Herve I have no idea why you don't have over a million subs. The amount of work you put into these is astounding. As an 80's film fanatic, this is some of the best stuff I've seen.
Absolutely Incredible work! Hitchcock would be proud. Getting into the actual hotel room.. A+. I was in town a couple of years ago and visited a couple spots from the film.... Classic.
Excellent work. Love it. One of the great American films. I saw Vertigo first as a kid but didn't really appreciate it at that time, I've seen it a further three times since through more mature eyes & my love for it has grown greater with each viewing to the point it's become one of my favourite of Hitchcock's.
Incredible. You left out the unnecessary narration of a typical filming location video and left the dialogue plus made the shots line up perfectly. Excellent work and masterfully done. Thank you for this wonderful presentation.
Wonderful! Thank you! I went on a “Vertigo tour” about ten years ago. I’m sorry to see they built a wall in front of Scottie’s apartment but I guess I understand.
I wouldn't be too sure about that, for instance, the church at Eddie and Gough was burned down in 1995, two years after the daughter of a distant relative of mine was married there, the high risers weren't there back in the 1950s, the mansion nearby the burned down church has since become a practice field for Sacred Hearts High School, and quite a few other buildings have been retrofitted or remodeled, if not demolished and rebuilt as new structures altogether, let alone the street are more strictly regulated than it was.
@@copperdog I agree with your point. I have never been to SF, but considering more than 60 years have passed since Vertigo was filmed, it is remarkable how much still remains.
@@NoName-gz2kk For at least a few years now.I have been hearing about out-of-control homeless people in SF living in filthy conditions. I heard that it became so filthy and diseased, it is just like a third world country.
It's almost unreal how things haven't changed that much since then...Like going back in time and being on the set of the movie... This was beautiful to watch, great job and many thanks!
What a movie! What a job! I watched Vertigo for the first time not too long ago and I went crazy for it. I am so jealous that you were able to visit all these places. Once again: fantastic work and thank you!
An outstanding video. I went to SanFran in 2002 to visit these locations. Didn't get to see all but saw the main ones. You've brought back the memory to me and for this I thank you. Vertigo is my number 1 favourite and I never fail to find extra Easter eggs in it.
Travail admirable de recherche et de montage . Merci pour votre œuvre . Bravo et merci pour ce que vous faite pour le cinéma ...parole de projectionniste !
What I like about this particular video is all the little minor details that have changed over the course of time, between 1958 and today, even though San Francisco is still very recognizable. It's amazing how the trees have grown in certain scenes and yet so many buildings have disappeared, while others were constructed. I mean, even Alfred Hitchcock, himself, or James Stewart, would probably be mesmerized to see this, with all the exact filming locations spots. What! an utterly fantastic time traveling. Thank you! Johnny Montreal Canada.
When I lived there in NorCal I also visited quite a few of these places from the film. But this mate…..is next level. Great work! I enjoyed how you weaved the plot of the story into the “then vs now” views.
This is really something. I've watched many of your works like this and they're all really works of both art and tribute. In this case, "Vertigo," it really elicits feelings of nostalgia and melancholy due, in no small part, by the genius of Bernard Herrmann. His scoring grabs your heart and doesn't let go. But then there's the recognition that it and they are mostly all gone forever. We'll never see movies like this again.
Herve this brings great JOY in my heart one of my favorite films Iv grew up in Salinas just 15 minutes south of the mission and have fond memories of my childhood even the "Bird" rock on the 101 that you took the drone over man so cool for me, they show the film on the west lawn of San Juan mission every September and do private Vertigo Tours for a small fee. I sit at that place all day sometimes it is a very special place they still hold church Service inside the cathedral as well. Thanks Herve such excellent job man!!!
@@artisan2287 where you at brother come down to the lawn this September and watch it with us............and you are probably somwhere I cannot go and want to lol Hope all is well
This is (mostly) incredible... the way you match the film with your near-perfect angles of the current footage. The only thing that confused me was the CGI rendered scenes. I didn't get it. But yes, EXCELLENT editing with the old and new footage combined. Your angles and perspectives with the filming... it's very impressive. If I made films, I'd like to make something like this.
What a pleasure to find new material from Herve Attia after such a long absence. You are a master at capturing these filming locations of classic films. I am very impressed by your work and your attention to detail.
Incredible job! Thanks for all your hard work, it definitely shows. So fun to see the changes (and remarkable little changes) in San Francisco from 1958 to 2020. This totally lives up to the excellence of the original Hitchcock movie, congratulations!
Ciao Herve, welcome back, I hoped that yours was not a goodbye and seeing your return is a pleasure; your videos are simply amazing and emotional. Seeing the epic scenes from the movies is gorgeous and melancholic at the same time. Seeing how time passes and everything remains the same or changes has a bitter sweet taste. You are very good at what you do, someone should propose you to make a program on TV. Keep it up and thanks for your videos.
I like the way you make those great location videos.Very unique and special!Hope to see a new one very soon.Greetings from cologne, germany, your new fan.stefan

Thank you for all of your hard work on this! I loved it! I am planning a trip to San Francisco, and I plan to visit some of these sights! Thanks again.
This is beautifully put together. San Francisco looks fabulous both in Vertigo and in your footage, so much so that I sometimes have to check which image is from the film.
toujours aussi impressionnant de voir à quel point en 60 ans certains lieux n'ont pas changé, alors que pour d'autres la végétation a vraiment pris beaucoup plus d'importance
Every Herve Attia video comes as a surprise and a treat, and feels like a passion project. They are also kind of haunting in their own way. These location changes seem fewer and more subtle than perhaps any of the other filming locations. The only change here that gets my personal stamp of approval is painting the Bus Only lane red!
So, the ones that seem to work best, like this one, are films wherein the director and location scout chose actual, identifiable places to shoot - and the locations mostly still exist. Toward that end, I'd like to add my own request, as others have done: "Chinatown." OK, so it's my favorite movie, but many many of those buildings and homes are still around today. I've seen a few but not all. How about it?! Thanks for the great entertainment that true film fanatics like me can appreciate and savour
I can't begin to understand the time and effort you put in to these but they truly are a work of art in themselves. Thank you.
I agree. These are truly beautiful

You are getting even better. Older movies are the best to compare because the changes in time are bigger and they have also a more mythic quality.
Brilliant, absolutely brilliant job in putting this together.
