I can only give advice to Americans or Canadians, if you live in another country and don't speak English as a first language, please check the website of the Spain Embassy in your country to find out your work options, all the best!
OC Guy i would have to agree, especially with how expensive life is getting without much increase in wages and the fact that life abroad is so much more affordable. Lots of options on moving abroad, let me know if you have any questions! Thanks for watching!
@@LindseyDara i've worked as a real estate agent in California soo thats not a specialty would be difficult to get hired as a relator lol Non-Lucrative Residence Visa allows you to live in spain but you cant work just researching best options
Right, if you get can get a non lucrative residency right you can’t work in the spanish workforce, but that’s ok bc salaries are low, you can earn more online, but there isn’t any restrictions from you working online or making your own money. I have spoken with an American author she lives in Sevilla for over 5 years. The first year their residency visa was good for 1 year, then 2, then 5 and somewhere along the way, the work restriction was removed. Though to be honest, if you can get a job working online for a US company, even if you make $3000 a month, you are making double the average wage. It’s good money for Spain. Though I would say you need at minimum $30K savings maybe more, they like to see money in savings. The more money in savings the better and I think minimum of $2,500 coming in per month, if you have some rental units that’s good. Now it seems that requirements change a lot and from consulate to consulate. I watch a lot of house hunters spain and well, seems like I see lots of Americans moving to Spain and work from home or start a business or even invest in property. There are options outside of teaching. If you have any other questions let me know or send me an email. It’s in the description. Thanks!
I’m not sure, you’d have to do some research on that, but I do think it is easier to get a visa or residence if you are from a Latin country from what I’ve read. Sorry, I don’t have more info on that, but perhaps Google or checkout the Spain embassy website in Mexico for more info. 👍🏼😊
Probably you will want to take some Spanish classes first, you will def need to know Spanish for a job. IF you plan on teaching English, at least some basic spanish will be helpful!
Probably in a hotel you will need at least intermediate Spanish. Look online for tourism Spanish courses or in person in your city. But if you plan on working in a job where you interact with others, you will likely to get a job if you speak more Spanish. If you can’t communicate with clients and customers or if you aren’t able to hold an interview in Spanish, you may not get hired. But once you are living in spain, within a few months you should learn basic phrases, grammar, and vocabulary. Good luck!
Hi, it me, Nadia from Pakistan. I am Montessori deploma holder, and working as Montessori directoress from last 8 years. Can i get job as montessori directoress there?
Hi mam how are you.. my country Bangladesh.. now I am here Oman...I come in Spain.. you give me one Basa .. I give me all money no problem.. you tellme mam ok!!!
Well if you have parents or grandparents born in Spain, you might be eligible for a passport and that would open more opportunities. Since you are in the army, there are two bases in Spain, Rota and Morón. That will prob be the best opportunity. But if you don’t have family connection to spain, otherwise it’s not really possible to work in the spanish economy. I would look for a base job unless you are open to teaching English. If you are open to teaching in Spain, the options are in this video: ua-cam.com/video/g1THJeiO6jE/v-deo.html
Great video for relocating My wife and I are interested with moving to Barcelona and she has her own salon,we was looking at buying a house to have a Airbnb and have her business home also,,,,,would this be a good way to relocate (visa application wise) or which direction would you recommend?
I think if you are looking to start a business there is more opportunity there. I’ve haven’t studied it too deeply, but investing money and creating jobs, I think it’s easier to get a visa. I don’t know all the ins and outs. Probably google starting a business in Spain, or speak to a lawyer. But it’s a good idea! As far as Airbnb, I know certain cities have different regulations, double check that area you are looking to buy allows short term rentals. Good luck!
Nadia business well this how I understand it, if you are eligible and want to get Spain passport, they ask you to give up your other citizenship but it doesn’t really mean anything. If you are American, you’d actually have to go to DC and do it in person, otherwise, what you “give up” in one country doesn’t take effect in another. They don’t call your country and say, “I got Johnny here, he says he doesn’t want to be American anymore, so don’t let him back in.” I guess it’s more of a formality as I do know people with both, but I didn’t ask them any details. That being said I’m not a lawyer so I don’t know all the fine details. Spain Guru is a good site for questions like this. Here is a link: spainguru.es/2019/05/28/spanish-citizenship-dual-nationality/
I think 90 days on your tourist limit, if your American. I say think because I’m not 100% sure but I know many people who have stayed the summer after their visa expired and no problem. If you want an exact answer, try emailing your consulate or the embassy in DC. If you find out something, let me know. Thanks!
