to, I think, best I remember, a landslide. I didn't fancy retracing my steps so decided to risk it - foolish I know but I was younger then so didn't really care! Anyway I got to the Encombe valley section, with no real sight of anything wrong with the path, but when I got to the bit that you found overgrown, where it hadn't been regularly walked I couldn't even find the path, it was just thick vegetation. So, I decided trespass was my only option, turned inland towards the farm and skirted round the edge of fields as much as possible, keeping out of sight of the farm, and eventually got back to the road at the top. Phew! I didn't want to be transported to Australia for trespass so I was mightily relieved and recovered at the pub with a pint. Would've been much less stressful with Right-To-Roam, don't you think?
    The church at Kingston is stunning, never been inside it, so thank you for showing that, will make an effort in the near future to put that right. And also have another pint 😉. Bev.

      Ah, thanks so much Bev 😀 Your tale sounds familiar to me as I have done that myself on many occasions - these days, with my grey hair and beard, I figure I'd get away with it simply because they would think I'd made a mistake and couldn't read the map right 🤣 I agree about Right to Roam though! Those views, wow, although part of the coast path looked like you were having to hack through a jungle. I'll put this walk in the memory banks when I'm there in January '25 weather permitting.

    That was nice to watch and now I know the exact position of that secret hidden waterfall which I first saw on some other video but they skipped out of exactly where it is but did take a shower there. May venture out on them undercliffs when my leg gets better and look for some nice fossils too. If not this year maybe next. Love your informative detailed hikes.

      Ah, thank you so much 😀 It is very much worth a visit and there are some interesting rocks although I have never actually looked for fossils there.

    The parking on the pavement - 01:06:00 - really annoys me. It seems it's standard practice now. Can you believe it's September already? I have been out a lot, making the most of the dry trails while it lasts. I hope you have been out and about this week? Thank you for another lovely video.

      Thank you 😀 Yes, I have had a couple of great walks this week which I filmed 😀 The first one will go live next Sunday if can edit it in time. Parking on the pavement is annoying, although I kind of understand it here because the road is very narrow and of course many of the cottages were built before cars were around so they have no parking spaces.

    Should have treated yourself to a much stronger type of drink at the end of that energetic walk. "POP-IN-THE-PUB" detour!!

    Terry I wonder how much oil is extracted at Kimmeridge, who owns it and where does it go for processing?

    • @terryyarrow1230
      @terryyarrow1230  5 місяців тому +2

      Apparently it produces around 65 barrels a day now but it once produced 350 barrels a day. It is transported by tanker to Wytch Farm where it is piped to the storage facility on Southampton Water before being shipped to Fawley.

      Thank you Terry, I often wondered about this. I hope Kimmeridge gets some income from the oil!
