LOL, I thought it was going to turn out to be the battery monitor. I just had an issue with my wife's 2012 explorer where the A/C would quit working intermittently and I couldn't figure out why. it was never broke when I hooked the scantool to it. it finally broke while I was in it so I left it running and hooked the scantool to it and found that the pressure switch was not reading correctly. Common problem so I replaced it, still broke. I went to alldata and pulled the wiring diagram and it showed a 5v reference wire on it so i pulled up that pid and it was fluctuating from 2-5 volts. turns out the Battery current sensor on the same 5v ref wire was going bad and taking out the 5v reference after running for a while and heating up. Btw, enjoying the content, keep up the great work. I have actually been to that shop before, but that was may years ago when another Gentleman owned it. I just live about a mile from there down Red Bluff.
@@dude8165 That's what I thought, it must have been a coincidence that the 5v returned when I unplugged it. There are only 2 sensors on that 5v circuit and I have replaced both of them. it worked for a day after replacing it, but the problem soon returned. The only thing I can think of is it is either a wire shorting to ground in the harness or possibly the computer failing. it only does it after it has been on for a while. I followed the wiring and moved it around all the way up to the firewall and there was no change. the harness does touch the back of the engine and it feels like it sits on a sharp corner but the harness didn't feel like it was damaged and there was no change when I tried to get it to fail at that spot. (I cant see it, but I can feel it) but it has been working since I moved it around so I plan on getting a mirror and trying to inspect it closer.

You just switched the wiper motors and that fixed the issue? You also wrote that the only difference between the AJ and BJ wiper motors is the mounting brackets? So how does switching them not make the wipers work? Sorry, I got confused there.
Legit IV fixed a couple of these with similar issues. Last one was a fiesta. Customer took it to his regular shop. They charge him 65 bucks to transfer codes from scan tool to receipt. So he stopped wanted appointment. I made it for 10 days out. He was like any sooner. I'm like fuck it I'll give ya 15 minutes. I seen they were b codes. Remembering a does focus I worked on that the plug in passenger footwell ( I think BCM) come unplugged. Got something to kneel on and boom there it was. Lock lever on connecter was undone. I snap it over and ding ding chime went. When he asked how much do I owe I shoulda told him double what the other guy charged you. He got out for 20 bucks
The LIN line module was not working on the driver side. So when I moved it to the passenger side the LIN line was not used. And when I moved the passenger to the driver side it restored LIN communication to the wiper motor. Does that make sense ?
I’ve dealt with bad motors on these before. I checked the communication to the module with a scope. Then I checked the amp draw with the scope and you could see for a tiny moment when plugging the motor it the would spike at over 60 amps. Both motors did this and both were bad. My guess is that they tried to use them to clear ice off of the windshield and burnt them both out.
wow. thats wierd. sad thing is the scan tool didnt say they were permanent codes. plus there is no way to test activate the motors without the lin working. old days just toss a jumper wire on it! not no mo

I’m confused. So if they were not side specific what was the issue?
The LIN line module was not working on the driver side. So when I moved it to the passenger side the LIN line was not used. And when I moved the passenger to the driver side it restored LIN communication to the wiper motor. Does that make sense ?
