so dire, I don't know why but for some reason, out of the last 3-4 seasons i've watched, this has been without a doubt the most entertaining.
it may have to do with the more 'social' aspect of it and having so many brilliant players interact with you, or it could be your charms just growing as an LPer, who knows!

Dire, if you end up going to the Twilight Forest to mine, I recommend the Hollow Hills. Dig from the top down, slowly and carefully, and you'll drop straight into MASSIVE veins of all sorts of ore- diamonds, gold, emeralds, and of course some of the more mundane stuff like redstone and iron. They're heavily guarded with plenty of spawners, though, so I like to attach a fully powered railgun to my MMMPSuit, which puts all the baddies (save endermen) down in one shot each. Night vision helps too!
Dire a great way to get more gold using Thermal Expansion + Xycraft is to get a steady supply of sand and aluminum ore into an induction smelter. The resulting Rich Slag can be used to get you 3! gold ingots for every gold ore you find. I also put all my iron thru the induction smelter as well, since I have way too much ferrous at this point and that means even MORE rich slag for my gold.
Acually, you CAN make it so that your ender tank sucks liquids out. As you know, Thermal Expansion has blue for suck, and orange for ... um ... get rid of. (Couldn't think of the word.) as you saw on the ender tank, it had a dial with blue and orange. Blue on top, it sucks from the top and gets rid of on the bottom. Reversed if blue if on bottom. Dire, save some LiquiDucks and put the ender tank right under the ethonal tank!
Direwolf20 : You should really give a try to the storage bus in early game. Type wise it's cheaper on quartz and you can access all your chest form the access terminal. As a bonus, you can still access your chest in power shortage situations.

Applied energistics is a mod about energistics - the concept of energy logistics. It applies the concept using mass-energy transformers. Mass-energy transforms, using power, matter into energy. The energy is then used to transport it to a storage device, which, because that's how energy works, stores the data you in-putted. You then use another mass-energy transformer to transform energy back into matter.
The reason it's currently 'OP' is because it's in a beta state.
I think in terms of materials vs. final product, both of them are pretty well balanced, even against each other. Machine Muse has done a great job :3
I've found its really useful to have several 1k storage disks around to store non-stackable items and then preform at the large disks to hold blocks like cobble, dirt, sand, and gravel.
The point of direwolf20 playing this is for him to show off the mods that are in the FTB pack, he has already shown off the most part of Redpower2 and is now showing us something different so we dont get bored.
And dont think i am saying this because i am an AppliedEnergistics fanboy, Redpower2 is personally my favorite mod. Eloraam
Hey Dire, this is just a tip. When making Tinker's Construct tools use paper as your binding or your guard. It gives you one more modifier and doesn't affect anything else. :)
You can see some of their "behind-the-scenes" chatter on Morv's stream, or Jaded's, both of which Jaded mentioned in the episode. Jaded's sometimes on teamspeak on Morv's streams, which are a lot more chatty than these episodes (and her late-night streams are more uncensored). Also while I haven't seen Jaded's streams she'll probably be even more "herself" there :) Their Twitch usernames are the same as Minecraft, Morvelaira and Jadedcat.

Because of a safety standard ethanol in real life isn't transparent it is normally dyed blue or pink. I have worked in several ethanol production units here in Texas and my friend races dirt track using ethanol.
it's merely the fact that we've interacted with particles that don't even exist. so in a roundabout way validates the applied energitics debate for the mod. but yeah, science...IS AWESOME. at least someone hopefully learned something
People can make sorting systems out of vanilla hoppers, droppers and chest carts. Though it's not very Direwolfy to do vanilla things, it would certainly be cool to see.
I know the feeling, and I played on discovr's FTB server until the end of the community. It was great fun and we made some seriously cool stuff, but small communities have the problem of not much money for hardware. FTB in its current state is very taxing on servers especially with the many bugs that it likes to throw at the server logging programs, and they used to cripple our server into needing almost daily troubleshooting and rollbacks. It's a damn shame... it was so much fun.
Floating trees is also totally realistic...
I think Applied Energistics is still more realisitic as Forestry, Thaumcraft, or just chests. It is even possible to transform energy into matter and backwards, we just didn't accomplished it yet (for practical use at least).
Tinker's Construct needs some sort of high energy drain Grow Lamp that you use in your indoor gardens so you can place our regenerating tools on a table and it speeds up the regeneration.
In minecraft we no that steve is actualy a very hi-tech person from the future who has a n item that can turn any thing into a compressed form and then stores them in his multi-dimensional bags.
This is how I think about steve being able to break blocks.

