Besides what Steve Miller, said it's a tourist trap, you could have the same or better experience at a Hard Rock Cafe and have a halfway decent meal and/or beer at that.
It's just an organization founded by a hidden group of people as a museum to honor the artists they like. They probably despise the rappers they put in, but do it because it's good PR.
Kiss is a top 10 all time iconic rock band. They have the most gold records of any american band. They have sold 100m + albums, they have been around since the 70's, their big stage show was original, revolutionary and has been copied by tons of bands , on and on. Without kiss, the RnRHoF is not a valid entity
PISS is a stupid rock band whose stage act (most likely) ripped off Parilment-Funkadelic's stage act, and is just the kind of thing Hanna-Barbera would come up with if both men wanted to devise a rock band (it's no coicendence that Hanna-Barbera made _KISS Meets The Phantom Of The Park_ and that it was set in an amusement park; the band looks like the house band that would play at one [e.g. Calyx, the house band at Disneyland.]) Why should anybody care that the RRHOP didn't care about PISS?

@@UgoFallavena, PISS is garbage, and I'm glad that they've broken up and have finally retired. The band was nothing more than a rip off of Parliament/Funkadelic anyway (same kind of weird costumes, only with hard rock and not funk.) Also, frak you: I _don't_ have to like PISS if I don't want to.

@@danwillis1389 So happy to say I saw KISS in 1976 in my hometown Tucson , Az. I was 15 yrs.old. Ace was always my favorite band member. Love his base playing.Plus alot more. I wasn't interested anymore after they replaced Peter & Ace. I still enjoy Ace's music & his interviews. I still love Ace Frehley ❤️
Valid point! If the band Kiss is the one being inducted, if former members are in good standing with the original members and members of the final iteration of the band. And they contributed to the bands success and longevity, and the founding members want them included in the recognition. They should be included in the ceremony and the literal induction.
The Hall of Fame is a joke. There are dozens of bands that deserve to be "members' but will probably never get inducted because the members don't like them or some other reason.
It has nothing to do with traditional Dem/Rep. politics so let's get that straight. But I totally agree that this HOF is a complete joke. Jethro Tull isn't in, but the Beastie Boys are????? What does a band have to do? Have someone about to die? Rap artists and pop artists should have their own HOF. Let the Rock n Roll HOF be about ROCK bands and singers.
Now, that I agree with. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is a joke. Now, I see both sides. I understand why the Rock Hall would want the original four members. However, I think in all fairness, the other guys who have been a part of Kiss should get some credit. After all the group is being inducted and they all had a part. Just my humble opinion.
Yup. An now they are going to be inducting taylor swift and justin biever. Just you watch. They are fucking sell outs. They are what rock was and is against.
Paul's thought process is a little convoluted here. He needs to acknowledge Ace and Peter as the founding members weather he like's it or not, give credit where credit is due.
Get over yourself Paul. It wasn't just about you and Gene. Acknowledge Peter and Ace's contributions or at least let the Hall do so.. I understand that others have come and gone/stayed and need acknowledgement, too, but the original 4 are who the R and R Hall of Fame wanted. It's their show. Their rules. If you don't like it, they'll move on to another deserving band. Way too much drama surround Paul S. A lot he creates himself.
They WERE ACKNOWLEDGED. Paul was trying to get recognition for the others that deserved it. I didn’t start out a fan of the original KISS. I wasn’t old enough. I found KISS through Asylum and worked my way back to the earlier music. If Asylum didn’t hook me, I may not have ever known about the earlier music. YOU need to acknowledge what the later members contributed.
I understand Paul's point. There were members through the years that also deserve recognition. Even though I don't agree with the tactics of recent. The fact remains that over the career of KISS. Other members outside the original 4 helped make their mark at that time which should be recognized.
I applaud any individual who stands up for all the members who’ve stood the test of time. 🙇🏻♀️🔎👏🏽. Freedom of speech is still allowed in our Beloved Country. I enjoyed their music and so have many others...stop the trolling people. Thanks for posting this as not many understand the politics of the RIR Hall of Fame process. 🙇🏻♀️🔎👍🏽🇺🇸😉
I'm glad that paul here is, in a way, standing up for the fans of the Vinnine Vincent, Eric Carr, Bruce Kulic, Mark St. Johns because those albums and era of kiss is what got me in the band. Those musicians know we love them for their contributions to kiss. And yes, all the members of the band throughout it's history should have been their as paul so eloquently puts it. Yes, even Eric Singer and Fake Freehly.
tommy is the only member that really impersonates, eric came around in the 90s and played on revenge, alive 3, and carnival of souls. sure he has peter's make up but he has a different style.
I understand both sides,Paul's and The Hall Of Fame's.To The Hall, the original KISS is who and what made THE MOST IMPACT,but to Paul,KISS is MORE than just that and soldiered on for decades and NOBODY is gonna tell him how HIS band should be viewed.I get both sides, but I am just glad KISS is finally getting SOME recognition for their accomplishments.
Technically, the Alice Cooper Band ended with Muscle Of Love (1973), and Welcome To My Nightmare (1975) was the first Alice Cooper (the dude) solo album. But it remains a valid point, there have been piles of "members" in and out of numerous longstanding "bands": Asia = 20, Kansas = 19, Sabbath = 20+, Head East = 15, Judas Priest = 13, Rainbow = 127....
