Im here for the Kreg Jig. Its good for Building quick sturdy joints. My husband who is more of a traditional woodworker personally hates it and likes more traditional wood joints. I keep telling him that not everyone has time to make a dovetail. haha. Love watching the build videos every week, It's nice to see your though process.
That’s our thoughts exactly. They’re not always the most attractive so wouldn’t necessarily use them for anything in view, but to quickly knock together a neat, strong joint you can’t beat it! We certainly didn’t have time for dovetails 😂 Thanks for watching ☺️
Thanks a million for the video. We have successfully fitted our shelf today in Ralph the Crafter using your guidance. Bulk head frame in so its heads back hold tight. Martin and Jules x
Great job and thank you. Been following you for all time but keeping a low profile. We are building a sprinter, recently started. Following your videos and your layout (mostly). What I’ve learned so far is…. Looks doable on a 20 min video but in reality there are many traumas and curved balls to overcome in reality. ( and curved walls). Loving your European tour as a threesome. Congrats to you both. Lovely couple. Ps: we are mid 60’s so about to embark on the “one foot in the grave” tour. Hahahaha.
We were a little scared to pull them out but it’s relatively straightforward, at least the way we did it was. And we got lucky with the bolts being rust free and everything in good condition too 😅
@@TheWholeWorldorNothing did you find it difficult to put them back in with the wall fitted? Doesn’t seem to be a lot of room on my sprinter between the plywood wall and where the bench seats are! The battens are already almost touching the back of the seats and not put the plywood in yet.
Good channel guys, the build is looking good, coming along nicely. Like that you show some of the pitfalls. Looking forward to future videos. Well done (thumbs up emoji thingy)
We were actually talking about this a few days ago! We looked at how much it costs to ship the van and stuff. We’re not sure yet but never say never 😉 😀
11:39 Do you know why everyone puts the electrical bits there as opposed to anywhere else in the van? Just curious as i tried to google but didn't succeed
Mainly down to space I think. They could go anywhere in theory, but as we don’t need to access them on a day to day basis it’s more convenient to put them out of the way and keep the prime real estate for stuff we need to be able to get to from the living space 👍
There's also the weight balancing. The two heaviest items are the water tank and the battery bank (it rhymes!), so you want one on each side of the van. You want to two different systems to be accessible, so that makes the garage the best place for that.
Makes sense, thanks both!! With a dining/bed layout, under the benches is prime storage space but I suppose weight distribution and accessibility should take precedence!
Yeah definitely something to bear in mind, especially if you’re going for that setup. Depending on how large your systems are you may still have room leftover for storage under there as well though 😀
Well you can always come back to it when you’re less annoyed! But we feel your pain, we literally couldn’t believe it when we realised the space wasn’t even level 😆 And sometimes saying F it is just necessary, we definitely did that a few times ourselves 😝
Surprisingly we didn’t find any rust in the cab at all! We’ve seen lots of people discover big problems in there but we got really lucky. It does beggar belief that Mercedes don’t rust proof in these areas, especially since they’re so well known.
We found our Kreg Jig one of the most useful tools for our van build but we’ve heard that some people HATE them. Which camp are you in and why?

good comment about securing the batteries.
👍

Always watch until the end bit.
Loving the channel.
Thanks! We really appreciate it and we’re so glad you’re enjoying the channel 😀
Yes I watch the end bit! Great progress. Looking good !
😅 good to know at least one person does! Thank you 😊

Can't wait to see the seat work. That part seems intimidating to me!

Thank you very much. We certainly had plenty of pitfalls, it was way harder than we’d ever imagined! Thanks for watching 😀
Brilliant guys, it’s looking great
Cheers, thank you 😊
amazing work as always, i love your videos. greetings from Argentina
Thank you 😊 Ah we miss Argentina so much!
Will you one day return to Latin America to tour it with your van?
We were actually talking about this a few days ago! We looked at how much it costs to ship the van and stuff. We’re not sure yet but never say never 😉 😀
Interesting floor plan. Can’t wait to see what you do with the bog. I think I missed the flooring install. I’ll go find it. Cheers from Canader eh!
Yes the flooring vid is a few back 😉 I didn’t know you called it the bog in Canada too! 😂
@@TheWholeWorldorNothing were so multicultural here we have so many names for everything.
😂 good to hear it, you’ll have to share some more with us!
Really great videos, guys. 👍
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it ☺️
Awesome vid where’s the jig from?
Thanks 😊 There should be a link to the jig down below in the description, but it’s a Kreg pocket hole jig that we use 👍
Great video and really helpful, just wondering how thick your plywood was for the bulkhead?
Glad you found it useful. The ply we used for the shelf was 12mm thick 👍
Would it not have been possible to cut a window in the original steel bulkhead ?

I've gotten so annoyed with making my wall I've decided to do a half wall and make a curtain for the rest 😂 I was so angry I said F it.

Which batteries did you get?
You'll probably find s**tloads of rust around the bolt holes 4 the seats Mercedes don't know what galvanised metal is or rust treatment.
