South Luangwa is seriously the nicest place I’ve been on earth. And I’ve seen a lot!
We are a research organisation (participatory action research) and we conduct community development projects. Everything is botten up, meaning that we go into rural villages and research the challenges people are facing, but also what their dreams and ambitions for their future are. Together with stakeholders (local chiefs, headman, lodges, police etc) we design a solution to the challenges. We are facilitators of this process. The villagers are always in the lead, so whenever we “step out” the project can continue in a sustainable way. We want to make sure the villagers have ownerships on the projects and that all solutions fit the local context.