Well, at least Kiss got in to the hall of fame. They deserved it. Say what you will about their music, but I was there as a teen in the 70's and their music was bass, drums, crunchy rock guitar driven testosterone-pumping schtick. We used to play Kiss on a tape deck durings shop class while we worked on our projects. Calling Doctor Love!
Lame how CNN has a picture of the half KISS in the background. With all do respect for Paul, He wouldn't be where he is today without Ace and Peter. I'm glad the Hall of Fame only honored the real KISS. The original four who ruled the World, not half of a tribute band trying to copy that special chemistry.
Nigel Ciera Yeah like I said I'll bet your the prize of your family. The apple of your father's eye. Everyone must hold you in such high regard for your intellectual capabilities. What a winner!
The Rock Hall in Cleveland is a cemetery where old guitars, stars clothes and possessions go to get buried.

Paul Stanley has a pleasing Jersey voice. His Audio book where he constantly slams Gene , is how I get to sleep every night. Yes he reads his own audio book.
Of course he does. No one else would have the unbelievably melodiously soothing nature of the one and only Stanley Eisen, and there's no one else he actually trusts.
not a huge kiss fan although i do like a bunch of their songs ,was shocked when i saw em in 2000 for the reunion tour that i literally knew every friggin song, my take is good for paul for wanting all members to be recognized ,but it makes sense to me that the original 4 guys are the ones to be inducted ....they set the mold
I was prepared for all the comments that were going to going off on Paul, when in reality, he’s just telling the truth. While Eric Carr and Vinnie did also wear their makeup, it’s not really the first thing you think of when you think of the band’s face paint. He’s a very well spoken man, and I don’t think some people understand that.
Every member should be in including the fabulous four that started it all and Amen to the current members keeping the tradition of KISS alive all of them have been fabulous every member is important In KISSTORY in my opinion if you agree can I get a like God bless the KISS ARMY
Paul is standing up for musicians that have contributed to the success of KISS, as is his right of course, as founding member and front man. But I do get the Hall’s need to keep it simple, and relatable to the fans. The band Kiss is being inducted, and these 4 guys are the face and founding members of Kiss when they skyrocketed.
100% agree with the HOF. Fake Ace and pretend Peter wouldn't even exist with out the real Peter Criss and Ace Frehley. To argue something different is nonsense. In fact I'll go as far as saying without Ace Frehley no one would have ever even heard of KISS. There would be no such entity for these other people to have existed in.
I agree 💯 on what Paul Stanley said about the members with makeup & without makeup over the KISS years, have all the members of iconic band that's always superbly awesome shows with every albums tours! Jim Greszczuk
The Hall Of Fame website lists former Rolling Stones Brian Jones, Mick Taylor, Ian Stewart and Bill Wyman as members of the band as well as new guy Ron Wood. Love 'em or hate 'em, Kiss rocked millions and sold millions of records, probably more than most other inductees. Seems Paul has a point. He's earned my rock and roll respect for standing up for his boys.
@TheRandyManCan The big difference is that all the Rolling Stones line-ups from the Bill Wyman era actually did something noteworthy; even the Bill Wyman + Ron Wood lineup had bona-fide hits. Also, if they accepted non original Kiss members like Eric Carr or Vinnie Vincent for example, the Hall of Fame would've also been forced to accept the cover band that Kiss has become nowadays or else the slight would've been really notorious.
No matter how you rationalize it, the original 4 members of Kiss is the combination that put them on the map.. did the others that came after Ace and Peter have impact and play on "multiple platinum" albums as Paul states? Yes, but the original four is who blazed the trail and propelled Kiss to who they are.. The hey day of Kiss ( I know I was there as a kid and teenager in the 70's) was the mid 1970's to the early 80's. The time frame of the original 4. Did they have success after the early 80's? yes, but not to the degree of the height of there popularity. Kiss was displaced on the radio by the Hair metal groups of the early 80's (Motley Crue, RATT) then in a huge way by the emergence of the big 4 of Speed Metal (Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax). Carr & company did great things with Kiss, but not to the extent of the original four....
That's what I'm thinking. Their 70's stuff is so iconic and has a legendary statics it's hard to overshadow it. The 80's Kiss was still a big deal and still made top hits but the problem is. They were a whole different band in terms of sound and appearance. A lot of bands adapt with the times ( 70's, 80's, 90's, 2000's) like Aerosmith, ACDC, Cheap Trick, and U2 but they haven't gone a 180 like Kiss had. Kiss was following the threads too much instead of adapting to it. That was the problem. There were two things that could have helped during the 80's 1) take off the makeup and continue on with their original sound instead of going full LA glam metal. 2) If they kept the makeup on but have to adapt a much edger sound and appearance similar like Alice Cooper had in the mid-late 80's.
He's absolutely right. Eric Carr? Vinnie Vincent? Bruce Kulick? Eric Carr alone should have been included, after playing on every album after Peter Criss until he passed away. The R&R Hall of Fame has always been inconsistent when honoring past and present members of groups. Robert Trujillo was inducted with Metallica after only 6 years, yet Chicago were inducted without Bill Champlin and Jason Scheff after each spent roughly 30 years with the band. It's a crock.
The big thing here is influence. Only the original band influenced future generations of rockers. Kiss unmasked in the '80s had great songs but the knock on them then was that they were no longer leaders, they became followers. The '90s and beyond were spent trying to recapture past glories.
