This movie wrecked me emotionally. Especially the where Littlefoot's mom died, and then he saw his own shadow and thought it was his family?? I CANNOT HANDLE IT 😭😭

No tears were ever drawn as a kid. Now I hear the 1st few notes of this score and its a waterfall. My favourite movie as a kid, followed closely by Charlotte's Web. Both tear-jerkers now that I have trouble bringing myself to watch because of the amount of tears they force out of me. I feel sadness at the end of films like Braveheart, Gladiator and 300. There is something very innocent, comforting and even spiritual in this music and in the story (I only saw the first movie though, don't know about the rest.)
One herd had only a single baby. Their LAST hope for the future. And they called him Littlefoot. All that remained of his herd was his mother grandmother and his grandfather. He knew them by sight, by scent and by their love. He knew they would be together always.
3:40 was always my favorite part of the song. It represented that feeling of curiosity and naivety that we all felt as a child at some point. Plus, Ducky's cute awe and expression when she sees the butterfly always gives me a chuckle. Rest in peace, Judith Barsi.

Yes! Someone who gets it! That's exactly how James Horner's music does to me. I can tell the movie by what plays. That's the subtlety of emotions, right there. 7:25 Little foot falls asleep on his mom's back.

One of the greatest movie of all time, This movie has so much emotions in it and reflects on some very valuable points in life, such as loss, fear of the unknown, doubht, hapiness and friendship; family... The soundtrack brings tears to my eyes and this movie will forever be in my heart. Cant wait to watch this movie with my future children.
This musical piece is one of my earliest memory, back when i was 3-4 years old, it's clearer than anything from back then. Thank you Mr. Horner and godspeed.
Woke up with this music in my head. It was in my dreams, shortly before waking. I knew where it was from. Saw The Land Before Time, when it first came out in theatres. I was 5. This music is more than just the soundtrack to a movie. It's part of The Soundtrack of My Life; and what an adventure it's been so far... Thank you, James Horner.

Goodbye James Horner. You have made some of the most beautiful music I have ever heard. You have always been one of my favorite composers. Your music has moved me to tears and filled my heart with joy. Peace be with you now and THANKS FOR ALL THE MUSIC!

+Jekkize It's amazing how, by itself, the soundtrack captures basically the whole narrative of the movie, and in a way that is so moving. Truly, James Horner was an exceptional talent.
This entire soundtrack was just phenomenal. It was better than it had any right to be. Arguably James Horner’s masterpiece. Teamed up with Don Bluth it was a match made in heaven. The sequence where Little Foots mother fights off the T-Rex is so powerful. You can really tell that the thematic elements of the story really inspired James Horner. Learning how to cope with the loss of a mother is the heart of the story. It’s helped many kids who’ve had to go on that journey.
I watched this movie tons of times when I was a kid, and I never cried. Recently, I remembered its existence and decided to watch it again for a bit of a nostalgia shot. I don't think I ever cried so much in front of a cartoon. The mother's death is just soul-crushing and the music is surely a masterpiece. Are all kids emotionless, I wonder...

