Hey, I’m at ThroggsNeck Houses I’ve been here for 8 years this past winter was the first time with proper heat. I think these “houses” need to be replaced. Every year there’s a leak problem, I also have an ant & roach infestation. The building itself leaks when it rains heavily. There’s always peeling paint. NYCHA has left my floor exposed, underneath the cabinets these floors are rotten. (I’ve had a ticket in for over 1 year). The windows either don’t close correctly or don’t open at all. There’s no ventilation in the bathroom. The closet doors are always having to be fixed. 2 of our radiators have no knobs. The wall behind the stove is peeling. The cabinets aren’t put in place right. The floors aren’t leveled or/& are bumpy. There’s an intercom that’s never worked. There are no swings, slides, or decent playgrounds for the kids especially not for kids with disabilities.
I have seen what this program means when it come to Harlem river projects. Tenants should have the rights to own . We dont need scames to patch and fix problems left by nycha
Property converts and the SINGLE TENANTS are forgotten. I did not get a 1 bedroom as I should have like the other single tenants I know at Blvd Houses. Instead, I get a Studio and that's not even established yet. I am scared I will be pushed out of the area I have been at since 1992. It's a nightmare and I am sick to my stomach, anxiety levels are high and I cannot sleep well either. I have been waiting for a downsize but never expected a 0 bedroom. However, I guess i have no choice to where they send me because they threaten you with losing your section 8 voucher. This is not fair.
GENTRIFICATION.... In next 10-15 years most residents will be displaced. These private companies are looking to place upper middle class in these units. Those effected need to start planning ahead.