In my opinion yeah kiss was very theatrical but had some good music at the time ether you loved them or hated them but no one can deny that they still have a huge fan base. I think he is speaking his mind in a very professional adult Manner and it's a good think he did show up because even if he disagree with the system they still deserve the acknowledgement.
There's been loads of bands who had to wait for the HOF, and bands with different line-ups who were inducted with their original/most renowned lineup. GNR being one.
***** Haha I read that as him replying to "they are clowns now" with "no they don't" and it made me laugh. I realize he was responding to the original post but it was still funny.
Ken Jones if you guys want to see some sick ass kiss stuff, go see my last 5 or so shred videos. me and my friends shredding volcanoes to kiss music. I have some of me shredding in kiss outfits also.
I consider myself one of the most loyal KISS fans (since 1974) and I have to say I agree with the Hall of Fame. They are just two guys dressing up like someone else and playing someone else's music. The four original members should be the one's who get inducted. The others should earn stars the hard way like everyone else does.
Based on their longevity alone, Kiss deserved to be inducted as soon as they became eligible. That longevity includes past members such as Eric Carr, Vinnie Vincent, Bruce Kulick, and others. That night, everybody who was ever in Kiss and still alive should’ve been up there performing, makeup or not. But I think the real reason that didn’t happen was that the last time Kiss performed with members not in the current lineup, the fans demanded a reunion and they had to acquiesce.
Paul's a cool guy. He's smart and calm, knows what he's saying and what he believes. I don't think he considers himself a philosopher, he's simply well spoken and articulate. And he's been in the game long enough and made enough money to NOT have to bow down and cater to anyone. Least of all, the R&R hall of fame.
What Paul Stanley will not get through his very thick head is that ** It Was the ORIGINAL 4 Members That Brought Fame to KISS Gene Peter Paul and Ace Right now they are Just A Kiss Tribute band as Eric Singer And Tommy Thayer are not in the Kiss Corporation but contracted players. That's why for 90% of the Concerts they play at play the songs the original line up created
KISS deserves induction because of the great gimmick they came up with (nevermind that Alice Cooper and the New York Dolls did a less extreme version of it first), but, without that, they would have never have received any consideration at all.
I don’t know if you were around back in their heyday but their impact on pop culture in the 70s can’t be understated. They were a phenomenon. Is KISS the most talented band in the world? Obviously not. But they brought a completely new dimension of showmanship to rock music that transcends their music.
KISS just sucks and hasn't really earned any respect for contributions to the actual music. What have they ever added to rock n roll besides profit it off it?
@@tmtn9487 I mean most bands are in it to profit off it. KISS was one of the first if not the first band to do what they did back in the 70s. They lead that charge. Given that KISS today isn't as good as the original line up and it definitely ain't as good as the Unmasked lineup with Eric Carr and Bruce Kulick.
I agree with him. These people are arrogant against the fan base of many of these bands and talented artists. They don’t care about the past generations of Rock’n Roll. I did notice that the Moody Blues were finally inducted in 2018. I missed that, but there are many others who are snubbed, ignored, and purposely forgotten. For many many years, many of them have been suggested repeatedly, but not recognized or considered. It’s an outrage and discriminatory, a disgrace! Shame on the executive board for personal favoritism and turning a blind eye to their fans. We are still here!!! Yes, you have inducted a handful. Big deal!! What about the others who had sold out crowds, top 40 hits, and gold albums. Look at how many years the handful had to wait to be inducted!! Many of us who grew up in the 60’s and 70’s are disgusted with this yearly event. These talented artists were true blue Rock’n Rollers and yet, most of these selected inductees are still young and haven’t been around long enough to have been considered in the first place! It’s totally ridiculous that only a handful of board members use their own personal favorites for consideration and the fans choices are not allowed or even considered. The people of this era are being robbed of the satisfaction of seeing their favorite artists recognized and rewarded for future recognition. These fans are still here!!! Shame on you all!! Shame on you!!!
Paul wants to believe that whatever He and Gene were involved with deserves Hall of Fame recognition . The original four were a rock and roll phenomena , the other incarnations lived off of that . Plain and simple .
probably the best assessment here ^ creatively nothing Kiss has done since 1978 gets them in any HOF. I respect that he wants recognition for the other members but he can do that with their paychecks. If he's not giving Eric and Tommy each 1/4 of the current Kiss revenues I can't see why the hall needs to see them as anything but dependable stand-ins.
I understand your point but their are numerous inductees who were not phenomenal. To say that KISS, outside the original lineup, did not release some good music and put on cool tours is nonsense.
Robert Trujillo was inducted, and virtually NONE of Metallica's fans honestly believed he deserved it. RHCP, Grateful Dead, etc - tons of bands have had all sorts of non-original members inducted. KISS should have, too. Eric Carr, Bruce Kulick, and Eric Singer all earned induction for their contributions to multiple albums and tours. Vinnie Vincent might deserve induction, too, for his role in helping KISS make a huge comeback after being DOA in America for the previous 2 or 3 years.
If they felt that adamantly about having all the members of Kiss, past and present (as of that year) inducted, why did they accept the induction into the RRHOF? They should have said “Thanks, but no thanks”. THAT would have been rock ‘n roll of them.
