I know this is a late response but yes, oxytocin release is a seen in both males and females. Although it plays important roles in childbirth and milk-ejection, it is also considered the "bonding hormone". In fact, a long, passionate hug with a loved one will induce oxytocin release, causing you to feel better. Oxytocin is also involved with copulation, more specifically orgasms.
