Dang, way to pull off a ranking of so many series! I can't fault you if things don't hit the same it does for other people. We all have subject matter that just doesn't work for us and I appreciate you putting that out there for us. It's a pretty solid ranking and there's a lot there I have on my TBR.
Thanks! 😊 It’s all subjective for sure. A lot of stuff that will work for others that didn’t work for me. I’m hope you enjoy diving into your TBR and finding new favorites.
Wow!! Great video! I'm surprised by your feelings on both Joe Abercrombie and Mark Lawrence's stuff. They're my favorite authors right now, and everything in the First Law is top tier, imo (though the second trilogy is definitely not as good as the first). To each their own, of course! This video definitely makes me want to check out a bunch of other series I haven't read yet.
Love this tier list! I’m really enjoying Alex Verus a few books in, glad to hear you love that so much. And DCC near the top let’s GOOOOOOOOO!!! I just did two full listens to all 6 books and can’t wait for the next one to drop. Right with you on the Wheel of Time slog just being limited to CoT! My main takeaway from this for me: I need to read Long Price Quartet.
Love me a good tier ranking!! Really nice to see so many of the series ranking in great or above, makes me happy that you have had so much fun with the majority of these. HECK YES for giving LPQ all the love it deserves. And I am so eager to continue with Cal Black's series, but I think I might just reread No Land for Heroes first. Great list!!
Thanks Esmay! I am really happy with the ranking. I did miss around 10 series I could have included lol 😂 it could have been 80 instead of 70. LPQ is great. I can’t wait for Legends and Legacies book 3. I need it
Thanks for so many recommendations. From the way you put drew hayes books, I think you will love beware of chicken, similar vibes. It is funny that the wordcount you have read in wandering inn is nearly equal to the number of words Robert Jordan wrote in wheel of time. And yet you have not read the first epic conclusion of storyline that have been developing for all these books.
you are welcome. I hope you find some great reads! 😂 yeah it’s a wild series. I can’t wait to keep going in Inn world. I have BOC on the list lol. I’ll get to it eventually
I'd love to hear what you have to say about the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant. Especially the first 2 series. Was a little disappointed that this series wasn't included in your 70 book rankings.
I'm too behind on new fantasy - and series in general - to get offended, and I can accept your takes on Wheel of Time and Lord of the Rings (god tier with Silmarillion writings for me) and Dresden (only read 2 books of it anyway, but I'm fairly smitten). What's harder to accept is you leaving off Dragonlance all together, 🧐 Besides your personality, I subscribed because you had nice things to say about it in a booktube sphere that mostly ignores or can't get into it. You may not have it as high as me, but I doubt you'd put it in meh. Anyway, I'm getting to these stories; meantime seeing how each booktuber feels differently about all these big names somehow remains interesting to me, despite my lack of experience.
Oh my goodness!!!! 🤦♂️I keep finding more and more series I could have included… I knew I had forgotten some but Dragonlance is a huge oversight on my behalf.
@@AndrewsWizardlyReads Hehe, it's alright, must be hard to catalogue this much. Did you forget His Dark Materials? Cause if not I recommend you read it and love it.
I've finished 57 (not including paranormal romance) but the sad thing is that I've listened to the first or second books of 42 more 🤦♀️ Thank you for illuminating my inefficiencies 😬🤣😳 First great or better series that I'm caught up on (complete or not) The Elder Empire Sandman Slim Dresden Seven Blades Children of Titan King's Dark Tidings The Bleed Dragonblood Asssassin Xanth Dragon Riders of Pern House of Blades Song of Wraiths and Ruin Fun video THANKS 🤓🙌🏼
First of all, great video! Thank you for a lot of effort. But one thing i do not understand is the love everyone has for Wheel of Time. I have read well over a thousand fantasy books of all kinds. And i couldn't get past the first 10 chapters of Wheel of Time. It is just so dreadfully boring. I could not care less for any character that shows up until then.
Thanks! I am glad you liked the video :) WoT was one of my first adult fantasy series. I started reading it around 20 years ago I think. So I am not unbaised lol. I can understand why people dont like it though.
70 series is amazing! I feel obligated to yell at you about Lord of the Rings lol This video made me finally add LPQ to my wish list, though, so thanks!
On the other hand I really don't understand how First Law could be anything else than meh. Glotka is brilliant there is some other cool characters but everything else is so convoluted
This was series so daughter of the empire can’t make the list because I haven’t finished the series yet. WoT as a series ranks lower than just Eye of the World
I did a vid on it, as the "protagonist" commits and atrocity and some folks stop there. If you decide to use it as a preview you might wish to stop when I pick up The Illearth War as spoilers abound then. @@AndrewsWizardlyReads

Mark and Joe are great writers. Glokta is amazing. I do agree the second trilogy wasn’t as good.
LOVE this video. So interesting to see all these compared to each other and to hear your ad hoc commentary. You have an incredible mind. -Palmer

Yessss LPQ is just a stunning masterpiece. It’s really breathtaking how well crafted it is.
I'm probably going to do a re-read this year. One of my all-time favourites.

Mega video! As someone who just started Morning Star, I'm glad you rated the first trilogy as brilliant. I got high hopes.
Thanks Ryan! I hope you enjoy the ride. It’s a wild one.
Great video Andrew! I'm surprised LPQ kept the top spot the whole way through. That's how I know I have to read it!
It’s just that good! 😊
Great video! I downloaded it and now I'm watching it on the train to Machu Picchu in Peru. I'll always remember this moment. Lol

Wow, DCC so high! I'm in book 2 now and enjoying it, although don't love the quest side story. Which are your favorites in the series?
Book 1 was exquisite. I really enjoyed books 1-5 almost universally. The side quest story wasn’t my favorite but I still enjoyed it.
That must have been hard to do but was a fun watch. Thank you
It was hard but I’m glad you enjoyed watching it :)

is edgar wright actually doing 'the running man' by richard 'stephen king' bachman?

So many series! I'm not even sure if I could remember all the ones I've read.
Oh I had to look back and already I could have added around 5 more I think
@@AndrewsWizardlyReads haha fair enough!
All those series above the WoT? Have we fallen so far? Be well, safe!
