    I really like how you demo this on smaller waves that expose the characteristics MUCH better than head high and up videos where everything is so fast and "hidden" - and love how you comment on the rails grabbing, showing the small things noone else covers! PLEASE keep up the excellent work!! you REALLY help us boneheads make more educated purchases. I would HIGHLY recommending having an intro link to a base video covering volume/length and rider types - that would also REALLY help people not buy a board 2-3 sizes out - kudos for the great info man, just picked up a lost swordfish half price, was an order and customer changed his mind.. im 6-2/185lbs intermediate/20 years surfing and hope the 5-10/32.5L is a good all round size for me!
    Update:
    After riding the swordfish for a year all I can say it how was I living in a cave for so long - this thing RIPS. My first session was at Huntington on perhaps the most perfect of days, glass top, 4-6 footers perfectly and a great crowd of guys to surf with (no egos!) - The first 2 waves I couldnt even ride cos by the time my brain clicked into gear the waves was almost over - i SHOT out of the takeoff so fast I couldnt even correct enough. After I tightened it up - WOW - BLOWN AWAY. This thing handles everything you throw at it and more- I can see this handling 2ft mushy waves to over head without breaking a sweat - and possibly setting a speed record! Im 6-2 185lbs and ride a 5-10 in a 33 Litre swordfish. Its PERFECT! I used to go 6-2 to 6-6..

    Epic show man! How do you compare the Swordfish vs the Rocket Wide? (You rode both in the same dims in your reviews) I think the RW is best as a groveller and the SF as a high performance

    • @surfnshowreviews7777
      @surfnshowreviews7777  4 роки тому +9

      The SF can handle bigger surf and carries more speed (Better Daily Driver). I think the RW offers a smoother transition from rail to rail (better Flow) and a tighter turning radius in wraps.

    Damn Noel you're killing me, you just got me super pumped on the Hydra this morning & then I rewatched how much speed you were generating on this board, bad a** !! Right around 4:47 you find another gear - NICE ! Best quote 'The board carries is much speed you find yourself getting out of the pocket & if thats the only downside of the board then thats a good board to me' ' lol

    • @surfnshowreviews7777
      @surfnshowreviews7777  4 роки тому +3

      rowanhicksdroskyn AP is a better Groveler... paddles better and has more glide. The SF will out perform the AP due to it being longer... more rail line offers more drive through turns. The SW has more rocker so it’s wave range is better from 2-6’ surf. The Ideal wave range on the AP is 1-4’ surf.

I'm an Aussie residing on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland and grabbing a board off the shelf in C4 construction is impossible and not readily available in surf shops here. I've actually never seen one in real life!!! So Matt Biolos, get your act sorted in Australia and I'll be riding one of your boards in stock dims when you do.... OK, Noel I'd love to see you review the model by Superbrand called the Tazer and I'll happily pay for the board for review if Superbrand doesn't deliver!!! Mark Trevor Thanks for your kind words and generous offer to pay for the board you want me to review. At this point I need more requests for that board for me to review that model. I try hard to focus on the bigger brands and popular models that most shops carry stock world wide. This concept helps surfers and shops everywhere. Occasionally I do something unique or I choose a model from a mid size board brand that looks fun to shred. I also try to get models that I get a lot of requests for. I’m not saying no.... I just need more interest from our community. Cheers

    Hi Noel. What’s the relationship between the length of a board versus wave size? If the waves were firing (say 4-6 ft or possibly bigger) I wouldn’t know whether to take out a 6”1, 6”2, 6”4, etc. please advise. Thanks for the awesome content!

    • @surfnshowreviews7777
      @surfnshowreviews7777  4 роки тому +1

      Imran Esack It’s really about what your looking for as a surfer and how you want to surf bigger waves. For me I like a shorter board for So Cal waves where I surf. If I surfed HI or heavy beach break then I might want a little longer board with more rocker to give me more hold and rail line to push through my turns. The down side for extra length can be less maneuverability or slower reaction time as it takes a split second longer to turn them compared to a shorter board. Everything in surfing is a preference and how things feel... as your skill level advances you will change your equipment to fit the turns you want to do and how fast you want to do them. Speed is one important thing in surfing and as the waves get bigger you work less to generate speed... now it’s about controlling that speed and now it’s about quickness in your equipment responding to your thoughts in critical sections or maneuvers. Obviously this all matters more to each surfer’s skill level.

