My first modern(ish) jet, and one of my most favourite aircraft to play. Such fun to reach Mach 1 in a horizontal line in less than a minute before pointing the nose 90degrees up and levelling off in under a minute at 10km or more high.
I remember playing top tier in my B-17 and a friendly f-104 rammed me at mach 2 instantly turning me into paste.
To be fair, F-104s have a history of colliding with bombers that have the number 7 in the name.

Let's talk about the fact that the Tornado can nearly get outturned by this thing, because Gaijibles said so.
"Nearly" lol the tornado makes the f-104 feel like a chaika.
the tornado doest turn and if it turns it gets its wings broken
@@ivanandrade6211 this thing also does not turn, and if you break off wings - you ll find out that 104 don’t even need them to continue flying. Those things on the sides are just a decoration for pilots to feel more familiar.
@@alexey_chekhovich in fact when you fly over mach 1 wings doesnt generate lift force only drag but you still need the control surfaces so its better to not get rid of them
the tornado has a on-manual g limit of 2.5g with wing tanks

9.3 may seem mean vs the sabers and mig-15s, but if you bump it up just a little it's the one getting crushed. The Starfighters really need flares, but Gaijin gave all the other nations the best Starfighters with countermeasures (even though the US was the one building and exporting them or at least licensing the designs, so wtf). So these early Starfighters have nowhere else to go, thanks to the awesome BR compression.
The American f104’s were never fitted with flares, they were flareless even running cap missions in Vietnam with the c variant.

It's not a good plane but it works, especially if the decompress better. It's nigh untouchable if you play it right
@@mekiyahhazbin1720 how?, at 10.0, it's speed which is the only thing it is good at, is both surpassed and matched by aircraft with significantly better maneuverability, oh and try maneuvering against any missile.
The tiny wings give it no AOA, no turn, and no lift. If you go too slow you'll just become a bus and die, so its impossible to reverse someone, and of course you could always outrun them, but you don't even have the speed advantage, and even if you did they would just missile you. The F-104 has no place in WT's matchmaker right now, it either clubs or gets clubbed.

In Germany, it was called Witwenmacher (widow maker), Erdnagel (earth nail), Fliegender Sarg (flying coffin) and of cause Starfighter.
It had a bad reputation here, but the Bundeswehr used it for the wrong stuff, like bombing. xD

I remember on a video when the F104 was first introduced somebody said that the German government at the time was looking for a new multirole fighter, and Lockheed convinced them that the F104 could fill that role. We know how well that turned out by the wonderful nicknames it received.

I remember when 9.0 was max for aircraft RB, having MiG-15 and Sabres. Now there are planes at 9.0 that have afterburners and IR guided missiles.
I don't care what anybody says, i still enjoy flying my higher tier 104's in game. I idolize them for their sheer whackness.

I just have the mach cone disabled. Its extremely handy in supersonic fights when everyone else but you has they're vision blocked lol.

I started to stop asking around a year ago after asking for around a year
flaps and slats down the F-104 can actually pull some insane turns, it apparently would surprise people IRL with this capability too. then of course it can extend away on nearly anything
The 104 is such beautiful craft but also so strange. Its like the airforce wanted a missle that could be piloted.

the f104A makes one of the best slow speed dogfighters in the entire game, not because of it's turn but because of it's ridiculous stall control and engine power... by far my best jet for reversals as well.
I 1v1'd an F-104 once on a Vautour and it was one of the most epic dogfights I've ever done, that was a bus fight for sure haha

Went to the Pearl Harbor Air museum today, had a nice f-104 there, so tiny. Surprisingly the f16 is about the same size just with curves. The f111 and f14 are enormous.

The main reason that the F-104A and C got moved down (IMO) is that they just absolutely sucked at their job at 9.7 and 10.0. Especially once you add in 30G all aspect missiles and a lack of flares.
But dang, this thing brings me back. I had a dogfight on the deck of Berlin in this thing against a 104S. We were going at best 150mph, only 300 meters above the ground at our highest, thatching and slowly working out each other's weaknesses. I was so close to getting the kill, when a Mig-21 3rd partied with his missile.
I agree about the Su-7. The MiG-23BN is 9.7 and it's pain but at least you can bomb and run if nothing else.

Phly you should replay the bradley and use the atgm right this time and show the true power of the bradley. You don't have to aim above the target with the atgm for it to explode above the target. It already does that just aim center mass

Even tho it's different, it's super entertaining. You remind me of a character from an AC game. No one specific, but you bring the missing element into WT that AC has.

It feels near impossible to miss with the Vulcan and going supersonic. It just makes it worse after you downtier and the little MiG-15’s and G91’s are trying to dogfight, so they stay slower and harder to maneuver. It’s just shootin fish in a barrel really
