This is what I’ve needed for so long. You have been the single most useful resource for my self teaching journey. Now when people ask me how I learned, I will say I was taught by Bernth!
For people scrolling through the comments to see if this exercise is good, I can assure you that it is. I've been doing this daily for like a week and the Hand Synchronization 2, especially the second part was impossible to me at first, but after doing it on 50% speed, and then 75% and then finally 100% speed I can FEEL that I have improved immensely and the fact that I can play through this entire thing when I previously couldn't is proof that I have. So if you're looking to improve your guitar play, this exercise is really good!
@@mfaridzzibran9806 when someone says they've been playing for X amount of years it's mostly a useless answer. The question is what have they been doing in those years? I've known people that became amazing players in 3 years and others who didn't get any better in the same amount of time. Also, remember it's not a competition and everyone is built differently. The most important thing is to have fun and stay motivated to keep playing.
@@ReadyMindsetGoI’ve had guitars since I was 12. Plinked around for a couple years. Quit until I was 19. Learned some power chords and pentatonics …….. 40 years later there’s Bernth, UA-cam, Marty Music. Coming back to this video to say THANK YOU. I started playing guitar in august 2021. In march 2023 I started following this routine and could barely do any of them properly. I struggled a lot with timing and because I'm a self taught player it was difficult to know how to set up a metronome properly by myself in order to play these exercises correctly at a slower speed. Today I can proudly say that I can play 95% of this. The Hand synchronization 2 which is by far the hardest one for me, still needs some work at 90bpm. So whoever is struggling with this don't give up. If I did it, you can do it too. Bernth is a great teacher and I've learned so much from him. He has a video about anything you'd need to get better. I've never spend a dime on guitar lesson, so grateful to have all of this content for free on UA-cam ! If you have the patience to be kind with yourself and play everyday, you'll get there 100%. Good luck to y'all !
Thank you for this Bernth! I've been following this workout for about 4 days now, and I can now follow through the entire thing without making major mistakes. My left hand feels way more fluid now while playing. I've even seen benefits in my typing technique :D. Once again, thank you❤

I've been doing this exercise for about a year now, and this has given me a lot of progress. About 6 months in I started wanting more challenge and moved up to 1.25x, and now I'm doing 1.5x. This is the most perfect guitar exercise for everybody out there playing guitar, acoustic or electric. Edit: I've started doing 1.75x but the Hand Sync 1 is too fast so I decided to stay on 1.5x on that one. Hooray
I’m such a dope. If only someone showed this to me when I was 15 back in 1978. I’m 58 and just beginning again. Best damn warm up on the web. Congrats!!!! Keep up the great work.
Ok, I've been playing a long time and I think block 2 identified my weakness. I only worked on it for 5 mins yesterday and today I feel sore muscles deep in my foreman. I was purposely staying relaxed too. Incredible!
I've been playing guitar for 6 months now, pretty religiously and could never find any real structured practice routine that I found fun or enjoyable, until I stumbled upon your channel. I literally spend my day at work waiting to come home to do another one of your routines haha, thank you so much man, for taking the time to do this and help me and others on their guitar journey. Absolute legend 🤘🏻🤘🏻.
I've been using these everyday since ive seen the original videos haha. My speed has nearly doubled and my fingers, especially the pink are MUCH more controlled.
Holy crap I did these exercises and by the end was naturally picking in an alternating pattern and moving with my hands in sync like never before. I've only been playing since Sep 16, 2021, so that's a big improvement.
@Bernthguitar thank you 10000x for this. After 15+ years of playing and hitting a recent plateau , I knew I needed to change up my practice routine. Like others, I was barely able to keep up at certain portions of this even at .5x. After 30 days, this is my go to warm up (and I can finally play through at tempo) My hands feel stronger than ever, but most importantly my mental coordination feels so much more precise. Appreciate you sharing all your incredible knowledge.

