Would you say these are a good buy at $190? Black Friday sale is tempting.
can you please review Danner 600 Mountain Leaf version they just came out with? with goretex
You every gonna do the Danner Vicious? It's a pretty popular work boot alot of people seem to like it, I'd like to see the inside lol.
That's really shocking! I wouldn't have any idea what to look for in a decent boot if not for your channel. Keep up the great work.
You can’t 😢
I live here in Portland where the Danner factory is. I've temped with folks who also worked at Danner and said they relied really heavily on temp workers and treated them poorly. Breaks were *exactly* 15 minutes and started as soon as they stepped away from their station.
We get decent minimum wage here but the two folks I talked to both said they would never go back. I appreciate USA made stuff,, but that sounded kinda crummy. Not first hand info, but my $0.02.
Thanks for the videos!
I would suggest tugging on the Danner thread a little more. I’ve had 3 different styles of Danners that have experienced catastrophic failure within the first few months of wear and none of them were cheap. Maybe I’m just the unluckiest guy in the world, but maybe it’s something else.
Mine have been great
over the last 15-20 years i've been trying different work boots each year, Danner makes the only one I have bought twice. I've had some Danners that weren't that great but overall i've had good luck with them.
Hmm, I had the exact same results, coincidence? I don't think so
I have the worst luck with the stitching on any work boot but I’ve never had sole stitching come apart so bad on a boot as I did with Danners.
I've always been suspicious of some of the models. I have one that hella stitched downs and hardcore leather that I bought about 10 years ago and it's held up. But they've definitely trended towards fashion boots since then.
Would love to see you break down the mountain lights. A classic hiking boot series (including Vasque Modern and vintage, Danner, solovair, and similar brands) would be really helpful for me as a geologist in the field often.
That'd be really interesting. I'd add my go-to brand these days, Scarpa.
love the danner light 2s, ironically 😂
Viberg also
They are also very common with National Park Service rangers as they are in the uniform site.
Mountain lights are my rural living winter boots.
I’ve told 2 cobblers, shoe repairer’s here in NW Oklahoma about your channel. I’ll bet that they enjoy it also.
When you get finished we know the good, the bad & the ugly about a pair of shoes.
Thank you Sir

You should pin this
Can you cut up a pair of Danner super rain forest? I'd like to see how their fully American made line stacks up.
Any chance of ever making a wallet with a small pouch for change integrated into it? My husband needs a new wallet, but we live in Germany. Because there are coins worth more than 25 cents here, most people carry around their change and spend it, and don't want their change flying around loose.
Y’all should make knife slips . I would love to have a well built slip .
Most hiking and mountain boots (including boots far tougher than these Danners) are glued only construction. Even those with 2.8mm leather uppers. It's not a problem nowadays with modern glues and manufacturing processes.
As far as the Goretex membrane is concerned it's usually bits of grit that work their way into the boot, that puncture the GTX membrane.
Boots lined with Goretex never breathe as well as boots without the membrane. Perhaps 30% as well, though the boots liner material on the inside against the foot will absorb a certain amount of moisture.
Also, when the boot outer is saturated, the membrane will breathe much less (or not at all).
This can be mitigated to some degree by treating the outer of the boot with leather waterproofing products .
The biggest problem with GTX boots IMHO is that in wet conditions, water gets into the boots from splashing over the top or from rain running down your trouser and doesn't get out as it has to evaporate first which is not really going to happen when your foot is sitting in a puddle. And they take an age to dry out and often smell REALLY badly when they do.
While I have not worn this boot in particular, I have two pairs of Logger 917’s and my dad also owns two pairs of Logger 917’s.
While I do not wear them every day, I have put them through the paces and they’re the best boots I’ve ever worn by a mile. Hence me buying the second pair.
My dad however lives in the mountains of Colorado and wears his every single day. And he agrees, best boot he’s ever worn by far, and they are super durable for him. He’s been wearing the same pair for near two years near everyday and they just look like well worn boots with a lot of life left in the sole, and they’re re-craftable.
Maybe it’s just this model… but I swear by my loggers.
I have loved Danner for a long time. It was my gateway boot before I got into White’s, Wesco, and Redwings. With Truman boots costing $350 to $500 dollars. And Danner boots made in the USA costing about the same. I would prefer to buy JK boots or Truman. They’re just a better boot for what I think I should get for the money.
Grant stones are around the same price as well. I'm looking into getting their field boot in bison leather. Under $400

All hail the CCP 🇨🇳🇨🇳🇨🇳🇨🇳🫡🫡
JK boot construction blows Truman’s Goodyear welted boots out of the water, IMO. Have 2 pairs of JKs. My absolute favorite boots.
