Well one lesbianism is not a sin lust is. Two by not adressing the fact that frollo is a lesbian is good because it is not the sin but her pride and lust are.

This is the most criminally underrated video I've ever seen. The coloring, the shading, the anatomy, the expressions, all of it is flawless! You my friend have earned a new sub 👍
I was browsing through UA-cam today watching these annapanstu hellfire animatics and I saw this. After replaying this a million times, I can gladly say make that 3 lol So glad I subscribed, can’t wait to see more
This is genuinely one of my all time favourite animatics! I've watched it so many time and will probably want it a bunch more, it gets me so pumped up to draw and create. Plus I laugh every time the sketchy servant boy goes squish lmao.
I know Frollo was just a perv, but this version makes things different. Like she's scared that she's a lesbian, and not only doesn't accept her sexuality, but thinks that she'll go to hell for it. Furthermore, she's convinced she's straight and that she's cursed or bewitched. It kinda seems she's mostly acting out of fear more than anything else
@@greyblueme9711 Well, it's true, but the church used to do that as well! It was just the normal procedure when they THOUGHT someone was bewitched or possessed ...
Ruby Sapphire Frollo is still a horrible person but I'd have a little more sympathy since Claudia would be struggling with not just lusting after someone (and a gypsy no less), but also homosexuality- both of which were considered sins and absolutely unacceptable in the eyes of the Church.
Natalie L you’re right- regardless of gender, Frollo is still a disgusting, evil person. I do believe the concept of him being a woman adds far more complexity to his character however and makes for a more interesting story.
so i guess traumatizing quasimodo and lusting over esmeralda as well as killing tons of people is okay as long as its gay? you guys notice something cuz i do
Beata Maria You know I am a righteous man Of my virtue I am justly proud Beata Maria You know I'm so much purer than The common, vulgar, weak, licentious crowd Then tell me, Maria Why I see her dancing there Why her smoldering eyes still scorch my soul I feel her, I see her The sun caught in her raven hair Is blazing in me out of all control Like fire Hellfire This fire in my skin This burning desire Is turning me to sin It's not my fault I'm not to blame It is the gypsy girl The witch who sent this flame It's not my fault If in God's plan He made the devil so much Stronger than a man Protect me, Maria Don't let this siren cast her spell Don't let her fire sear my flesh and bone Destroy Esmeralda And let her taste the fires of Hell Or else let her be mine and mine alone Hellfire Dark fire Now gypsy, it's your turn Choose me or Your pyre Be mine or you will burn God have mercy on her God have mercy on me But she will be mine Or she will burn!
This really hit home for me- as a bisexual girl living in a religious household, I was taught that loving the same sex is evil. So I really felt that I was being controlled by a dark evil. I know it sounds stupid but when you’re taught that your whole life it’s hard to get out of that mindset. I have now, I accept myself but it still lingers
I don’t think it’s a sin. God wouldn’t have made you this way If God didn’t want to :) . Frollos sin isn’t sexuality but her lust and mass murder. Lust is selfish and makes people do horrible things.
I 100% relate to this because it shows (or my prospective) how someone of a religious background (or home) that doesn't allow same sex love or something and I love this because of how fricking relatable it's and how beautifully it was made!!
I freaking love this animatic. How her actions remind me of Frollo's motivations, but has that underlying battle of "oh god, what is my sexuality?" Also at 1:52 when she shifts the blame to Esmeralda as the source of her desire and thus her sin, how the flame goes from this individual to the monster or demon that the song implies
TinyBlueCat I agree. Both show internal struggles. And what do both have in common? That their religion which is SUPPOSED to teach love (sex can be included in that too for those arguing towards lust) is really just guilt tripping their people for NATURAL feelings. Psychology shows the problems of repressing emotions like that. Like how repressing anger is unhealthy is an example. anyways I love both XD
Wow. The gender swap really changes the meaning. A holy woman discovers her love for a gypsy girl, but gets stuck in a Battle against her self and society. She loves Esmeralda but homosexuality is “a sin” and society of the time would strip her of her status and possibly even execute her if she loved another woman, especially one of gypsy status like Esmeralda. Unlike claude frollo, you can feel some sympathy for this woman(who’s Name I am guessing is Claudia Frolllo) and you may even find some justification in her actions, if she was driven insane by the fact that she could not love who she cared for.
exactly , like just try to imagine what her life is like . She was obviously raised very religious her whole life , but as soon as she huts pubrty she starts having all these " fobiden " desires which only pushes her further in her religious delusion , she thn notices that unlike other people she does not habe any sexual desires (because she is homosexual and doesn't even recignize her desires as sexual attraction or has gotten used to repressing them ) which only makes her feel purer and closer to god , slowly she starts feeling pride and superiority amongst the sinners around her and then years later after she has reached her dreams and feels closer to god than ever she realizes everything has been futile all along
While I do agree homosexual aspect makes this scene deeper, I wouldn't go as far as to say I feel sympathy for her. No matter the gender, Frollo is still a bastard who is willing to kill a race of people and force a woman to love them just to prove to themselves to be pious. Never forget this song is a denial of a holy man(woman)'s darkside.
@@thehoebehindthedumpster9389 actually not having sexuall desires isnt being pure (God intended for people to be attracted to the opposite sex for a good reason). And He doesn't want people to feel superior to others.
I love how it went from serious to silly then back to serious in the span of 10 seconds. Beautiful artstyle and stunning character designs make this amazing. Keep up the wonderful work~♡
from 1:03 to 1:44, it's one of the most beautiful, powerful and purest love scenes I have ever seen, and I fall in love with it every time ... :D It looks like, feels like and sounds like sincere love rather than just pure lust (unlike male Frollo) plus she's a very religious woman, who's in love with another woman, which makes this some kind of a forbidden love (with real struggle) and even more beautiful :D
To make a long story short, as a man of the church in that period ("Minister Frollo"), it was heavily improper for him to lust in *any* way, especially after a gypsy because heretics. However, he would kinda need to kill her anyway, again because heretics, but the implication is that he would hide her away and let her live if she became his.
May I just say, the expressions are absolutely beautiful and give the animatic life. The anatomy is stunning as well, the scene with the fire is clever as well. My favorite animatic of this cover yet. You deserve more views and subscribers, along with gaining one.
Literally the only thing i'm disappointed about after watching this is that this is your only video this is absolutely amazing???? Not only the expressions and characters, but how they interact with the environment too. I'm trying to start making animatics, and that's something I struggle with, it's amazing to see someone do it so well. This is definitely inspiring, and I hope you make more animatics! Also I love the gay yes please