These are such a deceptively simple set of drills yet they kick me and inspire me to try it better the next round! Wish there are more teachers like you.
This is such a great all around session, would love to see another "practice along with me" type vid but focused more on picking (economy, alternate, string skipping, etc). Keep up the killer vids
Just decided to pick up guitar again, and started watching your videos. I thought that first warmup would be a breeze, but man leaving your fingers down makes it a lot more difficult. Very good video my friend! EDIT: The whole thing is hard lol thanks for such an awesome warm up. My fingers hate the Finger Pairing excercise!
I agree, at 40, I had a rekindle desire to play music and metal again,. but haven't played in 20+ years. Hell just the warmup is killing me on the lower frets because I;'ve never left my fingers down, so its so foreign to me, and my fingers aren't clearing the strings. So now Im practicing this, but dang this is hard. But being a single father of 3 girls, and working full time with my business, I don't have as much time to devote to playing like I did as a kid, however, I'm grabbing the axe ever chance I get, so I at least get an hour a day usually.
@@ayjbray If I'm being honest, I just haven't found much time. Most of the time, I'm simply making an excuse why I'm not grabbing it. But if I'm honest with myself, I just have some many things going on, when I do have some time, I'm finding I use it doing other things. I still play, and try to practice, but without a set schedule and setting aside time for simply practicing, this isn't doing what I intended. The exercises are great, its me that isn't being devoted enough.

I am so used to economy picking at first it was hard to strictly alternate pick especially through the strong hops but overall it was fun and I definitely feel it helps me technique wise
That spider walk is harder than it looks. I’m a self-taught lefty and beginner who just wants to play my guitar for fun. I noticed keeping my fingers planted on the string while I move other fingers is much harder than it looks. So that means I have to keep at it. 👍
This was a great one, Bernth! Having been on the channel for quite a while, it's always fun to catch glimpses of your previous exercises - they're all still very effective as chop-builders!
Great eye for detail Raghd! Yes, I always like to keep the most effective stuff around for a while, it definitely makes sense to keep working on some of these :)
Thank you Bernth. Your exercises are one of a kind and the progress I am making is amazing. I’m a forty year old father of two, a regional marketing lead, martial arts enthusiast and metal head guitarist. I have been looking for quick workout I can do every day with an acoustic (parent so yeah, the axe for weekends only). Something to keep my bpm (currently shredding at 230bpm) going faster and broader. Thank god for this video. Will do this every day. 15 min is just right. Let’s what this does after a month. Thank you sir! Much respect from Singapore.
I am so grateful that you are doing this to help others. I usualy play bass in crust/death band. But have started to make my own music. And its soooo irritating when I can hear in my head how I want a solo to be played. But I cant play it cuz of lack of teknik. Vielen dank aus Schweden.
Already know how to alternate pick, but it's always fun to do it in different ways and good practice. Was a little challenge. Keep it up man. Having fun playing and following you. Gonna help a lot of people reach their goals. Good job m8.
i’ve been practicing for about 4 months and just found out i’ve been putting my fingers the wrong way, it hurts SO BAD to play normally, but it’ll definitely improving, going to be using this video everyday from now on even if it’s just the first part of the video lol!!
Thank you for this technique workout! I came back to my guitar after 8+ years of hiatus and this is helping so much! I always neglected technique work in favor of simply playing the songs I wanted to. I've been doing this everyday day for two weeks now and I have no intention of stopping. It is astounding how much it is helping me rebuild and increase my ability to play. For the "Hand Synchronisation 1" bloc, I like to add the same exercise right after it but in "reverse". Instead of 7 8 9 10, I do 10 9 8 7, with the string order reversed. I have more trouble with going down scales rather than going up (for some reason) and it is helping me in reducing the number of notes I miss. I know that this is similar to the last exercise bloc, but it really feels different to play. Thank you very much once again.
I'm just getting back into playing after a decade of not touching a guitar. This looks like exactly the exercise routine I've been looking for to build up muscles, improve fingering issues I had before, and make more progress. Can't wait to get home and try it out! Would love to see more videos like this!

