I also collected a box of paper and now I'm going to make a magazine, I'm inspired
Your early morning Thursday viewing opportunity never disappoints, Joie! My scraps are organized, but at the point of lids not closing, so it must be time for snippet rolls! I like to use mine to make postcards and I wonder if the recipients of my cards even have a clue!?! Still, each is a piece of art upon completion, and I love sending them randomly to make someone smile. Thank you so much for your video. Your passion for creativity is displayed even in your voice. How lucky the paper arts community is to have you!
Awww, so generous. Thank you so much Lisa 🥰💜
You are a natural teacher. You must be one. Thank you for this tutorial!
Hehe, that's very generous!!!🤓💜
Lovely snippet rolls and demonstrations...thank for sharing....you’re so creatively....😻
Aww, thanks so much!!💜💜💜
I love how this isn’t about buying MORE stuff to organize your stuff!
I kind of feel that it's good to use what we have, especially when it's overflowing like mine 🤭🤭🤣🥰👍
TY great suggestions. May there be Blessings, positive vibes that cause constant ripples of peace, health and happiness for all who need it in these unsure times! Namesta ✌️🐞🕉️
Thank you so much!!💜💜💜
Every time I see you I feel happy
I say in my mind how this beautiful girl can have a princess smile
Your smile is amazing to me
Thank you!
Scraps, scraps and more scraps; the love hate relationship never ends. Thank you for sharing some inspiring tips and useful information on using what we all have an over abundance of.😊
That's an excellent way of describing it.... 🥰👍
I'm retired and I no longer wear heels, so I've donated most of them to a church charity shop, but I kept the plastic shoe boxes they were stored in. I'm going to use them for my scraps/off-cuts. Thank you so much for posting your instruction sheets on Pinterest. Have a safe and blessed weekend!
What a fabulous solution!!🥰👍💜
Thank you for this comment I just went and found on Pinterest 😊
I Love the clear plastic shoeboxes, too! That way I can see what is where, with paper and fabric scraps. And, they're made to stack.
Good point!💜
Great ideas for scraps. The envelopes at the end did remind me of a clutch bag. A stylish clutch bag.
Fantastic!!💜👍🥰
You are certainly disciplined. I admire your tenacity to save all these scraps.
It's an obsession 🤣🤣
Great idea
Love it. 🟨🟠🟩🤗🙏🏿🙏 July 5...2023.
Brilliant! Just what I needed. A simple, but effective, method to tame scraps. Thank you.
Hooray!!❤️🤓👍
Wonderful video and system! This makes so much more practical sense. I’ve sorted all my scraps into separate envelopes. Finding what I want takes so much time. Your system keeps everything at your fingertips, yet still keeps bits contained. Thanks very much for sharing.
You're very welcome Dorothy. Hopefully it will save time 😁❤️🌿
Great tips dear friend👍👍. Keep supporting us. Have a nice day 💞💞
Thank you!👍🥰
Brilliant video ! Sometimes I feel overwhelmed by scraps but this will definitely help thank you x
I totally understand!!👍🥰
Lovely projects you showed at the end! Tfs!
Thanks very much Dede...fantastic to see you, hope you're well!! xxx
Any non-journaler seeing our boxes of scraps would think we are totally bonkers ! . Love the ideas you have suggested ....the snippet roll is awesome x
Maybe we are Wyn🤣🤣 👍🥰💜
In regards to being bonkers.........all the best people are. ( Alice in Wonderland).
Absolutely 👍
Making sure it's recorded as watched.💜💜🤗🤗
Thank you for sharing your wonderful idea now I can arrange my papers and not throw them away instead, I can put them to good use 😊
Fabulous! You're very welcome!🥰
Great advise on handling mountains of scraps. Love the tri-folds you created.
Thanks so much!💜
You are just amazing, so organized, i love the way you use up scraps but more even how you have easy access to grab them!!! 🌸♥️🌸💕🌸♥️🌸💕
Fantastic!!! Thanks so much!!👍🥰💜
Excellent ideas😊. As I’m sorting a collection of ephemera and memorabilia, I am finding a lot of scraps. Now I have some ideas for using them up 😁! Thank you😊!