@@BOOGiNS I have them. Very good boots. You can’t go wrong.
The editing in this video is particularly impressive. Great job editor! 🙌

Danner Mountain Pass or Mountain Light next, please.
yeah arent those like $400+
Ahh, I’ve been watching your videos from when you had around 30k subs, took a break and now see you have over 700k! Always knew this was a great concept for a channel, happy for your success 🥰
I love your channel, thank you for all the knowledge
Been using Danner Quarry for work boots for 10 years, not a bad work boot, but I think I will be looking at other boots from now on based on your channel. Definitely going to check out a premium PNW boot for my non-work boot.
Quarry boots still have a stitched on midsole and a vibram rubber outsole, so those are still gonna be a good pair to get if you like the last and you like the way they fit
Check out Columbia boots, I've got 2 pair I rotate I drive lumber truck in the PNW started wearing them a year ago and no problems!!
@@Pete-dp3wy K,, I drive a fuel tanker in the PNW so we probably have the same boot requirements. Thanks.
@@sammyb774 Quarries are my current work boot. I've had them for almost a year now. My feet still stay dry even with the leather being soaked. I've treated them with Sno Seal and it helps for a little bit, but does not last very long. For an insulated boot they are not very warm.
Weston, I had a idea with all the shoelaces you cut up! It would be awesome if you saved the laces and made a giant shoelace ball similar to a iconic rubber band ball! It would be interesting to see how large the shoelace ball would grow to be! Food for thought man!
thank you for your work! Now I'm beginning to understand why I buy bad shoes so often. Thanks to you I can differentiate good shoes from bad ones better.
Bought my first pair of Danners in the 90's, while in the Army National Guard. Loved them. They moved to a canvas sided boot, but with the same sole and stitching, loved them. Deployed to Iraq, now a brown boot Army, got a pair of brown ones. Loved them. Wore them thru 3 countries. Problem? Came back stateside, wanted to resole the boots I had worn across the world. I wear a 10.5 wide. Even put a note in the box, these are WIDE boots. Got regular boots back. Called Danner, sorry, we will send you a new pair. they did. But I wanted that pair I wore overseas. Gone. Still love the boots, but will get them resoled by someone I know, some small shop. Don't trust the with resoleing boots.
That’s fucked up, man. If, for some reason, due to them having a new setup that wasn’t conducive to them resoling a boot they don’t make anymore, they should have been straight with you and just sent you back your actual boots. Danner is not impressing me these days.
Good on you for keeping brands honest.
Love your reviews. Would you ever consider reviewing hiking boots? In specific, the Zamberlan 996 is a very popular all leather boot and I'm curious to see your impressions and take a look at what's inside the boot.
Thank you for saving me thousands of dollars by preventing me from buying garbage.
The more I learn about Danner the more I thank the good Lord I bought Thorogood
He hasn't cut apart the good ones yet. I sell every brand but those custom PNW beauties Danner makes some nice stuff.
Thorogoods are super nice for the price man I agree.
I have owned thorogoods for years and you will not regret it. Journeyman pipefitter here
Wow Weston another great video. You should do the Redwing 2233 next.
Yes!!!
I appreciate you and your videos. Now days so many company’s make claims that are false all in the sake of greed.
I bought a pair of Solovair boots because of this channel I enjoy them thoroughly!
Thank YOU!
I wish my boss was cool with me adding whiskey to my morning coffee
I'd be curious to see how their best boot - the Rainforest, I guess? - performs. Like, if we set aside the faux work boots, etc., are any of their boots competitive?
Love the channel (and the Rose Anvil wallet I treated myself to for xmas)!
Was thinking about getting a pair of these, saw that Rose Anvil was gonna be doing a video for Danners. Very glad I waited for the video to come out lol.
Good looking out
Glad you put this video out. Almost bought a pair, but went with a Red Wing Heritage instead.
I ordered my started pack of the morning drop coffee, and I love it. The whiskey smell and the induced flavor are amazing; by far, some of the best coffee I have had. The rich aroma and bold taste of the morning drapp coffee captivated my senses. It has quickly become a delightful part of my daily routine, providing a perfect kickstart to my mornings.
I really would love to see the danner quarry and super rainforest cut in half to see if they are worth the money.
You should do the Danner Quarrys I've had them for like 5 or 6 years now and they're still going strong and I wear them for work.
This is why you’re the best. You tell it to us like it is.
Thank you
I have a pair of Rocky boots from the 1990’s with a Gore-Tex liner; I have resoled them twice and put 1,000s of miles on them over the years. These boots are still holding up well and still DON’T LEAK. I have had dozens of boots over the years and have never experienced holes in the liners; I’ve also worn Gore-Tex outer garments and have never seen those liners get holes either.
