“Porterville” by Creedence Clearwater Revival from the self-titled album Creedence Clearwater Revival.
*About the Creedence Clearwater Revival LP*
Creedence Clearwater Revival’s 1968 self-titled debut album introduced the world to guitar-playing brothers John and Tom Fogerty, drummer Doug Clifford and bassist Stu Cook, four young men out of El Cerrito in the San Francisco Bay Area. Though they emerged in a place and time where trippy, psychedelic visions were the order of the day, CCR bucked the trends and instead tapped into a rich, traditional seam of American music that connected to blues, country, rockabilly, gospel, folk and R&B. Creedence Clearwater Revival features the band’s classic hits “Porterville” and “Suzie Q.,” plus their iconic cover of “I Put a Spell on You.”

During their short time together as a band (1968 - 1972), the band enjoyed an unparalleled period of creativity. They’ve sold over 30 million records in the U.S. alone, releasing 14 Top 10 hits, six Platinum albums (two of which went to number one) and one Gold album. They also managed to play over 150 tour dates around the world, including a headlining spot at Woodstock.
Creedence Clearwater Revival’s canon has become a part of the Great American Songbook. Songs like “Bad Moon Rising,” “Down on the Corner,” “Fortunate Son,” “Have You Ever Seen the Rain,” “Proud Mary,” “Born on the Bayou,” “Travelin’ Band” and “Up Around the Bend” have been ingrained into pop culture - not just as rock staples, but as classic standards.
With so many memorable songs that continue to grace our radio waves and television and movie screens, plus lyrics that still resonate today, Creedence Clearwater Revival is, truly, America’s greatest rock ’n’ roll band.

Do you believe what it says in the description? "Credence Clearwater Revival is, truly, America's greatest rock 'n' Roll band."
Greatness is relative. I think the band had a lot of personal and legal issues that prevented them from being what they could be. This is also entrenched I'm sure within bad contracts, mgmt, record companies, and personal in fighting as to who deserves what and why. Oliver Stone's use alone of Fortunate Son is unparalleled. I would suggest to name a few contemporaries and why they may be greater in relation to CCR
@@PortervilleMusicSociety Tom Petty and the Heartbreaks, Aerosmith, The Eagles, Boston, ZZ Top, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Metallica, and Guns N' Roses are all great America Rock bands in my opinion. Nothing against CCR. I love them. It was just a question.
CCR is fucking real
Never be duplicated. Truly One Of A Kind!!
Mis favoritos waw creedence 👍👍👍
Beautiful Song ❤️

¡¡ Madre de dios, John Fogerty es oro puro. CCR es él y el resto sus acompañantes!! Este tema es soberbio, para mi , al igual que todos los que interpreto en su época de CCR, ya sean los compuestos por John como los que versiono.
Legendary song that started it all, and funny enough named after OUR town! This town is known for many great musicians and music thanks to our Fabulous Studio Band who was one of the first High School Jazz programs in the state, maybe country(?)
This song should be recognized for how swampy boogie those maraca shakers and cowbell set the pace, the only other boogie band that gets this for me is Marc Bolan and his T.Rex Band although less swamp and completely glam.
Interesting. I'm from a nearby Tulare County town & we always said "P" vill. I hadn't heard this song previously & clicked to listen just because I was familiar with your town. Just like for the song Lodi.
@@shaykatz5648 You should look up "porterville slowed creedence" We love the song even more slowed down.

I am probably in a very small minority that thinks this was their best album.
I've said that for years! Just an incredible raw sound. Which they never really duplicated. This album has a sound all to itself.
Born On The Bayou is a bit reminiscent of this one. Two great songs.