You're very welcome Kimberly!!🥰👍💜
As always, another wonderful video!! ❤ Love the end result of those paper strips. I may need to learn to sew. 😂
Great ideas! It looks like so much fun to make the snippets. Thank you so much!
Definitely fun Rhonda!! Thanks so much for popping by to watch!!👍🥰💜
Love the scap storage ideas!
I love the clutch style!!!
Fantastic!!! Thanks so much 💜👍🥰
OH Boy! Did I need this!!! A system I can use--if only I can find the room, LOL. I've shied away from the snippet rolls, as usual, you've inspired me to try.
Let's do it Judy!!👍💜😁
Oh my Joie, you just hit on my favourite resource, scraps. Graeme tells the story that Vic hasn’t met a scrap that she can’t use. Cheeky lad.
I enjoyed your video lots, and I owe you an apology. I watch your videos and have been to lazy to give you feed back. I will endeavour to do better going forward.
Thank you for all your videos, you are appreciated
Aww, that's lovely Vicki.... I'm just happy that you watch them although I do really appreciate those touch points which come in the form of comments. I also agree with Graeme, we can use them all!!!!!!🥰💜👍
I've been following you for a long time and I do believe you are getting better and better! Your work is so polished and refined. Love it
Ooooh how happy does that make me!!! I've been editing for most of today so your comment has really cheered me up!!
I’ve been working on organizing my scraps, too, Joie. Some types of paper just naturally seem to accumulate. The long and medium length strips are always growing. I just know I can use them in projects. Then I have another collection of cardboard, chipboard, heavy craft and lightweight craft. The rest is in random boxes on the floor. I had to make an effort to clean up because my landlord does not understand why I save scraps. I have definitely improved. I go through the boxes and just look at each piece. I make a decision to either stash or trash. I still have so much left. And it’s good to keep the boxes random yet organized. There is always the chance for serendipity. Finding the random paper that just works perfectly well with whatever I’m creating. Thank you for the ideas and the video.
...I totally understand that random element ... it makes a difference to our projects. 🥰👍💜
time for snippet rolls! I agree! thank you again! from, n. calif
Awesome, definitely time to make snippets and use up those scraps!!😁👍💜
This is a wonderful way to organize your scraps. I keep unprinted strips in plastic envelopes sorted by neutral, plain white, solid colors, and one for prints. I keep a glass jar on my desk for those “postage stamp” size bits and odd bobs that I tear off when I collage. Love the snippets…and the great ideas you have for how to use them! 😍😊🙏
What a great system, sounds very effective!! 🥰👍💜💜💜
This is just splendid! Thank you so much for sharing your technique with us.
You're very welcome!💜👍
I can't find it now but someone commented that they use plastic baskets from the dollar store for their scraps. I like to use those too because they nest and don't take up as much room on the table. I enjoy your videos very much, Joie. Thank you.
That's an excellent point, especially as space is so valuable! Thanks very much for sharing this Hollis! And welcome to my channel 😁👍
Thank you.
Oh yes I have a scraps problem too! Thanks for the ideas Joie
You're very welcome!!🥰👍💜
As usual you’ve shared great ideas. Thank you. And yes, it does remind me of a clutch bag. ❤️. Thank you for sharing
You're very welcome!!💜
Applied your tips. Instant success! As a sort of beginner I dont have many (scrap) paper yet, so getting organised from the start seems a very good idea.'
Many thanks.
That's a very good point... be organised from the beginning!!👍🥰💜
Love! Thank you, Joie 💛💜
Hooray!!👍🥰
Thanks for the tips. I have a lot of scraps and most are already in types and colors. Love your snippet. Good idea. Clutch bag...cute. see you soon 👍🥰🤗🤗hugs.
See you soon too Paulette!!💜💜💜💜
I loved this video, Joie! Thank you so much for sharing! ♥️
Awesome!! So pleased that you enjoyed this naira!!👍🥰💜
What GREAT ADVICE...........I'm so BAD at sorting scraps......l must start and get with the programme 😀 😂🤔🙏🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🥰
Took me a while😁😁 thanks very much Isobel!! Good luck!!💜🥰
So many great tips and ideas as always!! Thanks Joie! 🤗 💕
Aww thanks Nathalie!!!👍💜
Thanks for sharing this info. I was just pulling my hair out today trying to figure out how to organize my scraps. Seems I spend hours getting things ready to begin & then I'm to frustrated to work. This will really help. Thanks again. Love your channel & all your neat ideas.
