I called my limestone quarry and they said for a load of 3/4 crusher run, it would be $700.00. I was paying $400.00 a few years back.

  • @sassafrasvalley1939

Boss man, is that a limestone mix? It isn’t as white as ours… even when wet.
We have a dozen limestone quarries within 30 miles of my place. They ship all over the place, by the train load. The state highway department prefers it for concrete because there is no flint in it. You almost never see a dump truck without spreader chains!
The quarry in my town was used for sheet, slab and block construction. Our state capital was built from it. No seams, pure white and polishes nearly as smooth as granite.
There are hundreds of miles of tunnels. They are used for cold storage, dry storage, Tennis courts, manufacturing businesses and federal munitions stockpiles. Getting through the gates is like breaching Fort Knox!
Seeing limestone cliffs a hundred feet high is common if you float the creeks. When I was growing up, I thought most cliffs had monolithic limestone faces because you had very few seams.
It wasn’t until I was a teen that we traveled far enough away to know that limestone curbs, sidewalks and buildings were rare! The old part of every town has them.
I thought that your area was mostly granite. Do you have an abundance of limestone?

Mike, I'm curious how you made out asking that driver to gate spread that load..The one time I asked one of RJ's guys to gate spread a load you would have thought I asked him to give up his first born child! It was a similar situation as yours and you would think it's no big deal for a decent driver.
