Thanking God this young man is out of prison a place he did not belong. So happy for his mom being such a brave woman not settling for NO

I’m a doctor in the US - my past experience in Maryland is that seizure patients are allowed to drive if they have not had seizures in 3 months. Many are well-controlled with meds. That said, the rule has always made me uncomfortable because they can’t predict when they’ll have one so all of us on the road are at risk. I have a family friend who flouted the rule 2 wks after her seizure because she said she was a single mom and had to work. God help us all and keep us safe.

Matthew should not be driving full stop. It makes me angry that he was put in that position in the first place and also putting the lives of other people at risk

This segment shows how police need to be trained and apply it when communicating with those who have disabilities.

Based on the information provided a prior accident And a potential inability to communicate, it would seem to me that as tragic as this is he should not have been driving to begin with.

Also they didn’t disclose this but the person he hit is now permanently in a vegetative state and permanently disabled he should have not been driving a car. I’m happy he is back home with his family but at the same time the people in his life have to take accountability for allowing this to happen to him and this event to take place in general. This young man wasn’t mentally aware of what he was doing but the people in his life that allowed him to get a car but also get behind the wheel of a car have to be held accountable and responsible for this incident.

But what about the innocent injured people? Second accident? Should he have been driving? Are we going to put him behind the wheel again?

Should he have been driving. This is sad, but if it were my family member that was hurt, I would want justice. And if his disability hinders him from being punished, then should he be driving!

I'm happy he was released from prison but to my knowledge, if someone has a history of seizures, they should not be driving. I guess he was given a license since he was driving...so that's interesting. My prayers for the people he hit, that was a very ugly scene 🙏🏾

Exactly! If not mistaking, did they say he was in a prior car accident and in a coma?! Not sure if I heard that right...

As someone with a history of seizures and migraines, I decided not to drive even before my neurological test and the recommendation against driving that my parents had me take. It is quite an inconvenience, to say the least; however, I felt that that was the best decision for me and the rest of society. I don't regret the decision.

I notice Tamron only interviews the mothers of black youngsters, and the husbands of these women, who are the fathers of these youngsters are always omitted and suspiciously absent. Do better Tamron. Please. Optics matter.

Autistic people don't react the way you or I would. He probably drove off because of sheer panic. He shouldn't have been driving but he did not intend to harm anyone. Prison isn't the right place for him but he absolutely should be monitored for the rest of his life.
