J.S. Bach - Harpsichord Concerto no. 1 in d minor performed by Kyle Rappe feat. The Dolphins Quartet

This video is an excerpt of the live performance from my graduation recital which took place on April 23rd, 2024 at the Juilliard School.
When I began working on Bach's BWV 1052 Harpsichord Concerto no. 1 in D minor, I was faced with the daunting challenge of performing a keyboard concerto on marimba - where instead of having ten fingers at my disposal, I only have four mallets. This resulted in perhaps the most challenging and audacious piece I have ever attempted to perform, and the result is what you see in this video.
Typically when percussionists take on this piece, they opt to split the solo part between two players; however, with me being completely arrogant - and a showboat to boot - I took it upon myself to play this piece without an arrangement, and while removing as few notes as possible while still keeping it playable on the marimba.