Paul's only half right. While there were great moments in KISStory without Ace and Peter, and people like Eric Carr, Vinnie Vincent, Mark St. John, Bruce Kulick, and behind the scenes people (heck, maybe even Eric Singer since he played as himself before having to don the catman persona and Tommy Thayer since Monster is an album that a lot of people really like) should be recognized, it's not Paul's call to say who gets nominated. The R&RHOF has the right to honor whoever the hell it wants. Paul said it best when he said THEY want to pick and choose. That's what they do! If they don't think any other version of KISS is worth receiving THEIR award, then that's their opinion and right (and a hell of a lot of KISS fans agree with them; not all, obviously but a hell of a lot). Nobody's going to think less of KISS if only the 4 originals were nominated and allowed to play, and nobody's going to think higher of the R&RHOF for catering to certain people's whims. You either like KISS or you don't and/or you respect the R&RHOF as a worthy award institute or you don't. Awards have nothing to do with music or band worthiness anyway. They mean nothing to anybody other than those who need "proof" to back up their likes or morons who need "elite" people to tell them what's worthy (just think how many idiots flock to movie screens to see movies they were totally uninterested in seeing before those same movies were awarded Oscars by Hollywood insiders who want those types of movies to do well so they can make more of them... and more money from them). Also, the quote by the R&RHOF CEO actually does reflect what an awful lot of KISS fans believe regarding the current version of KISS. Tommy and Eric are NOT allowed to shine as themselves and ARE dressed up as and made to look sound and play like Ace and Peter. Anybody with eyes and/or ears can tell that. If you were to ask people if they became KISS fans because of Tommy and Eric or because of Ace and Peter, the numbers would be staggeringly one sided. The original KISS is what made KISS. Had the band started out as any other of their various incarnations, and without having a huge fan base which was created and made to last due to the original lineup (a fan base consisting of many who will take ANYTHING as long as it has the KISS name attached to it), it's HIGHLY unlikely that any of those other versions of KISS would have made the band the superstar phenomena that it became and still is today. Doesn't matter if some of the music or players were better, none of the later stuff was iconic or hysteria making in the same way that the original lineup of KISS was. There's no arguing that fact unless you're living in a fantasy world. I admire Paul for speaking his mind and being ticked off for not getting his way, but I also totally disagree with him when he says nobody cares who's behind the makeup. That's complete and utter baloney. That's why we listen to rock and roll instead of rap, hip hop, and dance music. Those kinds of music genre fans may not care about anybody other than the lead singer (most of the music consists of computer programming, samples, and interchangeable session players and backup dancers), but rock fans definitely know and care who plays guitar, who plays bass, who plays drums, and who sings. It's always BIG news when somebody leaves or is replaced. That's why most bands have limited life spans. People form a bond with their favorite band members and anything else simply will not do it for them. I loved the Eric Carr and non-makeup versions of KISS, but even they couldn't hold a candle in my personal opinion to the original magic makers. I wish I would have seen one of the Ace/Peter reunion concerts, but I mistakenly hoped that version of KISS would be around for the long haul. I've seen other versions of KISS live but never had the pleasure of seeing them with Ace and Peter except on video (and those shows I can always watch in their entirety unlike many others which I fast forward for certain songs). I would have loved to have seen Ace and Peter back with Paul and Gene again, even for just a short set, but I honestly think Paul knew that would have an adverse effect on KISS's upcoming tour. Who would want to see a Tommy and Eric version of KISS at today's prices if the Ace and Peter reunion went off without a hitch? Maybe they would have sounded sloppy, but we'll never know now, and I think that's exactly what Paul wants, at least at this particular point in time. It's a sad, sad state of affairs. Paul and Gene say they do things for the fans, but the truth is that they do it for themselves first and for SOME of the fans only, definitely not all of us. In this world of the internet and digital music, they could crank out tons of new material with all kinds of members past and present, but they choose to carry on with a lackluster band consisting of a singer whose pipes are shot, a bass player who sounds great but no longer emits any charisma due to overexposure, and two guys who are great players but who aren't allowed to create their own personal stamps and identities with crowds. Apart from a cool stage, the only thing that excites me about the upcoming KISS concert is... Def Leppard, a band that is one of the few with a "one for all and all for one" attitude. Now THAT's what being a band is supposed to mean. Otherwise, we'd have nothing but SINGERS, and believe me there are way too many of those parading around the world as so-called superstars.
Ha! I just looked at my post and you're right! That thing was long (and long winded!) as hell! LOL! Anyway, thanks for reading and sharing your perspective. That's super cool that you got to see Ace and Peter perform with KISS back in the day. If they ever do let bygones be bygones and play together, I'll be there this time for sure. I won't be holding my breath for that, though, but it would really make a lot of people happy. Have a great weekend, MetalSalvation and thanks again!
elfhermie Not trying to be critical here... you might get more people to read it if you go back in and insert some paragraph breaks. Generally speaking people tend to skip things that are big long chunks like that.