You're very welcome
Yes it is! I had a massive tidy up this morning and I’ve now made some snippets (not many as I didn’t have many scraps) I’m totally in love with making them! Currently looking for old paper items I can tear up 😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤗🥰💜
I have made a number of the snippet rolls and love them they come in handy when I hit a snag in creativity. The only difference in the way you make yours and the way I make mine is that I cut a long piece of the news print and start with that as my base and add from there. I will have to try your way and see which works best for me.
That's a great approach too... very creative and a good use of news print if you have it 😁👍💜
This is brilliant, Joie! I spent several days last week setting in place my scrap saving/busting system, but I'm using mostly plastic baskets from the Dollar Tree. So far, it's working pretty well. My plan is to take one day a week and mass make a particular scrap busting craft that will yield useful ephemera at the ready. I'll let you know how that gets on!❤
Looking forward to hearing that Robyn!!💜👍🥰
This is a great idea, love the sorting for ease of use . I have purchased some 9x12 job ticket holders envelopes and will put that into action.. By using the envelope I limit myself to the amount I keep. I am going to do what Libby suggested, not keeping everything. I love paper and feel guilty throwing out even the smallest bits. I am, however running the risk of family members surprising me with an intervention, lol. I will also utilize your snippet roll idea to make sure the scraps are used instead of sitting in the envelope forever. Thanks for all the suggestions.
Lol, make that snippet to avoid those interventions!! LOL 🤣🤣🤣👍💜
@@joiedefi lol,lol, for sure. Thanks for reply.🤣😂😙😍
Just beautiful thank you for sharing.
You're very welcome!🥰💜👍
So helpful and beautifully creative!
Awesome!! Thanks Linda!!🥰👍💜
Thank you so much Joie, I really really enjoyed watching you take us through all those different scraps and how you use it. Yes I think that looked like a clutch bag. And I’ve subscribed and given you a thumbs up 👍 too. Looking forward to seeing what you do next. Please stay safe and well too
Aww, that's lovely of you Mags, I really appreciate it. Another video for you on Friday this week, and I'm showing my face again too 🤣🤣 This week we're using old packaging to create collage paper for lots of projects. Stay well sweetheart, I hope to see you soon!!💜💜💜
Love this idea for staying on top of scraps.
Thanks very much!💜
Very interesting and creative video!
Thanks so much!!
Well done! Hugs and blessings, 🤗❤️🇨🇦
Thanks very much Laura, hugs to you too!!!🥰💜
Very inspiring! Thank you so much!
You're very welcome!!👍🥰💜
I am always looking for a way to organize my scraps. I don't have the space for the boxes you suggest. What I do is put them in page protectors and into a magazine folder. I don't have as many scrappy bits as you do though! 😄 I have been on the fence about getting a sewing machine for paper crafting because of the space, but gosh, loved seeing you sew those scraps together. So cool!
It's a game changer, a sewing machine. Doesn't have to be an expensive one... 🥰😁👍
Wow Miss Joie, this was worth every minute of watching! Thank you! My world of scraps and bits is about to get a lot brighter! ❤️
Fantastic!!! Great to hear that Deb!!👍🥰
Hello Joie, what a wonderful way to store scrap pieces, I use color sorted in plastic envelopes for mine, thanks for sharing.
That sounds highly effective too Denise !!🥰👍
@@joiedefi 😺
Thank You joie...so inspiring and I am going for IT!!!!
Fantastic!!💜👍😁
I love this video, it is the first time I've found your Chanel! What a great one!
Oooh fantastic!! Welcome to my channel Lori, welcome on board!!🥰👍💜
I love these - and do think that that triple pocket looks like a clutch bag.
Hee hee, it does, I agree!!!🥰👍💜
The most useful storage tip for scraps is to throw half of them away. You'll easily find what you need in the remaining batch. Don't collect anymore until you use 1/4 of those leftover. You're not going to use all those. Ever.