Same here. Me and my dad have worn through like 6 pairs of Haix Gore-Tex boots and not one has ever leaked.
Hey thanks for all your awesome videos. Man you keep us updated on what I’d Etsy in the boot and shoe world. Listen , I know this may be a long shot, but I’m wondering if you could find amd compare some of the older Thorogood boots that had the softer outsole before they changed the formulation. Reason I ask is bc I have some that have the older soles and some newer ones with the new sole. Anyway the older is much softer yet wears damn near 2X as fast. The newer soles are much harder and wear wayyyy slower. Basically I’d like to know the shore A difference. I’m about to have to resole the older boots bc I’ve worn the grip completely off and want to know that thorogood is still the way to go with their brand soles or should I look at something else. Thanks a ton!!! Keep the great videos coming and I’ll keep on watching. Love the channel. Later!!!
Would love to see a Danner Super rain forest, or Danner Quarry review
Appreciate the honesty. 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you for being an honest hardworking guy❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love your work brother
Can you do the French brand paraboot. Just bought a pair of the hiking styled boots. Wanted to know your opinion on them. Love the content!
Thank you so much. Saving me $ on the regular. Boots are outrageously priced.
I would love to see the Danner Pronghorn 1200 G on this channel !
Great video would like to see a set of danner quarry cut in half!
Cool review!
awesome content. can you consider doing the born seth chukka boot? I just bought a pair and found out that it is stiched in front, but cemented in the back. Curious to know what else i should know about the boot. I found very little about this boot online.
Another great video!
I pretty much wear roper boots, but getting older, wanted a nice pair of boots for church and going out. I love the look of these danners… now i don’t know what to do.
So I own quite a few boots, and I will tell you the polyurethane soles are more slick resistant than the rubber from vibram on wet cement/tile flooring. So for most of MY applications I prefer this sole over rubber. Didn't know if you knew
I am rocking the logger 917 gtx and they are comfy AF. They dealt with hard ND winter.
i have a 20ish year old pair of Danner "Canadians" and a pair of explorers that are about 15; still in decent shape; I use the explorers for pheasant hunting. my wife has a pair of women's acadia's, they're also about 14-15 years old. I burned through 4 pairs of Uniform Strikers back in the day under hard use, they were their first off-shore i think and were decent for about a year. not sure what's going on there now, but if i need a uniform boot again, it probably won't be from them. edit: hopefully they get their s*** together soon.
Interested in your take on some of the most popular Danner hiking boots like the Danner light or mountain light
I'd love to see what you think about Danner Quarry boots because I just got some for work/hike/hunting. Hope I didn't just blow it lol.
This video was super smooth. The visuals really helped the flow of the video. Top notch
Also on the site they list it under lifestyle boot, lighter duty than their traditional work boots, but yea the price should be about $125 tops and free shipping for this boot.
I’ve been wearing the quarry style boot from Danner since it came out and I’ve loved it, but when I resolve the boots I always go with a softer sole
Why don't you remove the laces before cutting the boot in half?
Weston. I’m just curious now. I have a pair of Danner 917 logger boots. The Huckberry collab ones hut I believe they are all the same. They have not been hard used as we had a ridiculously mild winter but they have seen some snow and rain etc and held up fine, but I would love to see you do a vid on them and see exactly what my $250 bought.
Heck keep that custom wallet going that's actually a great idea 👍👍👍👍
What is Danner up to!?! This is the 2nd Danner disappointment you've had in as many weeks (based on when I viewed the video)! The 1st was an expensive Danner named boot with crap leather & made in china! Now they have a US made boot with poor construction and its worth half what they're selling for (which is less than the $280 MSRP). Danner really have things backwards! Budget line, with budget price should be made in china (if they must...I prefer to make everything here in the US, Canada, U.K, Europe). I appreciate knowing the facts about a product before making the purchase and Rose Anvil makes that possible for boots, so thank you!
I'd like to know how Danner does the factory service resole for these things. Some of the Italian hiking boot companies do a resoleable cemented boot (like Asolo, i think), and when they take it apart they grind off the base of the sole instead of just ripping it off the leather upper. I have some stitchdown Danner hunting boots I'm pretty happy with, but the model is discontinued and if I had to get a new pair of waterproof cold weather boots to replace them with, I might go with something else because of Danner's prices.
Please review the Danner Romeos, I have a couple pair (they were half price so I bought two, one for work and one for dress shoes) and I'd like to see what you think about them
Can you do a review of the thorogood logger boots? Model 804-3555? Thanks for the videos I enjoy them! Hope to hear back!
