My wife and I are visiting London shortly so we are now planning our itinerary. Not being from London, all the various forms of transport are a wee bit confusing. I see there is a price cap of £5.25 for all bus journeys, which will be fine for most days ... it also gives us an excellent opportunity to see a few of the famous sights. We are staying at the Premier Inn near Goodge Street, so using the bus will be OK. However, we intend going on the cable car, but see getting to either end would be quite a long and time consuming journey, so I assumed the Tube would be the best option. I now see there is also the DLR on the north side, but how is this priced. The tube works on different zones, so if we went one way by Tube and returned on DLR, would we end up paying twice. Any advice would be appreciated.
If you are visiting from the south east for a day by rail an all zone(technically zones 1 to 6) is a great option . It's about £7 extra and covers bus, rail, and underground within those 6 zones. It doesn't cover the cable car or riverboats
I think you caught the wrong bus to go to Crofton Park mate. You must've taken the 284 instead of the 122 if you found yourself outside Catford station. Still a bit of an arsehole driver for not letting you out beforehand though.

Buy an Oyster card for £7, load it up, and touch in and out on every journey! (Except buses and trams where you only touch in)
