Dang, way to pull off a ranking of so many series! I can't fault you if things don't hit the same it does for other people. We all have subject matter that just doesn't work for us and I appreciate you putting that out there for us. It's a pretty solid ranking and there's a lot there I have on my TBR.

Wow!! Great video! I'm surprised by your feelings on both Joe Abercrombie and Mark Lawrence's stuff. They're my favorite authors right now, and everything in the First Law is top tier, imo (though the second trilogy is definitely not as good as the first). To each their own, of course! This video definitely makes me want to check out a bunch of other series I haven't read yet.
Mark and Joe are great writers. Glokta is amazing. I do agree the second trilogy wasn’t as good.
I'd love to hear what you have to say about the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant. Especially the first 2 series. Was a little disappointed that this series wasn't included in your 70 book rankings.

It is funny that the wordcount you have read in wandering inn is nearly equal to the number of words Robert Jordan wrote in wheel of time. And yet you have not read the first epic conclusion of storyline that have been developing for all these books.

I'm too behind on new fantasy - and series in general - to get offended, and I can accept your takes on Wheel of Time and Lord of the Rings (god tier with Silmarillion writings for me) and Dresden (only read 2 books of it anyway, but I'm fairly smitten).
What's harder to accept is you leaving off Dragonlance all together, 🧐 Besides your personality, I subscribed because you had nice things to say about it in a booktube sphere that mostly ignores or can't get into it. You may not have it as high as me, but I doubt you'd put it in meh.
Anyway, I'm getting to these stories; meantime seeing how each booktuber feels differently about all these big names somehow remains interesting to me, despite my lack of experience.
Oh my goodness!!!! 🤦♂️I keep finding more and more series I could have included… I knew I had forgotten some but Dragonlance is a huge oversight on my behalf.
It’s a foundational series for me and I’m shocked it slipped my mind. It would have definitely been in the great category

Love this tier list! I’m really enjoying Alex Verus a few books in, glad to hear you love that so much. And DCC near the top let’s GOOOOOOOOO!!! I just did two full listens to all 6 books and can’t wait for the next one to drop.

My main takeaway from this for me: I need to read Long Price Quartet.
Yessss LPQ is just a stunning masterpiece. It’s really breathtaking how well crafted it is.
I'm probably going to do a re-read this year. One of my all-time favourites.

First of all, great video! Thank you for a lot of effort.
But one thing i do not understand is the love everyone has for Wheel of Time. I have read well over a thousand fantasy books of all kinds. And i couldn't get past the first 10 chapters of Wheel of Time. It is just so dreadfully boring. I could not care less for any character that shows up until then.

On the other hand I really don't understand how First Law could be anything else than meh.
Glotka is brilliant there is some other cool characters but everything else is so convoluted

Wow, DCC so high! I'm in book 2 now and enjoying it, although don't love the quest side story. Which are your favorites in the series?
Book 1 was exquisite. I really enjoyed books 1-5 almost universally. The side quest story wasn’t my favorite but I still enjoyed it.
I thought Eye of the World & Daughter of the Empire were your favorite books of all time? They are not worthy of the Best of the Best?
This was series so daughter of the empire can’t make the list because I haven’t finished the series yet. WoT as a series ranks lower than just Eye of the World
