I think it would make brilliant jewellery especially if you add different coloured flakes in areas with coloured resin in between. I think that it might make the item look like it had been coated with titanium which is very common in natural minerals and stones at the moment.
Not sure if this would work but putting the pieces back into the mold - design side up then filling it with clear resin, cure them. Loved the way they came out the different levels of the opal flakes in the craters. Very Cool!!
What a cool and unique idea,Ms Tracey. Loved how the allum was added to the mould and the textures it created, those moon craters turned out amazing 💜😍❤,you really opened another door to infinite possibilities of using this in resin art, looking forward to more related art projects 😀 💜💜
Thanks. I really am not sure where to go with this idea, I'm thinking on it :) I'm looking forward to seeing if others run with it. a simple idea for starters I think is a simple tray or coaster.
Frankly, Tracey, I wouldn't top or dome them with anything! They are gorgeously unique. There will never be an identical result, which could turn out a real selling feature. You could put a small gem stone in one or two of larger craters as an added feature, but they are lovely as they are and would make lovely pendants.
oooh i like the idea of t iny stones in the craters - I must do that . I'll make a note that it was your idea to make sure I credit you. If you do any would you share pics or a video link please?
Put them back in the mold, and fill the holes with another color like the black one with a vibrant turquois and the teal one with black and silver? LOVE LOVE LOVE the video Well done
Yes it took me by surprise too. i think it's because although most of them stuck reasonably well to the mould, it kinda clumped because water doesn't like silicone. I'm now trying to make sure I can replicate this on a larger scale but it'll take a while. The slower the crystals form, the bigger they are
@@miniscenesgb so true. Love alum crystals but hate waiting for them to form. I'm more of an instant gratification type (reason I use UV resin). So I just buy the crystals already done. But after seeing your video, I'll have to try making them myself.
Serendipity! I would have domed these, too. Maybe would have highlighted some spots with either glitter nail polish or mica powder. I think they are gorgeous!
I would make a heap of them in different colours and sizes then place them into a tray making a pattern from the different colours and sizes once done pour more resin over the top of them all to seal them into the tray, they look like gems so the whole tray should look stunning and be a great conversation starter with having tea with friends 🤗🤗🤗🤗

when you domed them they look like a piece of underwater ruins with the colour and all. It looks so cool! if you ever do a mini aquarium, this would be a great rock bottom
Yes, doming them was the only way to ensure the integrity of them. I think the way to go is making a druzy as you would then have edge integrity with any piece yo made. I think the doming also accentuated the void shapes more. Great idea Tracey!
First time watcher here! The last, colorful ones would make wonderful elements for jewelry! I have no idea about the allum/making crystals stuff and I've got to find those videos.
I think they would make landscape pieces for people that like gaming & creating their own landscapes to have battles on, model railway landscapes (my stepdad is making a huge model railway landscape with lots of trains) or even to make fairy gardens. If made in different sizes & shapes so that they could be mix & matched to make unique landscapes, it would give infinite possibilities. They don’t all have to be straight edged. Some could have uneven edges like you get in nature. The transparent blue made me think of underwater ecosystems where you get little area where mini fish hide or plants grow out of etc. and bigger holes the entrances for caves. So the landscape idea doesn’t just work for lane but underwater scenes as well. Possibilities are endless & I’m going to give this a all with my Mum as she is into resin work & between us all manners of crafting. But a brilliant video that got the creative juices flowing
Yes i have since used it for model railway and dome some small items fo a scifi gamer. I make a lot of water feature items too so yes I will be using it for that too. Just need to replicate the effect a number of times so I can make druzy style inlays from it. As you say - so many possibilities, and great minds think alike :)
This gives me ideas! I tried to make druzy moulds by growing epsom crystals in a few moulds. Some crystals stuck in the moulds and I have no idea of how to clean them. Now I'll try a thin coat of resin and dissolve the crystals once cured!
Such a cool effect. I love how each one is unique. I'm definitely thinking they look like raw gemstones. Endless possibilities with all of the micas out there. They'd make some very interesting jewelry. 😍

Well today while walking my dog I saw some pretty salt crystals laying on side of the road so I picked up a handful. In Ohio so I guess I will be playing with them in some resin

Cool❤❤
Thanks
For these, I think I would have used a spray varnish rather than doming. At least as a start, lol. I'd be the weirdo using alcohol inks to bring out the craters.
Great ideas!
Well today while walking my dog I saw some pretty salt crystals laying on side of the road so I picked up a handful. In Ohio so I guess I will be playing with them in some resin
Nice please let me know how that goes. I've tried all sorts oof stuff that makes crystals but not yet salt. Have fun
I like it! I would wearvthose
Thanks :) I think I'll be turning at least 1 into a pendant for me to wear :)
To me, they look like the craters you see on images of the moon.
Yes I think so too
I thought bismuth also…..
with the use pf the right colours it does look bit like Bismuth yes
Not a new technique. You can do that with salt and just throw it in water and let the salt dissolve, no heat needed. Ta-da.
Thanks - Salt makes smaller crystals than Alum but otherwise yes similar but not same - not seen Alum used like this with Epoxy resin anywhere though, lease let me know i you have, I've searched the hell out of it. Could you share links to similar techniques please so I can make sure to signpost them? This used no heat hence not mentioned in the video btw
While I have been learning about resin techniques, I have watched countless tutorials, from all over and I have never seen anyone grow crystals in a mould and then do everything else you have done. If I had, I would have tried it by now! I love this technique and in my mind it is definitely unique. I'm really happy to have found this, thank you for sharing. It's come at a great time, as I'm in the planning stages of making aliens to make a mould, so I can cast them. This technique would make an ideal base for them. I think I'd add some tiny holo stars in some of the craters? It's all still in the earlish stages at the minute. Love your work and I appreciate you sharing it x
It's shouting industrial to me. Rusted bits of metal.
Oooh yes!
So pretty! love the hexagonal craters it's so funny just before you washed the alum out, I was thinking ooo I wonder if the crystals would wash out then you did it! Great minds!!
😊 thank you :) they washed out in seconds, dead easy
@@miniscenesgb I did the same with a silicone druzy mould I made and washed it out! Looked spectacular!!
@@spectonkular7510 Cool!
🩵✨🩵 malachite
Maybe yes :)
