- All three console versions were captured through original PAL Xbox, Wii and PS2 consoles with component cables. The 720p footage was captured from a modded Xbox PAL console with the game installed on a hard disc drive.

Chris D surprisingly the wii wasn’t all that bad with graphics, it wasn’t perfect, but after recently playing it more often, it’s pretty impressive given the time it was released.

Just started this today on the Wii.
It's looks good considering its age and is great fun pointing the controller at the TV to shoot.

Like I said in the Driv3r comparison video. The PS2 was more capable than we think. The GTA games on PS2 was not the best it could do. Its not system limitations, it is how the engine the game was using being handled. We got games nowadays didn't take advantage of the systems ran poorly compare to the console exclusives.

@AnEn yeah, ps2 gpu was very outdated even for its time, some people that gta san andreas had a diferent time of day rendering due to outdated gpu.
@Paul Bell It wasn't the weakest. Games like Shadow of the Colossus would've never been possible on Xbox or Gamecube with its lower pixel fillrate count and handicapped memory bandwidth. PS2 was a bandwidth monster sporting a special type of RAM (eDRAM).

Xbox with 720p was such ahead of its time, it was like 1,5 Generation between itself and the 360/ps3
It was 4x stronger than PS2 and 2x stronger than Gamecube

You should do a comparison on PS2 with an HDD/SSD (depending on how much you wanna mod your PS2) Turok evolution on a PS2 with an SSD still looses to the Xbox loading for disc in my own personal comparison. I was very surprised.
PS2 and xbox only support ide even if you put ssd the speed will not change, because it only support IDE and the only benefit you have is stability and less freeze

Wii is the best one by Graphics shadowing everything the xbox although running at 720p is just upscaled but the models still look worse than the wii maybe if we ran an hdmi convert for wii 1080p against the xbox 720p it would show the difference clearer because it's really noticeable.

Gabriel Raphael You can switch your console to output 720p if you own a NTSC version of the console and component cables. But if you own a PAL console you have to softmod it to achieve better resolutions like I did.

Hello, i still don't understand why installing Scarface: TWiY to the original XBOX HDD both improves the resolution from 576i to 720p & the hertz from 50 to 60, compared to just playing off the disc?

Sorry, I noticed this question just now. That's because I live in PAL region and here old games run on 576i 50Hz by standard. But when I soft modded my original Xbox console I could switch to NTSC mode and output the game in 720p 60Hz. The HDD install is there to show how long it takes to load from the hard drive. This HDD install is all optional, but I wanted to show the benefits of it in this video. The HDD install got nothing to do with the 720p resolution. Hopefully I answered to your question. :)
impressive how the ps2 holds up against the other consoles despite the massive difference in CPU speed and RAM limitations
I guess this game was made for the PS2 and then to the other consoles. That explains why there isn't any notable differences between these versions.
If there is only problem it's that when either you attack a gang or the big police bois come the fps lowers and becomes slow but it's still impressive that this was ported to ps2 as best as they can
PS2 CPU is equal to Xbox if not better. GPU and lack of video memory were a problem.

I have PS2 and xbox of this game, and I always play the PS2 the sky is so much better, it doesn't show in this video but at dusk its all red and pink and gives a great atmosphere, but on Xbox it's just a bit of red at the top, also the sun rise looks nicer on PS2 and the water

Look at the textures on the wii.
Looks kinds the same, but some areas looks better than others playforms, but I prefer ps2 version, just because I had great time with it.
I also have a PAL console and configured the console with the enigmah and cable components the game san andreas does not allow me more than 480p, in fact I have connected the xbox to a reescalador to put games at 720p and the image remains in 480p, with the wii something strange happens to me. If I set the wii in HDTV mode it does not let me rescale to 720p, if I leave it in normal mode if it allows me to re-scale to 720p.
Ángel 306 Not all xbox games support 720p and san San Andreas is on of them. The list of alternative display modes can be found from wikipedia. I don’t know what you mean. Wii can only output 480p in EDTV mode.

wii looks the best but not by much. wii has a few more polygons (look at the rim of the water fountain, its the least blocky) and wii has shimmering water.. other than that they are all the same

For the future, if you have multiple videos at the same time, it's better to render the video at the lower of the 2 framerates. so in this case at 50 cause allot of the stuttering on the 50 hz sides comes from added frames to match up to 60
Nikodem R Yes I know, but I still chose to use 60fps in this video because I didn't want to bottleneck the 720p 60Hz material. Otherwise It would not be a fair comparison to use a lower framerate in this video than the fastest video material has. And what comes to the stuttering, I really can't see it. Are you sure there is stuttering? I know that the 60fps is not the most optimal frame rate for the 50Hz material but I think it is a better option to show what does the fastest version look like when comparing all the versions side by side.
I can definetly see it just kinda jumping around jittering. there is generally little to no drawback to lowering the framerate to 50 in these types of videos unless the game uses 15khz effects but most 480i games font do that anymore.

It's strange but in the video you can not see any difference between 720p and 576i, why?
Ángel 306 There is a difference but I guess it’s not as big as you would expect. After all we are not comparing to full hd but only to hd ready. We have to remember that 720 is not tremendous leap from 576 like 1080 is. You only have to look at the numbers. And I guess the game does not have any antialiasing. And what comes to my video, you can see the difference when you look at the trees. The trees look much sharper. Its not a huge difference but it is quite noticiable when playing on a bigger screen. It looks a little sharper to the eye than the other versions.
Where did you get the 720p in its xbox version? Original console, 360, pc? regards

What's the 2 different x box versions??
motley17cru 720p runs from the hard drive and 576i runs from the disc. It is possible to install games on you Xbox hard drive if you soft mod your console. Soft mod also opens the possibility to run games in ntsc mode if you own a pal console. Some games even run in 720p like this game. Hope I answered your question.

Creo que la versión con disco duro va a más resolución porque es la versión NTSC, y las versiones PAL no pueden llegar a 720p o 480p, mientras la NTSC puede llegar a 480p nativos y reescalarlo a 720p
la version de Xbox es solo 480p reescalado a 720p, la version de Wii a 480p produce una imagen mas limpia y definida.
