    our neighborhood in houston opened our doors to many people from new orleans and soon regretted it. with the influx came crime, looting and murder. our neighborhood was lost.

      I went to Mississippi after Katrina for money and supplies. The volunteers were sad for me coming from New Orleans (metropolitan). I looked around and told them that I felt bad for Mississippi. It was just match sticks. If not for the levees being bombed, New Orleans would have been fine.

    No one ever wants to talk about the cities who opened their homes for the evacuees, and then had crime rates rise. My small city took in about hundred and in about 2 weeks we were ready for them to leave. They stole from us, lied, grifted businesses, and demanded free stuff. We genuinely wanted to help, but wont do that again next hurricane.

    There were poor whites. and blacks that died . I think the city of New Orleans need to pay for every life that was lost in that genocide murder in the 9th ward which was the poorest of the poorest of. residential districts in New Orleans. God bless those that were lost.

    it's very true! I'm a native from New Orleans & hurricane katrina survivor. during slavery the white men felt in love with the beautiful Creole women. many had them for mistresses& have brought them plantations with there own slaves& houses in the French quarters or the 7th home of the Creole plantations in new Orleans. still today some Blacks didn't like Creoles and Creoles usually stick with there own kind. Some of my family is Creoles. most Creole married within there family blood line.

    • @jboss729
      @jboss729 2 роки тому +5

      True. My family on my mom's dad;s side is Creole and from New Orleans. They did not like it when my grandfather married my grandmother a beautiful darker woman. They are taught to marry other Creoles. This was big in my family back in the day. Whereas it was mostly women who faced this discrimination it was present among men too. Smh. Some of my family still are tying to pass for white to this day but will deny it when you confront them. LOL. Moreover the family history of our is very rich. West African(mainly) but also French, Spanish, Native American, Asian, Asian Indian and even some Arab. Its definitely a "gumbo:" of cultures.

    Same thing happened in North Carolina September 15, 1999 when hurricane Floyd hit! The communities Princeville, East Tarboro, the town of Pinetops, Speed, Old Sparta Leggett and so many more places consisted of majority black folks. And most of them relocated after the flood. They knew it was coming because the major of the community of Princeville evacuated their home along with their belongings.

    I'm self employed for a long time. I make things happen, if i did not have the abilities that make me money, i'd wash windows, i'd clean cars. i'd clean up my neighborhood and build a fence.
    That's what i'm talking about, it's not an insult to suggest it - but some people take it that way. If you're out of a job, make something happen. Gotta be creative , i know it's not easy. Lots of things aren't easy. But it's like ICEcube said , the crab in the bucket effect.

    Evacuation of New Orleans did occur in the 1998 and 2004 for storms, so stop. Westhampton has been hit by storms in the past, but the so called “rich white” people weren’t harmed because it a resort beach area for secondary homes. They leave when a storms approach, so stop. The feds did not repair damaged homes on tax payers, secondary homes do not qualify for FEMA funds, so stop. 54% of residents affected in N.O. were renters, they don’t own, so they don’t get their homes replaced, so stop.

    pushing the same old bullshit, even though I do agree with what he said about Katherine Harris.There is truth and glaring weakness in every ism and as Americans we should be able to separate the wheat from the chaff and use the ideas from all of them that best serve us all, not just the wealthy or poor or dark skinned or light. The constant characterization and labeling of every one does not serve any of us but those that truly wish to hold us all in bondage, economicly racially religiously

    Thats' cause African Americans need to stop thinking that someone should give them somthing. It's so self destructive. African Americans need to get out and fix things, do things and make things happen. it IS possible, and it DOES work. Start by totally cleaning your back yards and your own houses. Your problem is most often your own mentality.

Passionate intellectual speech patterns cannot mask the cursory facts that are meant to excite the minds of a public that wants to hear about the apparent disparaging treatment of the poor people of New Orleans.Not just blacks, but all poor were affected (to be fair).