Lost my mum as a young kid this film helped me understand things I didn't realise at the time... This music is epic probably the best animated film ever
I havent heard this since I was about 7 jesus brings me back so many memories I remember I watched this with my mum whilst she's was battling cancer I am so glad she's still with me
I watched this movie after 10+ years finally and I enjoyed it and cried, I didn’t want to feel old but I’m glad this movie taught me so much in the long run , I’m 23
I heard right now and wow... I have a feeling mix between crying and power emotion... so beautiful and sublime. Miss this phantastic drawings, miss my childhood, miss this values nowadays... One of the best and sad as well, films I have ever watched... we have to maintain this masterpieces for the next generations :___D
Hearing this song again after 20 years literally made the space between my temples feel like they were going to explode with nostalgia and joy. I literally have tears in my eyes. It's amazing feeling an emotion you haven't felt since you were 6 years old.
6:15-6:40 really got me. I'm an 18 year old boy. A young man reduced to tears because I vividly remember watching this on my living room floor when I was 4 years old. Simpler times...
Wow! I am 18 as well and I just loved that part, it is the only part I listen to, it is so sad, my sister put this movie on a few weeks ago and had completely forgotten about it, and I was so sad the whole movie and that part of the song is incredible!
This brings back memories. It's like I'm eight years old again. It's the early 90s, we're on summer holidays and my sister (age six) would have just had an argument about who gets control over the TV remote. We would have compromised and decided to put on a movie that we both enjoy. So we pop up it in the VHS player and watch Land Before Time for the upteenth time - at this point, both of us can probably quote most of the movie verbatim. I'm now 37 and have a career as an archaeologist (not a paleontologist, but that would have been fitting for this comment!). My sister is 35, working as a nurse, and is married with a daughter on the way, who, I hope, will have a chance to see this movie at some point in the next few years. Time flies. On another note, I was just listening to some Dvorak and heard a few familiar musical phrases. Easy to see where Horner might have gotten some of his inspiration (it was one of the Slavonic Dances that set off my memory).
This sad, emotional and beautiful movie learned me something very important in my life: even if we are all different, even if we live in a world where racism, prejudice, violence, injustice and horrors exist, we must put aside prejudice and learn to move forward together and show solidarity for everyone. Because in the end, the great cycle of life will end for all of us and we should evolve to be able to live together in the Great Valley. Utopia unfortunately cannot exist, but to travel our long years while having done the possible for a better world should be the motor of each one. That’s what this film taught me about life from an early age.
Narrator: Once upon this same earth, beneath this same sun, long before you, before the ape and the elephant, as well; before the wolf, the bison, the whale, before the mammoth and the mastodon, in the time of the dinosaurs. Now the dinosaurs were of two kinds. Some had flat teeth, and ate the leaves of trees, and some had sharp teeth for eating meat, and they preyed upon the leaf-eaters. Then it happened that the trees began to die. The mighty beasts who appeared to rule the earth, were, in truth, ruled by the leaf. Desperate for food, some of the dinosaur herds struck out to the west, in search of the Great Valley, a land still lush and green. It was a journey toward life.
I feel lucky to see this film in 1988, this movie didnt move me till i was an adult. After i had my kids i get very emotional at the birth of little foot. It reminds me of my kids first breath and crying. Holding new life that is my responsibility to raise nurture and be the best dad i can be.
This was the first movie I was obsessed with as a child. Born 1 month before it's release in the UK and watched it many times between ages 3-9ish. Now, nearly 25 years later and not seeing it for that duration, I realise how special it is and how much it means to me. Listening to this beautiful piece gave rise to a wave of emotion and vaguely flickered bits of the scene in my mind. If this is the last thing I hear as an old man, in those moments before I pass, I will die smiling with a tear in my eye.
Doesn't matter how old I get. Every time I get to the scene where Littlefoot hatches, I cry. I just cry. His momma loved him SO MUCH and i just 😭😢 wugheughwuujgjeuuugh
I just had a sudden urge to hear the soundtrack of this movie, haven't heard this stuff in over 15 years. I'd be lying if I said it didn't make me well up with tears of childhood nostalgia. James Horner is truly amazing.
I'm going to start balling in a few minutes. I love listening to to this music. It makes me cry tears of happiness every time. Like some kind of therapy. This music is my favorite from any childhood movie :)
It never fails to amaze me how much you can recognize a tune that you haven't heard since early childhood. I couldn't have sung any of these tunes if asked, but each note brings back so many memories. I really need to watch this film again!!
James Horner was the part of the Holy Trinity of "Js" to me at least. They are Jerry Goldsmith, John Williams and James Horner....Sadly only John Williams is still alive of the three. Jerry Goldsmith lost his battle to cancer over 10 years ago. And James Horner as we already know has left us as well.
This movie wrecked me emotionally. Especially the where Littlefoot's mom died, and then he saw his own shadow and thought it was his family?? I CANNOT HANDLE IT 😭😭

