Realmente Glenn estuvo extraordinaria en el rol de Norma Desmond..yo tuve la oportunidad de ver su actuaciòn junto a Alan Campbell y aùn hoy la recuerdo con mucha admiraciòn...Bravo por ella...
There were glaring omissions in the Nominations. Victor Victoria was shut out except for Julie Andrews. She declined and boycotted. CBS even threatened to end their contract to broadcast future ceremonies.
Thank God Patti Lupone did NOT play ND. She can keep her "Andrew Lloyd Webber' pool she brags about paid for by the settlement. The big winnesr were the show itself and Glenn Close. She was brilliant.
Glenn Close was superb in the role. Patti Lupone was superb in the role. The reason that Patti didn't perform the role on Broadway was political. Paramount, who was a major backer, wanted Glenn to perform the role on Broadway, because they were planning a film of the show starring Glenn. Andrew Lloyd Webber complied with their demand. And Glenn was very good in the role. But people don't have to say nasty things about Patti. That is a low class, disgusting thing to do, so please refrain from doing so.
Symphonybrahms....ur dead wrong...lupone was trying SO HARD NOT to be Swanson .she was flat and boring....no characterzation......THATS why she was replaced ..she was electric as EVITA.....she needed some of that for DESMOND....
I think shes GREAT....but that outfit...looked like a House on the Prairie nightgown....and also as much as lnlike LuPone...she stunk as NORMA( she was a fabulous EVITA.but all wrong in her interpretation of DESMOND......
Send an email to all those people thanking them, don't bore millions of people on TV. This speech alone is reason enough for Close to never win an Oscar.
There could've been 50 other nominees, Glenn still would've won.
I saw her the day before the show closed - that woman LOVES her character. She loves her. You could feel it from every rafter in the theater.
Absolutely well deserved. BRAVISSIMA!!!
And now 23 years later at age 70 she back for a limited engagement at the palace Theatre!
And she knocked it out of the park!
Only two nominations! but Glenn deserves the award!
It would be awesome if she was nominated again for the same role this year.
I believe their is a rule against that. She was nominated for an Olivier though. I believe she has a decent shot at that.
well done Glenn....your an all rounder actress, like Meryl, you can sing, be dramatic etc etc and do it all !

La vi en Broadway y todavía me da escalofríos recordar el poder de la actuación de Close. Absolutamente hipnotizante.

Glenn Close voiced Kala from Tarzan, and Cruella de Vil from 102 Dalmatians.
Rest In Peace, Rebecca Luker.
(1961-2020)
"I want to thank Patti LuPone for stinking in the role so I could get this job."
Does anybody know why they were only two nominees that year?
There were glaring omissions in the Nominations. Victor Victoria was shut out except for Julie Andrews. She declined and boycotted. CBS even threatened to end their contract to broadcast future ceremonies.
Wait, There were only two nominees, how did that happen?
There were virtually no new shows that season.
But the revivals are also elegible
Yeah, but there was only one revival that season as well. 1994-1995 was a dead season for Broadway.
Why was there only 2 nominees?
Glenn, memorise your speech!
Why were there only 2 nominees this year?

It's the fault of Andrew Lloyd-Webber that the fck up happened though. You just don't fire someone without them fcking things up.
Andrew truly is to blame for that situation
Just two nominees???
There aren't five amazing musicals every year.
Only two Nominees? that year.
I have an even bigger scoop for you: In 1985, there were no nominees for Best Actor or Actress in a Musical!
musicaltheatergeek79 how’s that possible? Did they all suck? I’d love to see The Oscars with no best actor or actress lol that would be shocking
Has anyone ever noticed that Andrew Lloyd Webber's biggest successes seem to walk away from the Tony's having won 7 awards?

Patti has a Better Voice.
Faye Dunaway would have been Great.
Only 2 nominees?
glenns a bit 'norma' here?
two nominees???
And just like that, Patti LuPone lost her mind with jealousy!!!
Prepare your Oscar Speech 2021!!!!
