10 years... oh no! I don't think mine have ever been changed and my house is from the 1980s! I've got some work to do this weekend! Better safe than sorry, I guess!
Not certain. Often companies change things like this over time. Great question though. I bought the kit with multiple adapters to just make sure it fit how it's supposed to fit.

Had mine about a month having the same issue my electrician told me to disconnect them then reconnect one at a time to see which one is causing the beeping. Out of the 4 I bought 2 seem to be faulty taking them back to Home Depot tomorrow, hope that's the problem, just a bad detector.
@@MCFIXIT I am sorry but you connected the smoke detector to an electrical circuit and the battery... You used both ways... I wanted to know if i can only use the battery?? Thank you!!
@@jorgeluna128 I appologize, I was thinking of another video on my channel - ua-cam.com/video/ol-T1usNPrQ/v-deo.html. Yes, you can but you will need a smoke dectector like the one in the video i just put the link to. Hope this helps!
There are many good brands out there. You do not have to change out with same brand, but something it helps if their connectors are the same. But you can see that even manufactures change their connectors out occasionally. I'd encourage not buying cheap ones though! Spend the extra money and get good ones!
Great guide to replacing a smoke detector!
Thanks! 👍
Thank you for making this video!
My pleasure!

Glad it was helpful!
Great video and good instructions on how to do this
Glad you enjoyed it
Fantastic video! Good instructions throughout the whole thing!
Glad it was helpful!
I like the new style where the battery is on the front facing down instead of having to take them down to change it out. Great instructions too!
PS Do you have a link to this style of smoke detectors?

Yes, this adds a layer of convenience. I'm shocked it's taken so long for the to make them like this!

I'd recommend changing them all out! Good luck on your project!
Is this smoke detector a bailable? The old smoke detector not the new one
Hello alexdalkilic544, I'm not sure I understand your questions. Can you please state it?
Why does it have a different adapter for the same brand?

Not sure why but when I replaced mine, All the other smoke detectors in the house didn't stop going off
Are they all hardwired? If so, once replaced with a good battery they are supposed to turn off.
@@MCFIXIT That is strange maybe it's the type of battery I used (And they are new)
Did you get the issue fixed and then stopping from going off?
@@MCFIXIT not yet. hopefully I may do it this weekend I'll keep you updated

Can I use only the battery if I do not have electrical cables where I am going tu put or install the smoke detector???
Yes. That’s what I did here. Make sure to change out your batteries as recommended!

Does it matter which brand you bought? You mentioned it being the same brand on the old and new one and yet it needed an adapter.

Why do they only last 10 years? That one seems to have been doing fine.
I'm guessing that how long they said the sensors would be good for. I honestly don't know. It's not something to really risk though.
