I said it before, I’ll say it again. Don’t sell the truck. The savings is minuscule for no insurance. Sitting for 3-6 months won’t hurt anything. If you have someone taking care of animals they can run the truck every few days also. If you need the money ok, if not, keep the truck. It is a necessity for a homestead. You also know the mechanical condition of the truck. You won’t have the same knowledge of a new used truck. Keep the truck.
One option is to put the vehicle on a "storage" insurance policy. Very inexpensive - maybe $20-$30 per month. Means the vehicle is still covered, but isn't being driven. I have the same thought. Keep the truck for a while, then decide.
I agree with not selling the truck, vehicles are overpriced. You know what you have with that truck, buying used is risky. Hopefully you will reconsider.
A truck is just a truck, you can replace it when you get home. I am under the belief that everything works out in the way that it should, especially if you stay positive and don't worry too much about it. I wasn't always this way but I get more like it every day and proud to be more that way.
I appreciate your transparency and authenticity. I like how you address the financial, emotional and practical aspects of making a decision. You and your husband are very wise. Just my two cents...maybe keep the truck for the first few months of your travels and then decide. What if you decide to come back early? It is such a nice truck and you'll need a truck during the development of your property.
Thanks for sharing this video. I love the questions you ask yourself in the decision making process, especially "if you currently didn't have the item would you spend money on purchasing it at this time?" That is so helpful! Wishing you the best on your journey!
I agree with a lot of the comments on keeping the truck. Have it go to family who are keeping some of your stuff already. They can periodically start it, etc. Financially, in the long run, it would be better than buying something when you return. IMO However it's your life and decision and I respect and support that.
I see both sides to keeping or selling the truck . You guys have made your decision, and i respect that. I'm guessing this trip might turn in to a move . Are you selling or keeping the camper? That will be the thing that deteriorates fast left unattened . Regardless of if this it just a trip or a permanent move, I look forward to seeing how this all works out . Enjoy!!
Selling my kids books… a library I have built up for years… the books I read 5 million times & we had silly sayings for - emotional! So hard! My kids favorite books, the things I’ve been collecting to read… hard! Homemade Christmas ornaments - hard! Kids art - gut wrenching. Their home carved height board - yikes!
I also feel it’s bad to never settle down. It can Be hard on your children to never have a routine or a normal home. Like I’ve said all of your “chasing dreams ” is costing uou financially.
I believe the truck should be sold, recycled if you will, so it can be used by someone who can use it in real time. Vehicles that sit deteriorate. If you were to be gone 1 or 2 months that would be one thing, but months and months that is another.
Can you loan the truck to family or friends to use? Or let a construction shop rent it to customers ? So that takes care of the auto insurance? Once you know you have a reliable, stable vehicle, it's hard to let go, especially if it's the one car you have and are certain that you may be returning back to US. As a family only you can make the decision that works for you.
I have watched your channel for years. I understand a lot of what you say but I had a question. Do you plan on building a homestead on your land? If you still plan on living off grid when you return I feel like a truck is a necessary tool in that situation.🤷♀️
We can always buy another truck when we get back. Technically, a more expensive truck if we invest the money and save all the money we would have spent just maintaining it while we are away 😅
Most definitely. A homestead needs a truck. This one is paid for. No rational reason to sell the truck if they only plan to be out of country for a few months, even a year. It’s about the money.
Much easier to sell the truck now than when you decide not to come back! Question? Do you think as someone that is autistic that you have grown out of certain traits? My autistic daughter (33) is basically a hoarder and very adverse to any change. I know that there is a wide range on the spectrum but I have read that these are common.
I think it kinda depends on why she is hoarding the stuff. It could be too overwhelming to decide what items to keep and what to get rid of (executive disfunction). Or her stuff may make her feel safe and secure. I will say, we may not be hoarders, but we are to the other extreme - we will just get rid of everything 😅 I have never been a hoarder, but I did like collecting stuff when I was younger. Especially as a kid I had all kinds of collections. And it has always been very exhausting for me to decide what to keep and what to get rid of - which is why I lean into getting rid of it all 🙃
We aren't getting rid of every single thing, just a lot of our stuff. Stuff we really don't need or can be easily replaced when we return. We are taking our most important items to family out of state, so it's easier to not move a bunch of stuff. We still have our camper on our property so we are keeping some of our necessities there - like kitchenware and tools - stuff that doesn't need to be kept in a climate-controlled environment. Life is also just easier with less stuff 😊
You could also leave the truck with family. I think this is more about the money than anything else. Way more advantages to keeping truck. Bottom line is the money.
You want to sell the truck I get it. Your ‘expenses’ for the truck sitting for 3,6 or 12 months are exaggerated IMO. Hopefully everything works out well for you on your trip. Hopefully you don’t regret selling the truck. Have fun.
@bwillsboys You're much braver than I am. I'm one of THOSE moms & I'm fully aware I shouldn't be... but I am. I can't even move the next state over without hyperventilating about being that far away from my kids. I'm not saying this in any kind of disrespectful way to you, I hope you don't take it that way. I love your channel & I think both of you are amazing parents!!!❤️
I am nervous and it's going to be hard! But I also know she will be okay and is capable. And it helps a lot that we have family and friends close to her in case she needs anything.
We are not going to sell the camper. It has already reached about max depreciation and we are storing some of our belongs in it while we are traveling. And I am not sure it would make it off our mountain safely if you want me to be honest 😅
I wish you were staying around and moving forward with your new home build and land. I feel like you’re running from something. I worry for your animals. All of them. It doesn’t seem fair for them.