I'm?? In love?? I can't even articulate how much I love the expressiveness and use of all those different angles and the fire symbolism and how you made her grow progressively haggard until her neatly styled hair just comes undone completely and I'm just. Very gay. I would be hers without a moment's hesitation.
God, I don’t think I can truly explain how much I am in love with this. The feelings and emotions that come across the art are beautiful and powerful. I feel the anger and confusion and lust that you have portrayed. Not only that, the cover you picked to use is incredibly and yet again, powerful. I am simply in love with this whole video
Aeona F. No no, people are talking about that because in the bible there is a quote that says ‘man shall not sleep with man’ which most Christians disagree with, though sadly some do. (I learned this in my Religious Education class, I’m not religious) and especially in those times homosexuality was treated as a huge sin.
Dude 1:09 - 1:44 is amazing I mean just the visuals on 1:19 is SO GOOD. The emotion on that one frame and then it just keeps going! And then at 1:45 the gay panic. Man this is just so cool. How am I just seeing this now???
2:35 ‘She’s nowhere in the cathedral. She’s-‘ Folds into herself ‘GoNe!!!1!11!1!1’ I have no idea what this is from but I want more of it. OH WAIT IS IT FROM THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME???? MAYBE? I’VE NEVER WATCHED BUT THIS ACTUALLY SEEMS LIKE IT COME FROM IT NOW THAT IM THINKING ABOUT WHAT I KNOW ABOUT THE MOVIE. (Why am I shouting????) Also yas dem lesbianssss
Krystal Clear This is the female cover of a song from the Hunchback of Notre Dame. I suggest you watch it ASAP if you haven’t already(it’s been a month so idk if you’ve seen it or not)
I watched this video so long after it was made- But has anyone complimented how at 1:26 through 1:43 you made her skin look like it was actually burnt? WONDERFUL detail!
Hearing these powerful vocals with the animation was amazing, but the fact that it was a woman instead an old man stuck a chord with me. Her face, the struggle between sexuality and religion, the wavering vocals, it's all so on point with my own life that it brought me to tears. I love every part of this with all of my soul.
Whoo! This is the first one I’ve seen with the fire bit. And I really like how you’ve done it, as well as your style for characters! Funny thought, but this actually sorta works better than the original. In the original, Frolo could just claim Esmeralda was staying locked in his home for conversion purposes or whatever. But as a woman?? As a woman, the conflicting emotions work even better. Imagine what a woman of the time, especially a nun, would go through if she suddenly discovered she was a lesbian? Yeah it’s not entirely accurate to history, but ignoring history and treating it as a thought experiment? I think it’s awesome.
Adding onto that, I'd like to take a single scene from the film, and apply it under the lens this cover and animatic present. The nun Frolla, in an attempt to keep the crowds of the faithful from destroying their souls in this kind of bawdy merriment, walks out into the streets where the festival is occurring. However, she gets distracted by a dancing gypsy girl in the midst of all this, and Frolla's heart flutters. A kind of warmth she's not felt before spreads in her chest, and she stands to watch the show as she's caught up in Esmeralda's performance. She, of all people, catches the gypsy's scarf, and confusing emotions and desires stew within her . . . until she catches herself in this sin, this heresy. Self-loathing consumes her, but her pious dogma refuses to let her consider that emotion, either; it has to be some kind of witchcraft. Love, lust, and desire do not mix well with hatred of this magnitude . . . and, unfortunately, as a God-fearing nun, it's the hate that poisons these blossoming feelings. Or I could be reading in too deeply. Don't know.
@@elijahpadilla5083 Then in the scene when she fell off the roof, her last words would be: "tell Esmeralda I am truly sorry". As realisation hits her. Quasi actually tries to save Frollo but fails.

