Haha I did pop in to the spoiler thread here and there (ignoring pics and mentions of deck mechanics). I saw a lot of the uproar. 😅 But to me more Unmatched is always good because I love figuring out new matchups and seeing the meta evolve. Just so much more to discover!
Loved it! I can hardly wait to play this box myself! And yes, your box opening videos are a joy to watch, so please do keep them up! Also, I identified at least 2 things in that set that will affect Bloody Mary in a big way. On one hand, that Secret Documents token is going to be a bit risky, but also an instant setup for her Action gain next turn. On the other hand however, Trash Talk is going to throw her for a loop if she gets hit with that before she can pull off her third Action. Just some small things I've noticed. I'm looking forward to looking into the decks more and finding some fun interactions and similarities (such as Control The Demon and Epic Poem being almost identical) Thanks for posting man!
Awesome I'm glad you've enjoyed these! And you bring up some really fun interactions there with Bloody Mary. I really liked the Command the Storms with Electric Floor token I mentioned here. Findings these new synergies is part of the fun of a new set. Really looking forward to exploring it more!
Absolutely love the box opening videos, you showed everything in detail which is what most people want to see!! Looking forward to videos of future sets as well, keep up the great work man!
Interesting -- all of my ability cards were in my moon knight deck as well. This has happened in other sets too -- I remember all of my bolv1 ability cards were in the medusa deck too.
I got my set already, and mine came with all the ability cards packaged with Moon Knight’s deck as well! Guess they just decided to package it that way this time.
You sold me. At first i was a little bit disapointed whit the marvels set, i preffer a less mainstream fighters, but this decks look so nice. Very cool video, greetings and sorry for my english.
Haha pretty hilarious seeing people complain about the new fighters already! I remember it being exactly like this when you showed off the Bol2 fighters where people would say that Yennenga and Wukong were like big 3 material and broken! Now I do think those fighters are very good, high tier at least but they do have their weaknesses like for example yenn into sinbad and bloody mary, and you have to have a fair amount of experience to play her correctly.
You're exactly right! It was the same for BoL2. I think it's natural for people to overreact for each new set. But things that seem OP at first can quickly become reasonable once people learn to play around it. Just look at Achilles. He is good, but if you know how to play around Pat he definitely becomes manageable. Lots of people thought he would be OP at first. And then as you mentioned Yennenga and Wukong both have their counters. So it all works out fine in the end for competitive play at least. And if playing casually and you don't like a fighter or a matchup, just don't play it.
Man, I wish Iron Fist was the sidekick. The cards for Misty would still work for Iron fist sans daughter of dragon and he would be a melee fighter. I understand that Misty Knight had a role in the Luke Cage show. I am more classic comic book guy where it was Power-man (Luke Cage) and Iron fist. Misty was Iron Fist's girlfriend in the classic comics. Don't know about her in modern times. That is my only complaint about the set. Looking forward to getting my own copy to play them.
I personally enjoy Marvel, but am only really familiar with the mainstream "big-screen" type of stuff. So I haven't seen the Luke Cage show. But I do like how they chose some lesser-known Marvel heros instead of the common Avengers ones. I hope you get your set soon so you can start enjoying it yourself! Thanks for watching 🙂
The video is amazing! Thank you for showing every detail of the new set 🤩 Speaking about balance, I really hope there won't be any huge mistakes like Buffy set entirely is. The authors got used to making balanced decks a few sets ago. I'm sure Moon Knight and Ghost Rider will have extremely great and pretty bad matchups. But speaking about Luke Cage, I'm not sure if he won't become the strongest Unmatched character. All of his red cards are very powerful, he is able to get five 6-value attacks + 2 by Misty. While his defences have great effects and strong inalienable values because of his ability. Luke Cage himself is a combination of Medusa and Bigfoot, he's got all of their strong sides. But this comment is just made of my thoughts. Looking forward to seeing how this all works in practice!
Thank you! Yes I agree the designers have done well with balance for the most part. But speaking on Luke Cage, he does still have his weaknesses. Brcause his ability only works on Combat Damage. So any auto-damage like IM or Little Red has will still work and he only has 13hp with no healing. He seems very strong, but most characters do on paper. You only really know once you've tested.
In the video you say Penance Stare can get up to a 9, but you could play it against an attack on defense against a Beastform, for example, and could get it up to an 11, although you wouldn't because presumably they just wouldn't discard to get it up that high since your ability goes off first as defender. But it would induce some mind games a little bit if you did bait one of these on defense, even if you shouldn't with only 2 in deck.
That could be a game-winning defense against an otherwise lethal Beastform! Very cool. Even without spending the hellfire the Penance would be a 7v defense though, which is incredible against one of the strongest attacks in the game.
@@zeroskatr12 Yeah I don't think you actually have to spend hellfire, nor would you, because the Drac player will most likely not boost it anyways. But it becomes one of the best defense in the games. But again, with only 2 in deck that's going to be very selective.
@@KuneTear well remember defender resolves first, so the ghost rider player would have to make their decision before Beastform discards. If they don't spend the Hellfire, then Drac can pump up the beastform. Though I can only see him doing that if it's a lethal blow.
I think they will end up in competitive play. It's just a matter of how to go about the items. They don't seem too game-breaking to warrant removing them from the map though.
FINALLY! An unboxing video worth watching. I wasn't really interested in the IP for this set, but the decks look like they'll be really fun to play. I guess once I get bored with BOLv2 this would be a worthy follow up after all. Please do another for Hell's Kitchen. I actually used to read Daredevil so that was on my "might buy" list already.