More like where would Paul and Gene be now had they never met Ace and Peter? Still playing with that crap band Wicked Lester? Peter and Ace did get to audition for a band, but not one that was the greatest band in the world. Peter and Ace were the missing pieces of the puzzle. They helped MAKE that band great due to their distinct sound and style. Love em or hate em, their playing is instantly recognizable. KISS would not be the KISS we all know had it not been for Ace and Peter bringing their rock n' roll attitudes to the fold. Nobody else that's been in the band would have brought that same sound. Bob and Bruce Kulick and Tommy Thayer had/have to be told to sound like Ace or they sound totally different. Had they been around in the beginning, you wouldn't have the same KISS sound that still exists today in their music. Ace was the perfect guitarist for the band. All you have to do is listen to stuff Gene and Paul did prior to Ace and Peter to see that they were going nowhere fast and couldn't come up with a signature sound. All Paul and Gene have done since Ace and Peter left is to keep a pale imitation of KISS afloat (literally in the case of the Kiss Kruises). It's no surprise that Peter and Ace haven't achieved the same success as solo artists that they did when in KISS. KISS was a band that had 4 guys each bringing their limited skills to the table and making a sweet meal when the ingredients connected. When Gene has gone solo musically, it's a joke. When Paul's gone solo, it's not bad but he doesn't bring in big numbers and plays to club crowds just like Ace and Peter have done. Does Keith Richards make waves when he does solo work? Nope. Face it, KISS and its members created the most hoopla and had the biggest success when the original 4 were a part of it (none of the other KISS members have achieved super stardom for their work outside of KISS). Also, if you think people who become addicts are to be simply swept aside, forgotten, and not to be rooted for when they work hard to break those habits, then that tells the world all they need to know about you and your intelligence/empathy. It IS indeed something to be proud of when one breaks an addiction. What a pile of rubbish you are for not thinking so. Keep bashing Ace and Peter and keep filling the wallets of Gene and Paul if you want to. Others expect more from a band that can do better and has done. Do you seriously not know just how influential Ace and Peter are to musicians? Their licks/riffs/fills/techniques are constantly taught by teachers and copied by students to this day. Nobody teaches Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer style... because they don't have their own style. If you think Ace and Peter are no good as musicians and you think Gene and Paul are fantastic, yikes. You're a real bozo if that's the case. The truth is that Gene and Paul are very good basic rhythm players, but Ace blows them away as musicians. Ace isn't the be all end all, but he's created more memorable riffs and solos than anybody else in the band. Ace and Peter let their instruments do the talking when they were in the band while Gene and Paul were more like theatrical characters. If you honestly think that KISS as it is today is out of this world fantastic then good for you. The rest of us only wish our eyes and ears saw things the same way because we used to love this band and really want to see more great things to come from them. It's been a LONG wait, though! A very long wait! Gene and Paul are having the same problems they had before Ace and Peter joined. They're in musical limbo, unable to create interest from new fans and unable to create songs that don't feature carbon copy imitations of their outcast ex-brothers. Tommy singing space themed songs and Eric singing husky doesn't make them Ace and Peter anymore than wearing their costumes/makeup does.
I need to correct Paul here. There were only 4 members of Kiss. Ever. Any one else was a hired replacement. I love Eric Carr and Vinnie Vincent to death. But they were never full partners with 25% profit sharing and they never had any voting rights in band matters. Only the original 4 members had that. Ace, Peter, Gene, and Paul.
Nigel Ciera, I am not saying sometimes lawsuites aren't justified, but I agree with your statement. Just move on and do something amazing. Put Paul and Gene behind you. I do like the Vinnie era, though.
Nigel Ciera, according to Gene and Paul, it was more ethical and personal. Not due to his musical ability. But who knows what to believe, with Gene and Paul. I think they just want people they can control. I read all four biographies, and Paul's in particular really had a lot of venom and self righteousness in it more than all of them. He admits he had trouble in school, yet he continually made fun of Peter for not reading and writing too well. He probably enjoys making fun of people in wheel chairs for fun, too.
Let's see Gene, Paul, Ace, and Peter = original members. Replacements = Vinnie Vincent and Eric Carr. After that the rest of them were some hired guns. End of story.
Paul was speaking to the point that they sold MILLIONS of records without makeup, and those members Bruce Kulick and Eric Carr were important members during all that time and not simply "dressed up in costumes and makeup." It is demeaning to every member of the band. I think that gets lost in the 'Peter and Ace' disrespected stance.
So what does Paul want? Every friggin player that has ever been in the band inducted? Come on man! KISS is Paul, Gene, Peter and Ace. PERIOD! Case closed.
We need to build a new Rock and Roll hall of fame dedicated to only the rockers and rollers . Make it huge and plentiful like in a couple of abandon malls. Open up the theaters with concert shows and documentaries. Open up the book stores with auto biographies and music subjects. Open up the restaurants that represent the time of different generations. Open up other malls for different music genres. This is our history and heritage. We must cherish this and keep it. Don’t delete this from our life’s and future generations like we did when we destroyed our statues. Everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy and experience the feel a little bit of what it was like living in the 50’s, 60’s , 70’s .....all different era’s. Watching just a movie isn’t enough to really appreciate it involves all of your senses, the smells, the sound, taste, sight, feel , the lingo and the excitement in the air.
Back in the early seventies I was in a big fan of Kiss the only song you ever liked was Beth but I like them know and I respect as men made it to the top they're just like regular people but problems beautiful families Long Live kiss
Fair enough Paul and although I do not nor do any other fans know the full story about Peter and Ace leaving (kicked out?) the band, the Hall is saying they want to induct the 4 original members of KISS and as a fan of them (sort of), I agree. I think that the contributions of Peter and Ace were huge and were more than any other KISS members since.