Such incredible fundamentals tips. I have been playing for years but was self taught. Never really took the time to properly learn alternate picking. These videos have really help me work on my fundamental a ton. Thank you so much for posting these.
nice video, these are a great idea. its cool to play along to someone else's routines when you feel tired of playing your own. and its cool to "sight read" these
Love it! My guitar teacher recommended this video to me, i try to do it every day now. If I may offer some feedback, a little bit of pre-roll before every new exercise would be great, at least before you memorize all the shapes (work in progress)
Been playing as lead guitarist for 3 yrs I can play hard solos but I wanted to improve even more by shredding on my guitar and develop improvisation and this video incredibly helpful.
Done! I went throuth this even more fluid to each next exercise with more ease this time! 🌀🐺🤘🏻 My 8th notes speed is increasing at the very end too. I am still a bit shaky on getting my middle finger down fast enough. I will watch your left hand some more!
I've been playing guitar casually for the last 16 years. I have never dedicated time to exercise / learn new techniques and my playing has suffered as a result. My playing is sloppy and while I feel like I come up with decent ideas the execution is not as tight as I want it to be and not consistent. Doing this exercise today has kicked my ass and shown me that in order to improve I need to dedicate time doing these exercises and actually learn new techniques properly. I will be doing these exercises daily.
This is a lot harder than I thought it would be, really highlights how out of sync my hands are. Trying to hold pick hand right and keeping posture etc...never tried to do anything like this before so I’m feeling rather disheartened but will keep at it and hopefully it improves. Thank you so much 🤘🏼🤘🏼
I bought your 10 Steps to modern shredding course (in 2 days I´m in week 6) and I begin my practice sessions every time with this workout. Great excercise, it's good that there are different blocks/area of focus. Some were more difficult for me than others but at least I know which technique I have to practice more.
Hello, Bernth. You have excellent teaching skills & techniques in your videos. I'd like think of myself as an intermediate level guitar player with a lot of room for improvement. The only real training I ever took was when I first picked up the guitar at about 8 years old for only about a year or so before I stopped taking lessons altogether. After that, I practiced minimally if at all until I got a new desire to play again in my very early teens in which I practiced often either alone or with other friends who played at, about or slightly ahead of my level of experience/ skill. Eventually, I began sitting in on some local bands practices, which was a key learning experience. By my mid-20's, I gradually started playing less & less guitar or not at all again for about 20 years. I guess my excuse was because I never got around to replacing with a new guitar & gear. I've recently regained my passion & desire to be a great guitar player again at 48 yrs old. Been playing on my new guitar & amp for a couple/few months now. I've also discovered your channel, Bernth. Using your videos, I've been able to lose a lot of the old rustiness I gained from not playing for so long, as well as learning some really great playing guides/tools that really help me develop my playing knowledge, ability & style. I'm hooked on your video's now and am sure I won't be losing interest ever again! Thank-you for inspiring a new spark in me - I'm ready to keep on growing my skills and never stop learning as I keep developing into the best guitarist I can be! 💪🎸😎🎸👍
That was so awesome! I played through the entire exercise and I already feel a difference! My hand feels like it at a meal. I went to the gym. Or both. It feels satisfied. Thanks Bernth I'ma join Patreon 🌀🐺👌🏻🎸🔥

