I’ll never understand WHY the Academy plays the music in the middle of the speech and interrupt it when presenters make jokes for 3 minutes straight and no one cares. How disrespectful. The Academy Awards are supposed to celebrate cinema and movies. We want to watch and hear their speeches rather than Tiffany Haddish or Maya Rudolph making funny faces and well constructed jokes. COME ON!

Ryusuke Hamaguchi is so talented. I'm so happy that Drive My Car could also be nominated for Best Picture as a film not in the English language.

Best screenplay should have been given to this film rather than playing it safe with CODA. Every one knows how difficult it is to adapt a story by Murakami.

Cannes made the right choice. "Drive My Car" is an excellent film but "Titane", "Annette", "The French Dispatch" and "A Hero" (current scandal with Farhadi aside) were all honestly superior to it.

As far as i know, she started her own new life as an independent woman in Korea. Ryuuske gives her his car because now is part of her, she knows how to drive it better than him.

For those in the comments who are saying that this movie was boring, what Oscar nominated or winning movie isn’t because honestly the majority of the movies that win or get nominated at the Oscar’s are very boring and un entertaining so it’s nothing new. Then the movies that do deserve to get nominated don’t even get close or get a respectable chance of getting even a consideration. Unfortunately due to the way the Oscar voting system works when it comes to the international film category these unwanted or unworthy movies are going to keep getting nominated.😒Pretty much anyone who knows nothing about film or the film industry on the international level can vote examples: costume designers, set designers, makeup artists etc🤯purely baffling if you ask me.

Because it depends on when the movie came out and whether or not it made the cut to be considered for the award show as there is a cut off and a entry date, also India has to choose the movie as their official movie to represent the country for that year for it to enter the Oscars and if they didn’t then they’re ineligible to enter. I saw the movie and personally I didn’t like it the first 40 minutes were good but the rest of the movie was just boring to me, I don’t understand the hype around it to be honest. Just my opinion though.