It's a fair point..... 👍🥰
Libby, I am glad you said that ...you have given me permission not to keep every scrap. Tbh, I have taken bits out of the garbage after the guilt of throwing the smallest paper away engulfs me. You are right. I am going to keep only some, it is a never-ending cycle of scraps production each time one crafts. my family is starting to wonder about me, lol. TFS.
I agree. You won't miss them.
That clutch with the sequins! So striking
Splendid!!👍🥰💜
So relevant and useful. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks very much!!💜
Thank you for the great ideas.
I may be guilty of over organizing (sizes) of scraps. lol
I am going to try the three box system and using them more.
It will probably take up less room. You are my #1 mentor.
Aww, you're lovely!!👍🥰💜
I resonate with your aesthetic so much Joie! Thank you for so many ideas you shared here!
Thanks so, so much.... How lovely!!🥰💜
Very organized thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much!💜
I've all my scraps and bits and pieces sortet bycolor, size and thickness of paper and store them in clear envelopes in clear boxes standing on a small rolling table beside my desk. Every few weeks I set myself the challenge only to use stuff from these boxes. First it helps me not to get overwhelmed by loads of scraps and pieces. I don't have a lot of space, only one corner of the living room. And second it pushes my creativity only using the pieces from the boxes.
That is such a great approach!! I love it!!😄👍💜
Thank you. My problem is too many books.
I'm guilty of that too.... 🤣🤣
Yes, it does remind me of a clutch. Must try one😊
Definitely!!🥰💜
Love these ideas!
Thanks very much!!❤️😁
I use a similar system with fabric scraps. It works for me so far. I have my paper organized differently to suit my 25 years of scrapbooking. But as I work through my quilting journal, I seem to have a hybrid sort of organization for it.
Wow, 25 years! Nice one!!👍🥰
Hi Joie, This is the lady who talk to you about her sewing machine. Well at first it kept bunching up in the back of my paper. So I rethreaded the machine and now its working for now. I really like your idea about the scraps. I going to keep Practicing before I do the rolls. I wish I could send you pictures. Thank you the video. 😍
That sounds like excellent progress Michele, well done!!👍🥰💜
If you find that your thread is becoming tangled quite often or bunching up on the back, try cleaning the machine Per the manufacturer’s directions. I use pipe cleaners and I am always sure to take out the bobbin case and clean underneath that. And you’re right, a friend who owns a sewing machine store says to always completely re-thread your sewing machine, including the bobbin, when it’s acting finicky. Have fun!
@@jirafstudio Thank you so much for the information and its been working fine now that I rethreaded, so now I just have to learn how to make a bobbin. I'm just nervous. 🥴
Excellent tips!!!😁👍💜
Thanks so much for this video , I am just starting on craft room tidy / re sort so these tips will be so used for my paper and card scraps . Take care x
Fantastic, and it's lovely to see you again!!!!🤗💜
This is a great idea! Thank you!
You're very welcome!!👍🥰💜
I’m running behind trying to catch up on your videos… I’m going to try the 4 step organizing! I especially love the idea of a color of the month ! You are such a blessing to this community, thank you so much! 🦋
Oooh thanks for this, really appreciate it Mary!!🥰👍🌿💜
Great tips. Thank you
Thanks very much!🥰
Thank you for sharing this Joie..it is fantastic and so well explained and demonstrated. Being a card maker, I don’t have anywhere near the number of scraps that you do but I do love collage and those snippets look easy and. You have used yours so elegantly.
Very generous!!🥰👍💜
Maintenance is so important to staying organized...really like Steps #2 simultaneously sorting scraps as you create into their coordinating containers & #3 varying your projects to keep levels manageable. Thank you Joie for sharing what works for you!! ❤🤗
You're very welcome!🥰💜👍
Fabulous Joie, thanks for the sewn scraps tutorial, going to have a go! I have the same sewing machine, as soon as you started sewing I so knew that sound!! x
Aaah, and it's so much fun using it too!!!👍🥰💜
So interesting to see how someone else keeps their scraps....in particular there is just something about those scraps that are STRIPS that I love. I have all my strips laying flat in a transparent wallet at the moment and sometimes I just like to look at them for their aesthetic effect 😅 [Perhaps I should be putting them together as a single collage....that would be the obvious thing (!) I don't know why I haven't done it already 🙄
...and I completely understand your love of those scraps 👍😁🤣🤣💜
What a great video…thanks 🙂
Thanks Trish!💜👍
Great tips thank you 😍
Thanks very much 🥰
I love love love this video, Joie! Such wonderful ideas for all our scrappy scraps! 😊
Fantastic!!!! Thank you so much!💜🥰
Great ideas
Thanks Donna !!👍🥰
Very useful ideas. Thanks
You're very welcome
I so needed to see this video, I try very hard to keep my scraps small but they are mixed, just recently I separated by neutral , digitals , scrapbook & card or file folder pieces.Well I have some videos to watch.
