The drinking age in alberta is lower than the rest of canada. Talk a out lifelong consequences for a child.
That's why there's a process. Nothing DS mentions as requirement for this law is as simple as going to Tim Hortons and asking for a hot chocolate. She knows this but knows those who feel as you do, a) don't know anyone who's trans or has trans kids, b) has never looked at the actual steps involved and restrictions in place, c) will simply be enrage and distracted and not ask her about healthcare/childcare/pension plans.

@@robertchanrussell2010 Actually I do have someone in my life that is trans and has not had the surgery. This person is 20 years old and wants to be absolutely sure that this is the right decision. That’s why she is putting this in place so that at that young age they won’t regret making an adult decision. My granddaughter had top surgery at 13 because she identifies as “pan sexual “. I never had any of this growing up nor did my kids. Not so sure why this is a thing now.

We are talking about children. If a doctor is prescribing hormones and chemicals to change a minor's sexuality they should be charged for sexual assault of a minor. I agree with our Premier.
I love my kids and would die for them. But I often have to say NO to their requests (be it more screen time or more junk food, etc). They often complain when I say no and I explain that the reason I sometimes have to say no is because I care so much about them, and as the parent, I have to make some calls they may not like, that is for their own best interest. I also explain that if I DIDN’T care about them, then I would just say YES to all of their requests and whims because literally I wouldn’t care what it means or does to them.
My kids understand this explanation. They understand that kids do not always know what’s best for themselves, and parents who care will sometimes make decisions that they don’t like. They understand that it’s easy for someone to say yes to everything because they simply don’t care the consequences and my kids DON’T want me to say yes to everything- they want me to care and they accept my No’s.
I support adults who make decisions about themselves. I support kids who may need additional resources to help get through a tough time at home or school for ANY reason. I support parents being informed if their child is going through ANY difficulties at school no matter what it’s in relation to. It’s not contradictory, it’s common sense and compassionate.
Also the question about why she goes by her middle name is stupid. I hope that “reporter” feels stupid for it but I’m certain she doesn’t.