it's made of three different things, by the looks of it. Most likely Iron for the blade itself, possibly slime for the guard, and I think that may be either obsidian or one of the metals you make in the smeltery for the hilt
Morvy and Jaded aren't Devs. They are FTB forum moderators and beta testers for various forgecraft mods. They are basically the same as Direwolf.
I didn't say anything about where that particular Quantum idea started, what i mean is, storing real things is possible, you can save on a disk that you got 3 liter water (just the information) the difficult part is to convert that mass into energy conpletely, arrange the atoms in the needed pattern in that amount and that without loosing much of that energy.
That manipulating particles thing (over wormhole?) sounds really like sci-fi and the existing of other dimensions is just theoretical yet.
You know it's a direwolf20 video when he has at least 5 levers in his inventory at any time, unless he needs them.
The API chicken bones is working on could be awesome. it would mean that mods that allow multiple blocks in the same space could all use the same mechanics to do it, so it would be very easy to have microblocks seperate vanilla redstone, facades on pneumatic tubes, or use redpower hollow covers with copper cable just like you would use it with a tube.

I agree with Mrkol. I have just wired up a logistics pipes system with requesting pipes on each of my levels of my house, but this is so much better, cheap/er, and can auto craft without getting all the crafting benches, crafting pipes.. It's a little op, should be harder to craft
I, as well, LOVE AE. Once I get a sufficient generator, that is what I spend my time on before anything else.
Actually nuclear energy just energy gained from splitting an atom into two.
You see when the atoms get big enough the strong nuclear force that keeps the atoms together becomes a lot weaker, whereas the electromagnetic force that pushes the protons in the nucleus apart becomes stronger.
All it takes is a neutron to smack the atoms nucleus at high speed to give the atom enough energy to overcome the strong force before the electromagnetic force pushes the atoms nucleus apart.
Speaking of Vajras on barrels, I once blew up my entire base by hitting through a barrel, and an AESU. Which then proceeded to blow up the other 9 AESUs.
You still have to do that with certain contraptions, and it's quite interesting to have to make things work WITH applied energistics (without using a chest to pull from, because that's messy).

If you're going to get technical about AE. Then here's two things:
If AE stores data, then the whole thing becomes silly, because you can copy data,
and also because turning items into data and data into items doesn't make sense.
On the other hand, if AE stores energy, then why can't you turn that energy back into matter in the form of a different item, kind of like equivalent exchange.

Good point. Frames are really nice, but I can think of other ways to accomplish the same things I use frames for. They just end requiring much more complicated turtle setups now (and a lot more resources). I guess I'll miss frames too, but I can get by without them. The cabling though... I use that everywhere.
All versions of Modular Powersuits released after 1.5 will have higher quality power armor. It comes with full customization also.

no, in-hand itemrendering was changed in forge and therefore there is a different rendering when you are in 1st person than it is when you see it in someone elses hand.
You can put export busses behind normal chests with rp2 system and access your stuff remotley, like dire did it with logistic pipes and rp2.

FTB is very stressfull on the hardware: the minecraft server is still single threaded so cheap multicore CPUs are no good, microblocks and ore generation takes a lot of ram and need very wide bandwidth, plus maps take up much more disk space so cheap ramdisks must be replaced with expensive SSDs. For a decent server you need to spend around 10K$ if you want to be able to host about 10 players at the same time, and good luck playing FTB with less than 250Kb/s in upload per user.
if you use storage buses with barrels it frees up a lot of space on the ME systems and still allows you to access the barrels threw the system
You can actually see the endertank, it is just REALLY small. It is behind the inventory bar.
And it doesn't look like they will any time soon. Apparently the latest big update to Minecraft broke a lot of the stuff Redpower depends, so Eloraam has a lot of work to do.
MFR's new wiring thing may be headed in that direction. Skimmed the forum post for it but waiting to see Dire's part 3 of the spotlight.