Have you considered doing a video on LOWA's new combat gtx mk2? I just got a pair and would love to see what you think of them.
PS: I love your videos
Cut open the Danner light/light 2
I was thinking of getting the danner lace to toe work boot
I would definitely like to see comparisons between NFPA 1971 compliant structural firefighter boot brands
Would love to see the brand respond
That would be a game changer. I also would like to see that.
FYI, another widely ignored detail about Gore-Tex. Tex products usually have a second waterproofing treatment, a surface coating called durable water repellent (DWR). This DWR is made of PFAS. Their abundance in the environment, coupled with their persistence, makes PFAS a significant concern for human health and environmental safety. The lack of natural degradation processes for these chemicals means they can remain in the environment and in organisms for an extended period, leading to ongoing exposure and potential health risks.
Mountain light next! Redemption is possible haha
Only danner boots I've ever owned were some winter boots I got issued when I was station un alaska. They were warm and comfortable but i dont think there were meant to be casual lol.
I ha e a pair of Danners I got in rhe late 90s before going to Bosnia. They went through a frozen winter and muddy spring there and still use them today. I wade into shallow streams fishing and no leaks. Things change.
Have you done a test on the Danner Grouse boot? I like mine they just don’t stay waterproof after 3 seasons.
Dang! That danner is weaker then my ebonite bowling shoe the was a glide on sole that came apart while I was trying to bowl a strike😂…it’s a shame the trash some of the former reputable companies are putting out lately🧐. Btw: I received my Truman cattail grizzly recently…they’re everything and more of all the hype they get and totally worth the $399.00
Love the vids and cant wait till you hit 800k subs :D
Do the Danner mountain lights,(want to know if they are good so I can buy them some day) I have the budget mountain 600s for about a year, hold up great, very comfortable probably put a few hundred miles on them thru rocks, dirt, water on poorly maintained hiking trails, still in great shape.
Good review! DAMIT Danner get it together
Do you make a trifold wallet?
Never had any nice shoes growing up. Left for the Marine Corps right after my 18th birthday, saved some money and spent $200 on the nicest pair of footwear I’ve ever had up to that point after boot camp; Danners. They were too heavy to Be practical for an infantryman and fell apart in less than a year. I’m still looking for the ideal “SHTF” durable combat style boot, might pick up your next apocalypse boot when it’s announced.
I have a pair of Danner boots and worked in demolition for years and are one of the only boots that held up they were more than $260 though
I want to know what a "CONTOUR WELT" looks like in models such as the "Wolverine Raider" when cut in half.
Wonder how Iron Age boots would do on here. love my pair
I wish you would do the Keen Cincinnati. I absolutely love the boot and would like to see what you say about it.
Would love to see you do more New Balance Made In!!!
Went to look at the morning dram, all the items I wanted were sold out! Nice work I guess
I had a pair of danner r.a.t. boots from 2009 they were the best boots I was ever issued.
What I'd really like to see is the redwing supersole 2.0. I bought a pair and would like to see how they constructed it. It has a welt style but looks cemented since there aren't any visible stitches, and they're in the 300 range.
Redwing Supersoles are direct-to-welt attach. The outsoles are actually molded to the uppers/welt. Different kind of construction from stitched or cemented.
@@williamjones5885 thanks, I remember now he cut an Ariat in half that was built direct attach.
I got a pair of danner mountain light II very lightly used for a hundred bucks, love em for outdoor stuff but it looks like I'll definitely be avoiding the rest of their stuff.
I’m not saying the boot is worth the price that they’re charging, but I do believe if danner says it’s recraftable that means you can send it to them to be resoled. I believe It’s about $100. There is a version of their mountain 600 hiking boot that is supposedly recraftable and I’ve been trying to figure out what is different about it from the normal one because I like recraftable boots, but I also wanted a hiking boot with some foam in it. I went to an REI and compared the two and they looked pretty much the same from the outside.
Any suggestions on a well-made boot that looks similar to the Douglas GTX?
Great video. Please review viberg 2030 and Truman
Would love to see Roa Hiking, the Andreas Boots that are made from Kudu Leather and are quite expensive or even other Roa models like the Double Neal or the Katharinas !
Please do the Danner Sharptail model next. Lace up or pull on.
Would love if you could get your hands on a pair of danner reckonings
Huge thanks for the review I'm pretty dam sure these are the same as the Danner gtx moto boot. They look awesome but really they are throw away boots
ive had my bull runs for a month, theyre super comfy, no break in,
have you looked into drew's boots before i really wanna see your point of view on them
Could you take a look at a pair of Viberg boots? They look fantastic but the price is eye watering.