Speaking Spanish helps the social transition and paperwork, but it isn’t a qualification for getting a work permit or work visa or residency. If have a parent or grandparent born in Spain you can look into getting a spain passport.
My name is Manash , I am from India , i am working in bpo industry since last 8 years and i know a bit of french and i speak spanish, english. I have completed my graduation in english literature. How can i move down to spain and work there?
Manash Bhuniya Hi Manash, thanks for watching! I'm not really sure what options you have if you are from India. Check your government website for the most accurate information. Sorry I could be of more help! I hope it works out for you!
Sounds weird to me. I'm a vet and I volunteer going to schools where I give the childs lectures about animal well-being and trying to educate them about their pets' needs, the problem we have with abandoned dogs and how important is to adopt. They use to respond pretty well, and be interested on the speech, but anytime you take a dog with you... You disappear for the kids and all their attention will be directed to the dogs
Jeevan Hegade well if you do not have an EU citizenship, then it is almost impossible to get a job unfortunately. Check with the Spain Embassy in India, they can give you more information. Check their website or email or call them.
All in One hi thank you for watching. I do not know the requirements for citizens from Bangladesh. I recommend checking the website of your country and the embassy of Spain in Bangladesh.
Hello! If I’m already working abroad (China), is there a way to get my Spain visa from a consulate in China if I have all of my documents or do I HAVE to go back to America to get the visa?
hi i know this video is old but im an american/colombian passport holder and would love to know if you know anything about the working visas! or experience of anyone whose obtained one!
Maybe you will have better opportunities with your colombian passport, as latin america has different rules regarding live/residing in spain. The American passport as I have mentioned in the video, won't get you a working permit in spain unless you are a professional athlete or a scientist or something very unique. But I have met many latin american people in Spain and I do believe, there will be more opportunities going that route. Of course, if you want to teach english, you can do that with an american passport, just checkout my other videos. Check the Spain Embassy for Colombia website to see what your working/living options are with a colombian website, all the best! PSS IF you have an parents or Grandparents born in Spain... you may be eligible for a Spain Passport
Hi ! I have be fortunate to be granted a working holiday visa. I was just curious on the process of apply for a Social Security Number since I would like to work legally. Can you apply for prior to have a job offer or is a job contract required prior to apply for the SIN #. Thanks again for the informative video
G hi there! Honestly I don’t know, since I’m american I can’t really qualify for any work visa, only a student visa. So I don’t have experience with getting a social security number, sorry about that. There is a website and Facebook group called “Spain guru” which has more info about visas. Try asking in the Facebook group or checking the website. Good luck!
Hi Lindsey! Thanks for the great info. I am not sure if you can answer this question, but do you think a licensed teacher from the U.S. would have a better chance of finding a job teaching English over there versus a non-licensed teacher or does it not make a difference as long as you have some kind of TEFL or CELTA certificate? Thanks for your time!!
Carol V hi Carol! Great question! A licensed teacher actually does have a better opportunity to get a job at an international American school. There are at least 3-4 private schools for Americans and 3-4 department of defense base schools. The DOD schools pay well and pay living expenses. However they can be challenging to get into. But once you're in, you're set for life. TEFL is more for teaching at a Language school, but if you're certified, go for the American schools. There are 3-4 organizations that arrange special international school conferences each year and most of the hiring happens there. But you can send your resume anytime and see what happens. I think most conferences are in the fall. Google "international school hiring fair" I think you have to apply through them first. But anyway, now is a good time to start looking for next year!
Carol V if you go to the school's website, for American school Madrid or Barcelona, usually on the jobs page they will say what hiring fair they attend. Then sign up for that one, or like I said before, just send them your resume!
khati sing Hi, so if you are just visiting you are not able to work legally. You need a work permit to get a job. For more information please contact the Spain embassy in your country, thanks!

Little Goot good question, but actually it is quite difficult. Usually it requires special connections and some time spend working at the company in the US, before qualifying to transfer. Google search American companies in Spain. That's a good place to start!