Well. When it's lesbianism and not simple natural lust that Frollo is struggling with, that certainly makes the stakes of his mental battle higher...
Well one lesbianism is not a sin lust is. Two by not adressing the fact that frollo is a lesbian is good because it is not the sin but her pride and lust are.
GravityFallsdabest 1 It’s because it is considered a sin at the time, or would be in Frollo’s eyes, that she would be struggling it... You realize when ppl say this in the comments, they don’t mean homosexuality is actually a sin?

I know Frollo was just a perv, but this version makes things different. Like she's scared that she's a lesbian, and not only doesn't accept her sexuality, but thinks that she'll go to hell for it. Furthermore, she's convinced she's straight and that she's cursed or bewitched. It kinda seems she's mostly acting out of fear more than anything else

(THIS ANIMATIC IS JUST BEAUTIFUL AND WITH ANNA'S VOICE IS JUST PERFECT)
I agree, you can sympathize more with Claudia(?)Frollo then Claude Frollo
Ruby Sapphire Frollo is still a horrible person but I'd have a little more sympathy since Claudia would be struggling with not just lusting after someone (and a gypsy no less), but also homosexuality- both of which were considered sins and absolutely unacceptable in the eyes of the Church.
I don’t think it would matter whether Frollo was a girl or boy. Either way frollo is a terrifying evil villain who I have little sympathy for
Natalie L you’re right- regardless of gender, Frollo is still a disgusting, evil person. I do believe the concept of him being a woman adds far more complexity to his character however and makes for a more interesting story.

I’m a lesbian in a religious area. I get dirty looks. Trust me don’t let it get to you. Be authentic with who you are
I don’t think it’s a sin. God wouldn’t have made you this way If God didn’t want to :) . Frollos sin isn’t sexuality but her lust and mass murder. Lust is selfish and makes people do horrible things.
It is okay no judgment from me

I freaking love this animatic. How her actions remind me of Frollo's motivations, but has that underlying battle of "oh god, what is my sexuality?"
Also at 1:52 when she shifts the blame to Esmeralda as the source of her desire and thus her sin, how the flame goes from this individual to the monster or demon that the song implies
When it’s not a creepy old man singing this song is actually really dope, thank you for opening my eyes 🙌
its better with frollo. dont tell me it aint.
Ghost Rider I think both have there ups and downs. They are both great
TinyBlueCat I agree. Both show internal struggles. And what do both have in common? That their religion which is SUPPOSED to teach love (sex can be included in that too for those arguing towards lust) is really just guilt tripping their people for NATURAL feelings. Psychology shows the problems of repressing emotions like that. Like how repressing anger is unhealthy is an example.
anyways I love both XD
yea still creepy. Creepy lady, creepy man. Tomäto tomāto.
I like both frollos not creepy he’s just misunderstood lol
If she is a priest that is gay what the fuck has she been doing there all this time?
If she cared for her why would "she" burn her?
And as God said he won't let anyone be tempted more than what they can resist.

Logic of an abuser
Julie Clapfish “yO I bUrnEd dOwn PaRis aNd nEarLy kILled yOur MaN. WAnnA sMaSh”
To make a long story short, as a man of the church in that period ("Minister Frollo"), it was heavily improper for him to lust in *any* way, especially after a gypsy because heretics. However, he would kinda need to kill her anyway, again because heretics, but the implication is that he would hide her away and let her live if she became his.

awesome animatic! I've been looking around for more animatics of this cover thank you!
Don't know.
EXACTLY!
The Library Glad to see someone as overanalytical as myself in one of these comments sections.
