    Thank you for the review. I just bought this model the other day and I'm thoroughly impressed. I also have the DeWalt 40 volt pro hedge trimmer, but that line has now been discontinued. The Echo is slightly lighter and I personally believe the cut quality is superior to the DeWalt.

    Purchased one of these today. Nice piece of equipment. It'll handle forsythia to an extent, but if you're really doing some heavy trimming on something like that, chainsaw is the way to go. Overall, I'm pleased with the way it functions. Easy to start, and will handle most home trimming projects. I learned my lesson years ago with cheap lawn equipment. Cheap lawn equipment performs exactly like that. My leaf blower is also an Echo, as is my weed whacker. Pricier than the cheap junk for sure, but well worth it.

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  2 роки тому +1

      Good point. I remember growing up having a cheap gas unit that was in the shop every few years for a repair. If you spend the money for quality, it pays for itself, especially buying ECHO products.

    Echo products seem to perform well. I've had a GT-225 string trimmer for four years that starts on about the third pull mostly. I think for landscape professionals a battery hedge trimmer or a gas hedge will depend on how often you actually use a hedge trimmer on clients properties. For personal use I only trim hedges around my home every couple of months. I found a great steal on the DeWalt 40v hedge trimmer kit last summer at Lowe's for $114. It works great and I don't have to worry about fuel sitting in a gas tool for a couple of months at a time.

    I own and use for my business the echo 2020 & the 20v DeWalt. The reason I use the DeWalt is because it is far lighter and can be used with one hand. I use the 2020 for fine work and when I need to take an excessive amount off to reshape a bush. The DeWalt is very good for maintaining bushes & saves me from sore arms. When you trim your bushes you should do it slower. Allow the trimmer to do its job. Thank you for the video.

      @@MarkThomasBuilder I just ordered one online this evening. I am glad you mentioned that, I was fixing to spray wd40 on my blade and bar prior to first use. I thought about A Poulan pro clipper due to it being half the price, after looking at Lowes at one and seeing how flimsy the handle was, I changed my mind. Those Poulans aren't that easy to start either. I wanted A Stihl or Echo that cut up to one inch limbs like Poulan advertised, the reason I am super happy you mentioned that.

    Just bought one, but have not used it yet. I have an Ego battery trimmer and four batteries, but unless you can plug in and recharge the batteries, you are limited to the time in the batteries ( I can usually continuously charge two batteries at a time and have battery 1 recharged by the time battery 4 is exhausted). The gas power will give me more freedom beyond a power source.)

    • @MarkThomasBuilder

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  Рік тому

      I'd make sure you let it warm up enough. Try to rev it a few times off an on and see if they'll start moving. Mine always takes awhile to warm up. I also use ECHO Red Armor blade lube and cleaner which helps the blades move easier after storage.
      One other thing that happened to one of my hedge trimmers is there was a nick in the blade and that prevented them from moving. I took a file to get rid of the burr and it worked fine ever since.
      Hope that helps. Let me know how it works out.