Ich möchte sie danke, denn Ich sehr viel mit deine videos gelernt habe. Und Sie auch mich motiviert zu deutsch gelernt!
Best is to get a real life teacher who can see exactly what you're doing and prevent you from hurting yourself.
Bitte mehr von diesen 'Follow Along' guitar workouts! Und auch ruhig die Keywords 'Follow Along' in den Titel mit einbauen, dann solltest du noch mehr aufrufe bekommen :P
Excellent video! I had fun while improving my guitar techniques, thank you!
I think ill start with this video. I will be going through all your videos to study and practice. Ill come back again to this video after a year and see how much i improved.
Need more practice vids like this...most people dont know how to practice....Great video!!
I had a lot of fun today practicing with you, Bernth. Thank you!
This is awesome! It took me over an hour to get through it the first time, and it gave my fretting hand a run for its money! I will be using this every day, I would love to see more of these!
Such incredible fundamentals tips. I have been playing for years but was self taught. Never really took the time to properly learn alternate picking. These videos have really help me work on my fundamental a ton. Thank you so much for posting these.
Go ahead bro..from India.👍🏻👍🏻
Greetings to India! :)
Block 5 was i big challenge for me. It easier if I sweep pick it.Your alternate picking is Stellar Bernth !
I been doing this everyday for a week im seeing solid improvement thanks bearnth your the best, I’ll rejoin patron as soon as I can afford it again
This helped me alot of my flying pink, especially the left hand technique
nice video, these are a great idea. its cool to play along to someone else's routines when you feel tired of playing your own. and its cool to "sight read" these
Best guitar lesson/warmup video ever ever!
Love it! My guitar teacher recommended this video to me, i try to do it every day now. If I may offer some feedback, a little bit of pre-roll before every new exercise would be great, at least before you memorize all the shapes (work in progress)
we need more of this!!!
Great idea for practice routines, doing it like bodybuilding but guitar chops.
this practice video is the BEST !!!!!!!!!!!!! BRAVO TO BERNTH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much, You really help people around the world who want to play guitar
I really enjoyed the synchronization practice
Been playing as lead guitarist for 3 yrs I can play hard solos but I wanted to improve even more by shredding on my guitar and develop improvisation and this video incredibly helpful.
Thanks man I tried and tried and tried and now I finally have the broken fingers🙌🙌🙌
You seriously rock! I don't play but I sing and I am referring you to everyone I know. This is great stuff. Thank you!
This is a lot harder than I thought it would be, really highlights how out of sync my hands are. Trying to hold pick hand right and keeping posture etc...never tried to do anything like this before so I’m feeling rather disheartened but will keep at it and hopefully it improves. Thank you so much 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Thanks so much for this Bernth and greetings from Seattle!
Your videos have helped me take my playing to levels I never thought possible!
Greetings to Seattle! 🙂🤘
I bought your 10 Steps to modern shredding course (in 2 days I´m in week 6) and I begin my practice sessions every time with this workout. I really love it and the course too but I think to get to a level I could be proud of I need to make the course more than one time :D
I just wanna say thank you, because I improved so much in the last couple of weeks 💪🤘🔥🔥
Nice, at first when i was reading the title of the video, i thought „damn, every day he is publishing a new type of learning stuff like „do this every day“ and i was like „damn how should learn all this, i still need to practise his first ideas“. And then ive watched the video and thought „wow, you know all of this training techniques and you do actually EXACTLY these training stuff every day“. This was the point i realised that i got a lot of information and tips of your videos and i know what i have to learn. Thanks a lot for your channel. You deserve ways more viewers and subscribers!
Thanks for your time as a master of guitar

really like this workout, at first it took me like half an hour to get all the excercises kind of right, now I can mostly follow along, except for the hand synchronization 2 excercise, this excercise is still killing me. But I got much better, so thanks!:)

Big fan of this style of video! I play along with your chromatic exercise most days as a warmup!
You are great man!.. Lots of love from INDIA 🇮🇳
good job, most youtubers charge to teach this that you do for beginners, but you don't do it and you teach very well, there is no other channel that teaches you this way, keep it up, greetings
This took me about 45 min to complete it but its amazing! keep it up.

Thanks so much, Bernth!
I thought I was fairly proficient technically speaking and... this video proved me wrong. dozens of rewinds, had to break midway through, arm is on fire. BUT. It was still fun as hell. Always a sign of a good exercise session, no matter the form it took. Looking forward to doing this again tomorrow.
you know you are practicing along with the right guy when his flawless 15 minute practice is your mistakes everywhere 45 minute practice. Sticking with this daily til its perfect along with some other BERNTH vids on sweeps and coordination.
WHOOOOOOOAAAA - week 1 and made it through second part of block 5 with no (major) errors! following the daily routines is THE WAY
Did it for 5 in a row and I already noticed an improvement! Thanks for sharing ✨