As soon as I found out the proposed location to build the rrhf I knew it would be bullshit , and it has been , Madonna hasn't performed rock music ever yet she's in there , what's next , john travolta for Saturday night fever & his silk shirt dancing ?
Paul is 100% right. Years ago when I didn't pay attention I thought bands complaints were about egos. But now I'm paying attention and every year a couple bands mention the same problem with the Hall. Even if you don't think Kiss belongs. And the thing about costumes is nonsense. Every band wears a costume. The Red Hot Chili Peppers wore only a sock on their ding dong once. That was a costume
The comment about costuming IS valid because G&P put new people in the same outfits and claimed they WERE that character, rather than their own original thing (like Carr & Vincent at least); Hagar never dressed up as Roth, Jake never dressed up as Rhoads, et cetera et cetera. Not a case of apples and oranges, more like apples and pork chops. ;-)
KISS IS FREAKN AWESOME. PURE FUN HIGH ENERGY ROCK N ROLL. WHEN THEY TAKE THE STAGE THEY PUT 1000% INTO THEIR SHOW. WHEN YOU LEAVE THAT CONCERT YOU ARE ENERGIZED!!! LOVE TO WORKOUT TO ALIVE 2
I'm sorry but a lot of you must be missing some of things he said over time again and again. He did aknowledge Ace and Peter as the originals he just said all other people who have helped out should be included.
The 60s and 70s rock bands are the very foundation of rock ‘n’ roll. There are more legendary groups from those two decades Than any other two decades you might put together. The bands and the musicians in these are the rockers that are still performing and selling stadiums out to this day. This is the error of Beatles,Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones ,Queen,Pink Floyd ,AC/DC ,Van Halen ,Aerosmith ,Ted Nugent ,Boston , ELO ,Bob Dylan, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kiss,Journey ,Cream,Kinks,David Bowie,Peter Frampton......on and on. These are only a tip of the iceberg but there’s too many to list like the Grateful Dead ,Tom Petty ,Rush, Black Sabbath‼️ name me any other time that has as many rock ‘n’ roll giants! I’m not talking about disco or popular music like Taylor Swift, Britney Spears type music. I’m talking about rock ‘n’ roll music. There are so many one hit wonders or one or two albums and forgotten bands now. Just saying 🤔 one man’s opinion🎸
Got to hand it to Paul, because he's got a huge set of brass balls to slag the RNRHOF and still get inducted. But he is right though. Kiss's legacy includes so much more than just the original 4 members, and they all contributed something valuable to Kiss's catalog of music in their own way.
Paul's A 110% Correct The fans & I'm 1 of them would have accepted if the band shows not to show up to get the award that would have stuck it to him and maybe woke some people up over at the hall
The additional irony about the R&RHOF overlooking Eric Carr and Bruce Kulick was that on the same night Kiss were inducted, Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band went in as well. The ESB induction included Vini Lopez and David Sancious amongst the other members. Lopez and Sancious only played on Springsteen's first 2 albums, both of which flopped initially, and only began to sell in large numbers after the success of Born to Run and subsequent albums. While Kiss in the 80's weren't nearly as successful as they'd been in the 70's, their 80's releases easily outsold the initial sales figures for Springsteen's first 2 albums, Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ and The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle. That hardly seems fair, especially given how long Kiss had to wait to be inducted, but it's hardly surprising when Jon Landau (Springsteen's manager), Dave Marsh (Springsteen's biographer) and Steve Van Zandt (Springsteen's guitarist) are all among the voting members of the hall. I know Paul said they only went to the induction as a show of respect for how much lobbying their fans had done to get them in there, but I'm one fan who wishes they had told them to stick it up their ass.
He's right, and his point is completely valid. How many different members have passed through the E-Street band, Grateful Dead, Parliament Funkadelic? I don't have a problem with any of those members getting in, But Bruce Kulick and Eric Carr not only played on multi-platinum records, they had tenure outlasting Ace and Peter. Six members, and Eric Singer has an argument too, with his body of work, should have been inducted. Fair is fair
He said something articulate? It is exactly true that Paul and gene decided to have other people play the roles that Peter and Ace created, rather than have them come up with new ones, like they did with Eric carr, because people wanted the classic Kiss. The original Kiss is what made the impact on music. I feel people should boycott bands like Kiss and The Eagles, who have treated band members and former band members badly.
Well said! I had no idea about the dark side of the R.R. Hall of fame until Steve Miller was vocal about the organization a few years ago.
Besides what Steve Miller, said it's a tourist trap, you could have the same or better experience at a Hard Rock Cafe and have a halfway decent meal and/or beer at that.
Steve was epic on that rant.
It's just an organization founded by a hidden group of people as a museum to honor the artists they like. They probably despise the rappers they put in, but do it because it's good PR.
Not just guys that didn't wear makeup, Eric Carr was a member for 11 years. Just saying
Eric Carr deserves recognition for sure, but he wasn't the original four. They are the ones that created the template.
Eric did wear makeup. If you were in KISS, you should have been inducted.
Bruce Kulick deserves the induction as well, he played for 12 years
Metallica’s Jason Newstead was on 3 1/2 CD’s compared to Robs 1 1/2 and both were inducted. Why wouldn’t they add Eric Carr. Pathetic.
