They are just oem Honda plastics for the 99-04 400ex’s and the headlight assembly has been cutoff and replaced with a carbon fiber hood from fourwerx. You can get them through any dealership or websites like Rocky Mountain ATV, Motorsport, partzilla, etc…
I bought it directly from fourwerx. I think that’s about the only place you can buy it. www.fwcarbon.com/collections/fwc-trx300x/products/99-05-trx400ex-xs-carbon-fiber-hood
It’s actually not a 450 hood, it’s a fourwerx carbon fiber hood made specifically for the 99-04 400ex’s. All I had to do was trim off the headlight assembly up by the handle bars and then drill a couple holes in the plastics for the mounting push pins. It’s really pretty easy. Just take your time and it’ll look really good.
Yes I got ride of my neutral light and my key just sat down in the bracket on the front of the steering stem clamp. Then later on I ended up getting a houser stem clamp and their key bracket. That’s what I’m using now.
I just ordered mine from my local shop. They are just OEM plastics. However you get them on any oem sight like partzilla, Rocky Mountain ATV, or motosport. Here is the link to partzilla though: www.partzilla.com/catalog/honda/atv/2000/trx400ex-a-fourtrax-400ex
wouldn't the headlight plastics get in the way of the hood? i really like the hood and have a 02 400ex and was wondering how the hood goes on before i spend money ordering it
Yes it does, that’s why you just chop it off and get rid of it. I don’t use my headlights with racing xc so it didn’t matter to me. I just started by slowly taking off more and more until it got down right about flush with the gas tank plastics and the fit nice and flush. It’s one of those things that you just take your time and continue to do some test fitting while your removing plastic material. Then, once it fits how you like it, you attach the hood and call it good.

No problem man, so the basics of it are wiseco 88mm, 11:1 high compression piston, so 426cc, stage 2 hot cam, crf450 timing chain, lightened flywheel, barnett clutch system, full hmf exhaust and a 450r carb to feed it fuel and air. Nothing crazy motor wise, there is no head work or anything like that on it and all the other internals like the crank is still oem. One of the best engine mods you can do that is highly underrated is the lightened flywheel. That makes a very large difference in waking the 400’s up.

Look up southern kentucky motor sports (SKM). Get in contact with them and they can hook you up. It’s an old PRM summit front bumper. Long story short, PRM went out of business and now SKM bought all of they’re stuff and is making the bumpers again.
The air shrouds that are on it in this video I’m honestly not sure, they were on when I bought the quad. However, I have since put a set of CFM air shrouds on it, I have a video on that on my channel if you want to check it out.
I have the air scoops on the sides to bring more air towards the engine but the major thing is I bought a small 4” SPAL fan and mounted it on the oil cooler and it dropped the oil temperature about 40 degrees.
You should have put a light on it.
I don’t ever ride at night and I really like how the carbon fiber hood looks