    • @imranesack1560
      @imranesack1560 4 роки тому +1

      Surf n Show Reviews great response. The key I guess is trying out boards to see which one works best. Been watching a lot of surf vlogs lately and brief discussion always comes up regarding the length of their equipment, however, the reason why the length is needed is never addressed. Thank you for your comprehensive response. Hopefully after COVID-19 I’ll be able to give it a go !🤙🏽

    Hi! Great Review.
    I weigh 165Lb / 75kg, intermediate level and mostly surf beachbreak. I already have a set of FUTURES F6 ALPHA THRUSTER, categorized as balance that I think covers a wide range of conditions.
    Now I'm looking for a new set, in the Speed Generating family for waves between 2-4ft,
    and I am in doubt between;
    - Solus Generation Series- considered to be Rake despite having the smallest central fin that I think increases the "loose" feeling ...
    - HS2 Generation Series, the only ones considered pivot in this category (speed generating)
    Although I don't have vertical surfing, I am looking for a fin that will allow me to turn quickly on small waves without losing speed. In your opinion which fin do you advise?
    the board is a 5'10 - 20- 2.50 - 32.50L swordfish.
    Thank you!

      Guy Katz UD XL has similar DIMS but its not a fish.... rocker, Concaves, tail designs, outline shapes and curves..... etc. So many differences in each design and thats what makes each board model so unique. Surf boards are cool like that.... very rare to surf two boards and they feel exactly the same.. even if they are the same model, shaped by the same guy, and glassed at the same time. UD XL offers more performance in the pocket by design, the SF might carry a little more down the line speed.

    Noel hopes all good! Wondering about something. Have you ever tried your look alike kelly slater quad set up with that little trailer? 😁 Got to wondering as I watched the NVS fin video you did. I did order the LSF in lib . Did have to order it in 5'6 . took your advice. You said if you were in a predicament take the larger size... Im just about the exact size as You.. Can't wait. Curious too, will you review those NVS fins in the set up they suggested? you do an awesome job keeping us posted on the fins with the board reviews. Again thanks for your input and help adding to my quiver!!!

      Natural Born Reeler I will be doing more fin testing on the NVS fins for sure. Yes I have tried a nubster on fin configuration like Kelly and it works great... a little more hold. That little nubster really keeps the board from sliding out with a Quad set up.... if that’s the set up your talking about?

      @@surfnshowreviews7777 Noel, can you expand on that? Assuming that the fishbeard is a fish version of the neckbeard, which is super high performance in smaller-ish waves, I would think it would combine the best of both worlds (performance shorty and twin fish). How does it differ when you're riding from the swordfish. Thanks

    • @surfnshowreviews7777

      @@cwr8618 The FB is a Twin Fin (2 boxes only) and comparing a board like the Swordfish that comes with a 5 fin option to a Twin Fin is never a good comparison in my book. I understand what your saying about the FB and SW outline looks close but the fin box position alone on the SF is most likely to far forward (making the SW super Loose) to be considered a Twin Fin deign. I am sure there is more to be said about that but I am not a Shaper..... The other point I want to make is.... surfing a performance Twin Fin will never feel or respond like a Thruster... that center fin in a Thruster changes everything.
      Really the only similarities between the FB and SF is there high Performance outline (Pointed Nose) and sleek stretched outlines for the word "Fish" to be in their names. The NB2 is a small wave performance board converted to a performance Fish in the FB, and the RNF Retro (Round Nose Fish) converted into a high performance Fish called the Swordfish. I personally like the idea and concept of both of these two boards and I hope to see more models like this coming and create their own category.

    Great review. Does 1 inch make that much of a difference? At the end of the day that's only as long as my thumb.

    • @surfnshowreviews7777
      @surfnshowreviews7777  4 роки тому +6

      1" in length makes a big difference. When you add 1' in length they usually add a little more width and thickness. That width and thickness plus 1" in length added 1 extra liter in float. The extra width offers more speed and glide, and that little extra thickness allows me to push harder through my turns. I have come to the conclusion that if I gain 8-10 pounds of weight to my frame then I will need to add 1 Liter more foam to offset the foam - performance ration that I like. So yes the 1" is a big deal when you want to maximize performance. The Pro's are way more sensitive.... they freak over 0.5" longer.