@@danielmora3843 So right. Eric Carr, Vinnie Vincent, and Bruce Kulick at minimum should have been inducted.

Valid point! If the band Kiss is the one being inducted, if former members are in good standing with the original members and members of the final iteration of the band. And they contributed to the bands success and longevity, and the founding members want them included in the recognition. They should be included in the ceremony and the literal induction.
The Hall of Fame is a joke. There are dozens of bands that deserve to be "members' but will probably never get inducted because the members don't like them or some other reason.
And they're too busying inducting acts that had nothing to do with Rock.
@@JohnDavis-ss4dw sadly yeah
It has nothing to do with traditional Dem/Rep. politics so let's get that straight. But I totally agree that this HOF is a complete joke. Jethro Tull isn't in, but the Beastie Boys are????? Right! Spoken in the words of Alex Lifeson, "blah, blah, blah."
+GETole It absolutely is, and the order in which they induct people/bands makes no sense.
Oh no.............Not Taylor and Justin. LOL.
Paul's thought process is a little convoluted here. He needs to acknowledge Ace and Peter as the founding members weather he like's it or not, give credit where credit is due.
I agree. They were there as founding members.
Kidd Marlowe yeah like the beastie boys.... or nwa.... rock n roll hall is a fucking joke dude
Kidd Marlowe You missed the whole point.
Eric and Bruce, without any question, totally deserved to be inducted!!!
Nash1965H and Vinnie
Agreed. Musically speaking they put out better songs with Eric and Bruce in the lineup.

Paul is certainly well spoken. Seems like they got the last word in the end, good on Kiss.
Well said at the end..I'm happy to say I seen em live,
One of em bucket list..
Paul and Gene are very articulate and smart guys and they have very valid points. They should tell the HOF to "stick it"!
Alice Cooper has had several outstanding musicians playing with him over the years, but only the original band got in.. I agree with that
That is because Alice Cooper was a band after the breakup Vincent took the stage name Alice cooper and went solo
Technically, the Alice Cooper Band ended with Muscle Of Love (1973), and Welcome To My Nightmare (1975) was the first Alice Cooper (the dude) solo album.
But it remains a valid point, there have been piles of "members" in and out of numerous longstanding "bands":
Asia = 20, Kansas = 19, Sabbath = 20+, Head East = 15, Judas Priest = 13, Rainbow = 127....
Yep this goes on in every level of life.
Lame how CNN has a picture of the half KISS in the background. With all do respect for Paul, He wouldn't be where he is today without Ace and Peter. And they wrote all the songs that made KISS
KISS are the original four, not the hired guns. This is one of the few things Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is correct about.
Tell it Paul!!! KISS fan since 77'!
I've always found Paul (Stan) to be a class act and take the high road.
ThRandyManCan fuck PAUL
and fuck fake kiss
You are comparing a novelty act to the Rolling Stones? Good God man were your parents cousins?
LMFAO!!!
They wanted the original members because you wouldn’t be here without them Paul.
I agree with Paul...some great musicians were in KISS between 82 and the point where Thayer and the drummer joined.
I'm not a kiss fan, but I have to say that my favorite songs did come out of the non makeup era.
I love Paul Stanley. He's someone everyone should emulate. What a terrific person.
Paul, I never followed anybody but myself, but if I had to choose...you are my #1 rock persona!!!!
The big thing here is influence. Only the original band influenced future generations of rockers. Kiss unmasked in the '80s had great songs but the knock on them then was that they were no longer leaders, they became followers. The '90s and beyond were spent trying to recapture past glories.
And the Grateful Dead were not doing the same thing?!?!? Yet everyone and their milkman got inducted
Kiss is a great band
I agree, ignore the haters.
There's been loads of bands who had to wait for the HOF, and bands with different line-ups who were inducted with their original/most renowned lineup. GNR being one.

I consider myself one of the most loyal KISS fans (since 1974) and I have to say I agree with the Hall of Fame. They are just two guys dressing up like someone else and playing someone else's music. The four original members should be the one's who get inducted. The others should earn stars the hard way like everyone else does.
You cant be more wrong. Eric Carr should have been inducted.
Eric Carr should have been inducted no questions ask. Bruce Kulick as well
orgasmtron1 I loved Vinnie Vincent in Kiss. He was part of their greatest record (Creatures) and played a big role in the success of Lick It Up
Oh I agree I would have totally been for vinnie being in
Paul's a cool guy. He's smart and calm, knows what he's saying and what he believes. I don't think he considers himself a philosopher, he's simply well spoken and articulate. And he's been in the game long enough and made enough money to NOT have to bow down and cater to anyone. Least of all, the R&R hall of fame.
What Paul Stanley will not get through his very thick head is that
** It Was the ORIGINAL 4 Members That Brought Fame to KISS

Right now they are Just A Kiss Tribute band as Eric Singer And Tommy Thayer are not in the Kiss Corporation but contracted players.
That's why for 90% of the Concerts they play at play the songs the original line up created
I'm not a fan of Paul Stanley, but I agree with him here and his point was very eloquent. Kudos to you, sir!
I think Paul is right on track! RRHF is a good ol' boy monstosity
Many great performers are ignored entirely...
It is their Hall, their rules, just do not accept. Bands with much more character and influence are not in the Hall
Exactly! Don't show up. It is meaningless.
