6:59 is brilliant such an underrated part of this movie. I’m always so satisfied when I watch that part when Scottie puts the pieces together. The camera shots, music and direction of that scene just demonstrates the genius of Hitchcock.

Oh now Johnny really, come on!” Scottie: “Well I’m not telling you what I think; I’m telling you what he thinks!” Midge: “What do you think?” Scottie: “Well” Midge: “Is she pretty?” Scottie: “Carlotta?” Midge: “No, not Carlotta, Elster’s wife.” Scottie: “Well, yes, I guess you’d consider that she would be called…” Midge: “I think I’ll go take a look at that portrait. Goodbye!”
