AND it's been proven through the governments own statistics that the climate tax has done NOTHING to reduce Canada's carbon footprint at all. It's also been revealed that the Turdeau government PAID WEF to table a "report" to favor the climate tax. To make it look like a climate tax actually will work!

The Strasbourg-based court said earlier this week that Switzerland’s failure to do enough to cut its national greenhouse gas emissions was a clear violation of the human rights of a group of more than 2,000 older Swiss women. The women argued successfully that their rights to privacy and family life were being breached because they were particularly vulnerable to the health impacts of heatwaves.

No, the bottom line is that Alberta wants Canadians to burn as much oil, gas, and gasoling as possible so that the royalty revenue flows into the Alberta Treasury. And the Conservative Party (This lifelong Tory now refers to it as the "Alberta Party".) is ready to battle for this. Notice that no one suggests reducing income tax as way of helping ordinary working Canadians. It is the Carbon Tax they are trying to destroy.

And, if you adjust for inflation, there is less money in that fund today than there was when Lougheed stepped down as Premier in 1986. All these years they could have been building up that fund. Instead it was more important to be the one Province without a Sales Tax. And the Province with the lowest Income Taxes. And the Province with the lowest Corporate Tax rates, in the hope that Head Offices would be moved from Toronto to Calgary. It didn't work. Now we face the crisis of Global Warming, and the principal concern of Albertans is to make sure that we go on burning as much oil, gas, and gasoline as possible. If somebody has a better way of reducing Carbon than a Carbon Tax, I'm happy to hear it. But, the idea that the welfare of working Canadians depends on Carbon emissions is a lie. What I'd like to know is where is the incentive? As a single mother of 3 in AB I DO receive the rebate, however I also pay out more than I receive back, I must be one of those unlucky 2 out of 10 Canadians then *eyeroll*
I see no alternative solutions being offered, no dangling carrot if you will while they beat you the stick.
Heat pumps? Even with the rebates the initial costs are high, rebates don't hit your pocket instantly and that's just scratching the surface. Renters can't just up and install one, landlords can choose to do this and probably use it as a feature to validate an increase on rent. Then there is the issue of efficiency, I had a heat pump when I was a homeowner on the East Coast - we have surprisingly mild winters on the south shore of NS, and a heat pump there only works well above zero, and around -10 it becomes necessary to have a secondary source of heat. With a fire in the basement and the heatpump at 18° I could heat to a balmy 15° in -10 or below. We used sweaters and blankets because I refused to use the baseboard heaters and pay the extra $ to the NS Power monopoly. Seeing as most of Canada is below -10 for most of the winter... this is not the solution.
What about EVs? I know I certainly can't afford one, as a renter I also have no where to charge one. I can barely afford gas but sure, I'll go finance an EV with these current insane interest rates 😂

We need to talk more about a living wage for everyone. And that means a living wage. The government needs to consider.
Guaranteed income for everyone. That's really get on board with this. Because corporations are so greedy that they don't want to lose 50 billion dollars. So they keep making a 150 billion dollars in profits. But they don't pay their people a decent wage.So maybe they should lose 50 billion to pay their people at decent wage.Maybe they're out of laws against this greedy profiteering

Hey CBC, why have you stopped allowing comments on your web site ??
Since ever the CPC has taken a big lead you have systematically eliminated comments.
As a heavily taxpayer funded media you have a moral obligation to allow us to comment

What’s moronic, is no matter what anyone comes with for this. Someone’s still gotta pay for it, and it’ll be all of us, except the rich!!!