Thanks for watching! I was kind of in the same situation where the IP wasn't the most interesting to me because Marvel is everywhere. But I like how they picked some less mainstream heros. And the decks are all really cool and unique. So definitely worth the purchase! I will definitely do one of these for Hell's Kitchen as soon as I receive that set.
@@zeroskatr12 totally agree, love that they went with less mainstream characters. Would be boring if they went with the classic thor, iron man, cpt america type heroes imo
Haha I have no background knowledge on him. So was basing everything off of the card names and art. He sure seemed like sort of a thug to me, but I guess then he really wouldn't be a hero huh? 😅
The Raptors are NOT going to like Ghost Rider, wow. Haha the Raptors aren’t the most consistent in the world anyway but Rider seems like he would just ruin them. Very interesting characters though. Ghost Rider looks like the most mech mechanically interesting, whereas Luke Cage seems the most generally balanced. Very curious how these guys will shake everything up.
Oh yeah for sure Raptors are going to struggle haha. Unless they can get a big combo chain on him early because his defenses are relatively low and only 2 feints. Sounds like an interesting matchup to try out!
Do you think these characters will fair well against vol2? Do you think this will be competitive enough. Or is the meta shake up based just on the map and items provided
It's really hard to say at first glance. I need to start testing them. But they seem to have potential for sure. I think Ghost Rider will be good against Wukong and Luke should do well against Yennenga. Moon Knight is much harder to evaluate. I don't think the map/items will make a huge impact, but it will be interesting to see which characters seem to get more benefit from them.
Are these guaranteed to be added to the competitive pool or is it still up for debate? It feels weird, especially due to the licensed sets not getting printed in Europe.
They will be added for online tournaments, yes. Because although people may be waiting on physical sets, they are all available to play online with TTS (at least generic versions of the decks). And since we have no way of knowing how long until the sets are widely distributed, we don't want to delay adding them.
The reviews will likely take a while because I have to test the decks out first and really get a feel for them. The Hell's Kitchen unboxing will be as soon as I receive the set. Should be shipping pretty soon so hopefully within the next few weeks.
Well I think they do balance to an extent. With how many fighters we are getting in the Unmatched universe, it's going to become impossible to test all matchups for every new release. But they are trying to at least keep the power level within certain boundaries. I think so far they have done a good job. So we will see how these ones shape up, still a little too early to judge i think.
Got ours yesterday... not digging them... it feels like a different game. Particularly Luke Cage and Rider's ability. Moon Knight is cool, the gameplay feels tactical etc. But the other two are just dumb-proof. Specially Luke Cage, I thought Rider was going to be more deadly, but it's actually Cage. Between the defense and the loop-recycle card, its really hard to beat.
Oh I love RR actually. All 3 are very fun and not broken by any means but all viable. Luke can be beat by most characters. And his Still Standing has to win combat to trigger, so there are very few instances where you continuously loop that. Ghost Rider keep in mind that when using his ability with Hellfire, you can never move more than 4 spaces. He puts people on a timer for sure, but there is counterplay with smart positioning. Moon Knight is just awesome. Strong character that focuses on timing and tempo. Also super versatile and very few bad matchups.
@@zeroskatr12 Yeah, I need to play them more to really be able to judge. They feel odd though. But MK mechanics are sweet, similar to how Sattler's tokens do what Spike's were supposed to do, MK does well what Hyde was supposed to do.
It depends completely on the matchup and the playstyles and effects that get brought with them. For example, Luke Cage's auto-defend is going to be a game changer for sure, but against characters who rely on huger amounts of auto-damage (like Medusa and Little Red) or characters who get easy buffs (like Alice and Achilles) he might not do so hot. Course, we'll know more about how these guys will fare with more testing and playing, which is the best way to determine if a matchup is good or not.
@@BlueTorchWeddings yeah I think it is natural to see a new deck and think how overpowered it will be. But often things turn out differently in testing. So only time will tell. Older fighters might be much more simple, but simple doesn't necessarily mean weak.
Ghost Rider doesn't handle aggression from the likes of Robin well at all. His defenses require Hellfire to take big hits, which is Hellfire he can't use to spam his ability or get the most from his attacks.
@@hfk0123 oooh this is interesting. Although with Luke Cage, I can see a match against Robin with that fight being almost unwinnable for Robin and his Outlaws.
From this overview, it seems like Moon Knight is just a variation on the Alice/Jekyll multiple personas thing and Ghost Rider is just another iteration of the Beowulf rage theme. Do they end up feeling similar to their predecessors in play? Since I've already got those other fighters, I'm kinda wondering if this is one set to skip.
I will say that I've yet to play any games with this set other than the initial 3-for-all so I can't speak on feeling from personal experience. I've been too busy and focused on the Winter of Champions tournament at the moment to get testing with this. But I have seen some games with these fighters. And although their gimmicks are similar to those you listed, the gameplay definitely looks different. Because Beowulf is more about heavy hits and Ghost Rider is more about consistent chip damage and mobility. And Alice/Jekyll essentially change forms when you want to trigger that, whereas Moon Knight is in a constant cycle. So he is more about managing the rhythm of his forms than trying to time form changes if that makes sense. It's really up to you if you want to purchase the set or not. If you're a fan of the character then I would say get it. If you're a big fan of unmatched then I would say get it haha. But if money is a concern and you're not super interested in these characters then the higher price point may not be worth it to you.