Splendid!! I think we all have scrap management issues from time to time 🤭🤭👍🥰💜
That' s great, I often wondered how you did your scraps to keep them nice and neat! I kind of started this, now I will get it done! Thank you Joie!
Excellent!! It's been so helpful to have a system. Good luck!!🥰👍💜
Useful ideas, thanks! i bet you will enjoy that box system even more if you start decorating the boxes themselves in the style of your projects. I personally love my artsy storage boxes, especially enjoy them lately, since i came up with the idea of reinforcing lids with wooden strips (i cut the wood, glue it to the sides of the lid and then "upholster" the lid decoratively) and using hinges to attach boxes to the lids. Sturdy boxes (made to your own requirement for sizing) with lids are attractive and stackable.
What a fabulous idea!!!👍🥰💜
The one did remind me of a clutch!
Haha, I didn't imagine it then Cathy! Thanks so much for popping by to watch!💜🥰👍
Awesomeness! I love your organization of your scrap pieces! Great video on ways to use them as well! You make such pretty paper snippet rolls! Thank you so much for sharing! God bless! Love hugs and prayers my friend! ✝️😇💜🤗🙏✝️
Thanks very much Julia!!👍💜🥰
Joie: great instructions and ideas. Love the organization skills. Thank you. Carol from California
Thanks Carol!!!👍🥰💜
Nice! I'm new here and am looking forward to going back and viewing some of your earlier videos. I already sort into two sizes of scraps, but I think I'd like to try to further break down by at least the neutrals. This would save time constantly going through the scraps to find what I want. Question: when you are using snippets, do you take the next little section available and then look for other papers to go with the colors, or do you cut into the middle of the roll when you want something with, say, pink?
I have a coloured one and a neutral one in the go, and I try not to hack it up. If anything I choose collage papers to match the next piece of snippet. 💜🥰👍
Thanks Joie. Those were good ideas. I'm going to have to look at my scraps to see if something like this will work for me. I made one of your expanding pocket things and I love it. And yes, it is very much clutch purse like. 😁
Hee hee, a clutch purse, exactly!!🥰👍💜
Ooo! Marvelous idea for organizing scraps! I wonder why this haste be thought of before? Such simple steps! Thank you and thank you for the ideas of using them! 💖..new subbie here! Hello!
Welcome Cherri!! Great to meet you! I hope you have a great time browsing my videos and just shout if you have any questions!!🥰👍🌿💜
I have large zippered bags with tons of scraps. These bags no longer close due to the amount of scraps. I think I will get my sewing machine set up to sew these scraps!
Yay!! Sounds like a great idea!!👍🥰💜
Organization… 👍
Indeed 👍🥰💜
Another good vid, Joie. Your system seems to work well! Being a hobbyist and not selling my jjs, I have limited space for paper scraps. I use plastic zipped pouches to store small and med sizes, with strips propped up in a box. Then, when ready to use, I unzip the pouches to find the treasures I want. No sewing, though. I like the tips you shared on how you use your scraps, which gives me some good leads. Thanks much! Be well. 🌻🌻🌻
Great feedback, thanks so much!!!!💜💜
The tiny thin pieces look like ricrac.🌻
They do!!!!💜
I've been doing some snippet rolls with paper and fabric. Very tactile. For some reason, I collect tons of skinny long strips. So I'm experimenting with making paper ruffles for page edges and belly bands.
Scraps are like bunnies; they multiple at night while we sleep.🤪
Awesome!! I have been ripping up and using those long ones too. Love the idea if adding your fabric pieces. So wonderfully tactile indeed!!! 💜