I love this pick the comment apart slowly. Lol 😆

Completely agree 💯
I'm just shaking my head I have a bad feeling all the way around about this decision.

Once you get back it will cost more on insurance from having no insurance for awhile on a vehicle.

Thank you ❤
Every handbag I ever owned doesn't total $200 lol 😊
Me either! I've had the same $20 bag for like 10 years 😅
I love hearing your chats :)

I do hope you finally find something that makes you happy, I believe slow and steady wins the race.
Hello Katie 🌻
We’re so excited for you ! 💖
I believe the truck should be sold, recycled if you will, so it can be used by someone who can use it in real time. Vehicles that sit deteriorate. If you were to be gone 1 or 2 months that would be one thing, but months and months that is another.
Wait, you aren’t bringing your toddler with you to travel? I’d be so curious to know more about that!!
Our 2 year old is coming with us 😊
💜💜💜
If love your truck, Why would you sell it? You are planning on coming back- you guys got a deal on this. You can pay up the insurance for 6-12 months

@@user-mm6xi3er5u I would be interested in your breakdown of how keeping the truck is the better financial decision.

@raisingwildflowers thank you for the thoughtful response. She definitely has executive dysfunction.
How come your selling everything if your coming back in a few months? Just curious ❤

I’m sure you have some contents that have sentimental value you should store in sturdy totes with family or friends.

Keep the truck, better the devil you know for when you return than have to start again
Have a good trip
I want to know how you are planning to sell your truck. I want to sell my car. Not sure where to start?
Are you afraid or nervous to leave your daughter behind or is she going with you?
One daughter will be staying with family and the other daughter lives on her own.. that’s what she said in a video

Will you be selling your travel trailer. The economy is going to tank so it is best to sell what you don't need right now.
We are not going to sell the camper. It has already reached about max depreciation and we are storing some of our belongs in it while we are traveling. And I am not sure it would make it off our mountain safely if you want me to be honest 😅
Hello fella Virginian👋
Hi! ☃️
I wish you were staying around and moving forward with your new home build and land.
I feel like you’re running from something.
I worry for your animals. All of them. It doesn’t seem fair for them.
Have you sold the truck?
Not yet
@@raisingwildflowersI’d wait to sell the truck