No one in rock has made more people pick up an instrument short of a few bands. Ever

@@MENFUSSMIKE Agreed.
If there is any band who deserves to be in its Mercyful Fate!
Generally speaking people tend to skip things that are big long chunks like that.
too long, get a life
too short, get a brain
I became a KISS fan when I first heard BETH in 1976.
Yikes that almost made me not be a fan
I always laugh when some die hard such as yourself actually believes he knows better about what KISS is or isn't than Paul Stanley.
Eric was in the band for 11yrs
Eric Carr was a gifted musician and Kiss member for 11 years. He deserves to be honoured too.
Kiss - Paul, Gene, Ace and Peter. The End.
What about the late Eric Carr who basically saved KISS from going down the toilet after the Peter Criss got the boot?
No. KISS-Paul, Gene, Peter, Ace, Eric, Vinnie, Mark, Bruce, Eric, Tommy.
Back in the early seventies I was in a big fan of Kiss the only song you ever liked was Beth but I like them know and I respect as men made it to the top they're just like regular people but problems beautiful families Long Live kiss
Im not spending another penny on Kiss items unless they tour with Ace & Pete
Fair enough Paul and although I do not nor do any other fans know the full story about Peter and Ace leaving (kicked out?) the band, the Hall is saying they want to induct the 4 original members of KISS and as a fan of them (sort of), I agree. I think that the contributions of Peter and Ace were huge and were more than any other KISS members since.
except that KISS was huge in the 80's with other members and had a big influence on bands as much as they did in the 70's
Not a case of apples and oranges, more like apples and pork chops. ;-)
The fact that disco is included in the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" is a kick in the nads to real rock music and real rock musicians.
Real Rock? What a joke of a post!
@@MeIn321 Where is disco today? It was a joke then and it's a joke now.
You have had a great life Paul, why don't you just be happy to be in the Rock and Roll hall of fame
KISS IS FREAKN AWESOME. PURE FUN HIGH ENERGY ROCK N ROLL. WHEN THEY TAKE THE STAGE THEY PUT 1000% INTO THEIR SHOW. WHEN YOU LEAVE THAT CONCERT YOU ARE ENERGIZED!!! LOVE TO WORKOUT TO ALIVE 2
Teenage bubble gum so called music.
Paul's such a well spoken guy (y) Cheers to him
I'm sorry but a lot of you must be missing some of things he said over time again and again. He did aknowledge Ace and Peter as the originals he just said all other people who have helped out should be included.
understand what he saying but if start doing that then some bands that had 15 new members over the years and turns into a circus
A Psycho Circus!
Go for it brother! Kiss Rules!
Paul you have a great attitude! You are a wise man.
Putting Kiss in the same basket as Guar? Please.
J can I know right? What a blatant insult to GWAR being lumped in with those no talent ass clowns!!!
Paul's A 110% Correct The fans & I'm 1 of them would have accepted if the band shows not to show up to get the award that would have stuck it to him and maybe woke some people up over at the hall
Sorry Paul, but being articulate is being able to keep talking ..bring up new points while not repeating the same tired cliche.
LOL
That’s not what articulate means. It means you can express an idea fully and fluently. To get the point across, which Paul did.
@@isaiahmarquez9717 It means the same. I was referring to the fact that he repeated the same talking points to everyone that he spoke to.
I know Paul said they only went to the induction as a show of respect for how much lobbying their fans had done to get them in there, but I'm one fan who wishes they had told them to stick it up their ass.
and what about Grand Funk Railroad?
He's right about one thing, it is a small group of people that decide the groups.
You get what you deserve Paul for making a mockery of the greatest rock band in history.
MetalSalvation
Worst band in history.
Paul did say something that night at the induction ceremony. He mentioned the other members of the band in past years who were not included.
Def Leppard should be in the Rock Hall Of Fame
Joe Cocker still isn't there.
Why the hell isn't the original lineup of Black Sabbath not in yet?
They are and have been for over a decade...
I quote them all the time: "It's better to burn out, than to fade away!" No truer words have ever been spoken and/or sung.
I agree with Paul to an extent, while many members have contributed to kiss success they wouldn't be anywhere without the original 4.
Not a fan of the hall of fame but it took Rush way longer and they are so much better than kiss.
Blah, blah blah blah. Blah, blah, bla bla bla blah blah blah. Blah Blah!
I was never a Kiss fan...however, Paul Stanley is absolutely correct.
KISS RULES!!!
Sugar D
Beth really rocked the house.
The R&R HOF inducted Joan Jett ahead of the Moody Blues.
How much credibility could they have?
Joan Jett is an amazing performer and songwriter. Where have the Moody Blues been since the 60s?
@@MeIn321 The 70'a & 80's. They should have been in years ago.
I've never thumbed up a CNN video my entire life, so they need to thank Paul because it'll never happen again.
Come on Paul. Tommy is not Ace. And everybody knows it but you.
roquefortfiles give it a rest already
pauls head trip is accellerating as he grows older
Rock bands from the 70s are passed over while rap "artists""are inducted. What a joke.
ok trumptard
He said something articulate? It is exactly true that Paul and gene decided to have other people play the roles that Peter and Ace created, rather than have them come up with new ones, like they did with Eric carr, because people wanted the classic Kiss. The original Kiss is what made the impact on music. I feel people should boycott bands like Kiss and The Eagles, who have treated band members and former band members badly.