I havent heard this since I was about 7 jesus brings me back so many memories I remember I watched this with my mum whilst she's was battling cancer I am so glad she's still with me
RIP to the great James Horner.
+Justin H He died in a plane crash last year.
He never dies, as long as his music exists
@@roydamanna it will last, guy left a treasure trove behind
In the end it was his own ambition that killed him he was an inexperienced pilot with hubris he couldn't land properly then crash
Seriously nothing like a James Horner french horn oh my god
Hence the name HORNER, no?
oh yes.
Jerry Goldsmith....?
He really wrote a mean violin as well. Actually, the best.
Words cannot begin to describe how beautiful this is. Truly, just like the movie, this is a masterpiece by itself.
Such an unforgettable score. Delicate, timeless, just a little bit painful. He had the magic touch.
Its bin over 30 years and still get goosebumps 😃😃
I refuse to believe there are 13 other Land Before Time movies. There is only one and it was perfect
I watched this movie after 10+ years finally and I enjoyed it and cried, I didn’t want to feel old but I’m glad this movie taught me so much in the long run , I’m 23
Happy 30th Anniversary The Land Before Time, you're my childhood forever.
Miss you, James Horner!
+Michael Greco I'm also 18 and saw this movie for the first time about a month ago. Haha.
But yeah. This movie's music is amazing.
I love James Horner. He's a genius in musical composing.
06:15 No matter what you're going through... when this part hits you... there is always hope!
I’m gonna take a wild guess from memory, but did James earl Jones narrate this??

I feel lucky to see this film in 1988, this movie didnt move me till i was an adult. After i had my kids i get very emotional at the birth of little foot. It reminds me of my kids first breath and crying. Holding new life that is my responsibility to raise nurture and be the best dad i can be.
This song is as good as it is unappreciated. 6:13 is so good. worst could only scratch the surface of this beauty
Right So much emotion in this part
This was the first movie I was obsessed with as a child. Born 1 month before it's release in the UK and watched it many times between ages 3-9ish. Now, nearly 25 years later and not seeing it for that duration, I realise how special it is and how much it means to me. Listening to this beautiful piece gave rise to a wave of emotion and vaguely flickered bits of the scene in my mind.
If this is the last thing I hear as an old man, in those moments before I pass, I will die smiling with a tear in my eye.
Now THESE were soundtracks!!!
RIP and thank you for the beautiful music
Doesn't matter how old I get. Every time I get to the scene where Littlefoot hatches, I cry. I just cry. His momma loved him SO MUCH and i just 😭😢 wugheughwuujgjeuuugh
Yes, and me, my mom to.. absolutely unique and beautiful movie
I watched this movie so much as a kid. Listening to these soundtracks makes me so emotional

OMG!! MAKES me ball my out!
I miss when movies gave you an encounter with beauty and made you feel inspired and want to be a better person. Even these children's movies.
I just had a sudden urge to hear the soundtrack of this movie, haven't heard this stuff in over 15 years. I'd be lying if I said it didn't make me well up with tears of childhood nostalgia. James Horner is truly amazing.
i remember watching this movie over and over, never getting tired of it
I will never forget this movie
I'm going to start balling in a few minutes. I love listening to to this music. It makes me cry tears of happiness every time. Like some kind of therapy. This music is my favorite from any childhood movie :)
this is such a beautiful soundtrack, a masterpiece!
It never fails to amaze me how much you can recognize a tune that you haven't heard since early childhood. I couldn't have sung any of these tunes if asked, but each note brings back so many memories. I really need to watch this film again!!
This film sparked my lifetime fascination with dinosaurs. 👌🏻🎶❤️👍🏻🦕🦖
Our* lifetime fascination
James Horner was the part of the Holy Trinity of "Js" to me at least. They are Jerry Goldsmith, John Williams and James Horner....Sadly only John Williams is still alive of the three. Jerry Goldsmith lost his battle to cancer over 10 years ago. And James Horner as we already know has left us as well.
cripplehawk you forgot about John Barry his music is timeless and perfect in many ways
It came as a shock to me and my family when we learned that he died in a plane crash :(
Too bad Joh Williams never got to work with John Williams.

Too powerful. My inner child is weeping
I'll admit one thing, James Horner's music is SO VERY RELAXING.
The music is a character on its own right. Dang Horner, just spectacular.
