"109 vs Spitfire" Compilation (How to Kill Spitfires)

- A lot of people seem to have trouble fighting Spitfires in RB. The 109 however, is surprisingly effective at countering Spitfires in aggressive energy-fighting maneuvers.
To make it simple:
1. Make sure there is a SIGNIFICANT difference in energy at the beginning of the engagement. (Either you or the enemy has over 1km alt or 100kmh speed advantage, we will discuss countering the latter case.)
2. Utilize Takeoff and Landing flaps (flap controls can be altered in menu) to maximize turning ability. Instead of a flat horizontal fight, utilize high/low yo-yos, where the 109 excels.
3. If the Spitfire is above/behind and diving, use both rudder and ailerons to out-roll and force an overshoot. (All aircraft in-game can roll significantly faster in this fashion.) Reduce throttle if necessary (usually is). Make sure you are always at an extreme angle from his POV, flying sideways to him or upside-down to deny him a clear shot.
4. Once an overshoot is imminent, maximize throttle and flaps to capitalize on the split-second opening.
5. IF the Spitfire enters a tight turn (vertically or horizontally) that you cannot follow, dive to disengage, make another energy gap, and try again.
This tactic can be applied to ALL energy fighters which can out-energy but not outturn the Spitfire.

Superb maneuvers mate.. your trigger discipline could use some help though. But by this time I assume that you overcame that problem already.. Definitely your one of the best BF-109 pilot that I ever seen. CHeers!

those spit pilots didnt seem too smart about their dogfighting... they deccelerate faster than 109s, and should scissor them
Loved the use of Romulus 3 in this video. Some classic Need For Speed music for a good vid.
From what I can see, a lot of the Spitfire pilots in the video were engaging in a dumb manner, such as horizontally turnfighting at high altitude, starting a fight without an energy advantage, not escaping the engagement when they had the chance as soon as things went unfavorably for them, not having the awareness to notice the 109 diving on them, etc.

Hey TakaLeon can you offer us the file of the controls that you use?
My controls aren't that different from War Thunder's default settings. I just use X for pitch up and 2 for pitch down, and temporarily hold down C to look at the enemy plane. Also R for flaps up and F for flaps down. After pointing at the enemy you let go of C and control your plane with the keyboard while continuing to track the enemy with your mouse.

I dont think u can do this anymore now bcos 109s' flaps, it took years to deploy or retract them, it really pissed off me tbh, bcos i myself play german for most of my time.

Tighter turn mainly. Also you slow down much faster than the enemy expects, making them slide in front of you
Why not use conbat flaps?
Landing flaps turn tighter, lower your stall speed and are much better against maneuverable enemies.
this applies to any 109 ?
im using the k4 and spits just oblerate me
vipper 998 silly question but have you considered what altitude you are fighting them at? Spitfires tend to outrun and outturn 109's at lower altitudes so try and engage them at 2500 or 2700, from what i can tell my method of doing this has worked and im going up against mk vb spits
Essentially what I`ve discovered as well i.e fight early spits at higher altitudes.
Imagine the poor pilot cranking on that flaps wheel everytime you put them to landing position

What if they go vertical and it's a stupid griffon that gains speed faster than me?
You can't really do anything because the griffons have fake flight models and most griffons are post war while you're at most a 1944 plane
Too bad the bearcats flaps dont drop that fast, but at least i can just stall fight it

The Gaming Fascist in the later tiers yeah but early tiers it's remarkable, I pretty much only fly Germany because I like ju stukas
pilots that say 109 was bad might got their experience from playing the G series or K and expecting those series as nimble as earlier 109s or they might used to fly other turnfighters from other countries and turn become german pilots. Thus, they will have a very tough time playing german planes.
mostly lucky shots, you hold the landing flaps to much you should modulate between combat take off and landing, not holding continous landing flaps, a good spitfire pilot would give you a little room to exhaust your energy then your toast
Very bad spitfire pilots, if i were flying any of those machines i would take you down like 10 times lol... they make terrible mistakes, wrong side turns, they energy trap themselves lol...

Hacker. I tried the same shit in the same bf109 and I got turbo fucked.
Finaly was Spit mk.22 and 24 BR raised., now they can´t fly against poor G10.