The original comment was about an energy form of an enderchest, which in this case made his comment correct. There is no current form of energy ender-object, so an energy tesseract is the only way to do that.
No she has mentioned working on it, she won't release until 1.6 however. Her real life job keeps her extremely busy that is true.

in the twilight you can find these really big hills and if you dig in to them the most of any recourse in those hills depends of what the sise of the hill is so the biger the better and if you find a medeim hill you usally find a lot of gold.

@Ember Quill all my mates only watch them play and they only know a bit of forestry not even IC2 or BC3 which are the main mods, it's nice to follow something that isn't so mainstream rather than follow the crowd
Applied Energetics is a cool newish mod that has intuitive features that other authors haven't made eg. a terminal for an overall storage system which i find really cool. Also, dont be so mean about the mod because the developers spent hours to code awesome mods like this and people like you make them seem like they've wasted their time for getting only criticism about their work.
whenever dire says "in the end" i either think he means the end dimension or the song by black veil brides :)
you know that whole 'Quantum Entanglement' sci-fi stuff mass effect introduced? something about manipulating particles in other dimensions across infinite distances? yeah, we can do that...
So Direwolf, I caught wind that you will be a part of the UA-cam pre-release for the Doctor Who mod! Even if it's not till next year, I'm stoked for that!
Thats true because it is a beta pack, they will be testing mods and new features before releasing it to the public.

If you'd actually watch the series, you would know that it's not a mod pack. This is a test server where renowned mod creators can test their new stuff. It's not for download and you can't get onto the server. There may be a pack of most of this stuff when 1,6 hits, but since most of the mods are in constant change on this server, you probably won't get everything you can see here as it is right now.
Indeed. Testing is the whole purpose of the server.

Yes, but it takes three times the amount of space and time in order to build that type of monstrosiety, while you need nearly no room or time to build a simple A.E. setup.
I know all the stuff, I keep up with all the new stuff, I know how mods work, I know how to make mods. I am here to see cool builds. Applied energistics system ain't a one. Every minecraft youtuber have one.

And Redpower 2 sorting systems take more stuff or at least other kinds of stuff, are less compact and a lot harder to access from a distance
Because noone knows where Eloraam is or what shes working on, most assume shes very busy with real life work like she was last time. bit of a shame it's one of my favourite mods
If you don't like the mod bad luck Direwolf likes it, most people like it if you don't like it don't use it but don't force other people to have the same opnion as you.
I want to see Dire play through IC2 using gregtech. It would be cool to see him work through all the hard recipes.
dire, just an FWI for next time, an IC2 machine can be powered by a LV transformer, so you an put it directly below a machine. will help for neater IC2 wiring next time.

Think about it: magical grey wires and blocks, which can transform matter into energy and back for minimal cost. Don't you think it's a little bit OP? And the way it's done... Transform data into matter in single click without any shit happening? No way. At least there should be some fancy magical animations as excuse for OPness - magic.
You're right, building a massive Alot is more interesting to build and use. It would be a much better use of his time!

Dire you can repaint a painter eg yellow painter + red dye = red painter. So you only needed just one painter ;)

There is a beta version of IC2 for 1.5.2. Pretty sure it's on the IC2 forums somewhere.

If your Buildcraft pipes are spilling, you set up your pipes wrong. There needs to be a overflow chest. Look into Insertion Pipes from Thermal Expansion.
so, green sponges that wander around and explode at the sight of the player should have magic sparklies too?
or perhaps being able to just throw a few chunks if iron on a table and it forms into an Iron Chestplate is OP then, right?
AE requires a great deal of power and planning. you work hard and for a long time to be able to build these systems.
That requires Redpower to be out.It's not. Not even for them. Plus, even though I agree with you, and that Applied Energistics is not very interesting or pretty, it certainly holds a lot of material, and it is all accessible from many locations at once.

i finally got xycraft and forestry installed in my minecraft ftb verson, and im glad :)
Shift click the question mark when you look up the recipe. It will only work if you have the items in your inventory. I am not sure if we have this version though.
