- At a ceremony in Istanbul on January 5, the spiritual leader of Orthodox Christianity, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople signed a decree granting autocephaly, or independence, to the Orthodox Church in Ukraine.

@@johnsullivan4049False. The main reason is annexation of the lands, because Russians acknowledge the intelligence of Ukrainians. Ukraine would be a big helper with food to Moscow, including smart people that can contribute to Moscow. Moscow doesn't have many geniuses, and most of the geniuses that goes to Moscow are of Ukrainian heritage key. Plus, a lot of their university certificates are fake like China's
This declaration of autocephaly helps to keep Ukrainians much more united, even though there is a split between the OCU and UOC-MP, which I pray the two will merge together and be brothers one day. This is obviously a move against Moscow, because now Russians will have a harder time getting Ukraine back, if they can't have their own people to brainwash the people with Russian ideas. Now, Ukrainians can have their own ethnic clergies and hierarchs teach them Orthodoxy and Ukrainian values.
The autocephaly granted to the OCU was partially political, in fact. The USA put a lot of money to fund the OCU and to try to bribe His All-Holiness Bartholomew to establish it, including attempted bribery to the Church of Greece, but the Church of Greece rejected and said they only seek to recognise the OCU because they stand with Bartholomew.

The rest is all geopolitics, such as the USA getting involved in Ukrainian business, and the USA funding the Verhovna Rada to try to join the EU. Russia on the other hand want Ukraine too as a resource against the west

It's obvious your understanding of the history of the Christian Church is lacking and at best goes back to 1517. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say it may go back to the late 10th to middle of the 11th century AD. Either way, you're wrong.

What a condescending and outright incorrect statement. First off, I am supposing you equate the Holy Bible with "God's word"? But we know from St. John the beloved's Gospel the Word or Logos of God is Jesus Christ. The Holy Bible is not God's Word. It is a collection of books and epistles/letters written at various times and while inspired by God the Father and the Holy Spirit, it is not the Logos of God. Also, speaking of the Holy Bible, who do you think compiled all those written works and discerned what was canon and what wasn't? The holy fathers and doctors of The Orthodox Church. To be more specific, primarily St. Athanasius the great. It wasn't Martin Luther or any other protestant revolutionist. Next you include something about leading journalists. I'm not even going to address including propagandists and the Almighty in the same sentence.

It doesn't break away from Russia, but from Russian Orthodox Church and it isnt church afair at all, but political decision.
What you do not understand is tht the current war in Ukraine is the modern |Christian war but media is hiding it so that we do not compare it with Sunni and Shiite religious fighting among muslims. What Putin is doing is not different from what Sadam Hussein did by invading Kuwait and the current war is not different from Iraqi war, Saudi vs Iran with Lebanon as the proxy . Men use the power of religion to achieve their own selfish ends.
The Russian church is in support of the war and the head of the Russian Patriach church made a press statement that anyone who opposes Putins war in Ukraine is an enemy of God, that is why this church separated from them. But media keeps the truth and sell us BS
Russia's "UOC-MP" that occupies Kyiv Pechersk is entirely political as well. Onufriy is a Kremlin puppet and his church is not a Ukrainian church, it's a Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine established in 1685.

This is false. Patriarch Bartholomew never had this papist powers and he "elected" someone who could ever split from Moscow because he was never in the Holy Church of Christ. May the Lord bring these people to repentance.

NATO /US are the true aggressors for expanding NATO eastwards and they wanted to destabilise Russia and break it up like they did with Yugoslavia. NATO went to war with Serbia, but they are out of their depth when it comes to Russia. NATO don't recognise Crimea as being a part of Russia. NATO want Ukraine to bomb Crimea. They want Crimea to go to Ukraine so they can put bases in Crimea, but historically Crimea is Russian.
They didn’t “break away from Moscow.” Zelensky forced them to break off their long standing connection and he shut down the UOC churches and monasteries and imprisoned, murdered or drove out their priests, monks and nuns. God will not bless Ukraine for that.
