Ten years ago, Plod were using Terrorist, ASBO, Public Order etc legislation to arrest and prevent people who filmed them, their cars and their stations because they knew the power of the camera and they feared it. Auditing Police and Cop Watching and the debacle of seeing cops perjur themselves in court and convict themselves in the Court of Public Opinion and on social media has largely stopped them in their tracks. However certain Police forces tried and are still trying to make the filming of 'Emergency Workers' into a crime, in the hope that MPs will one day vote to disallow the filming of nurses or firemen in their job and they will automatically and quietly receive shade at the same time. They want this because Police in the UK cannot ever be trusted, they are out of control, unaccountable, corrupt and criminal and do not want their activities exposed. Recent Plod shenanigans in Scotland and London have confirmed this. They are the largest. most heavily armed and most powerful street gang in the country and have lost the trust and faith of whole generations and swathes of the populace, especially after their actions during Covid. I do not get concerned when an Ambulance or Fire Engine turns up in my street. When I see a Plod car I reach for my camera. ALWAYS film Police. NEVER trust Police. Never talk to Police.

its unbelievable that i was vetted more for working at a greyhound track (because i worked in the kennels so they checked we had no convictions for animal cruelty ect) than a police officer is subject too!! SICKENING!!!!!!
That really is unbelievable.....because it's simply not true. Why you may have been vetted, so are police officers. The vetting process can only tell you something about a person's past. It is not a mystic megg process that can predict a person's thoughts, beliefs of future decisions.
The Police can control what they print. 4 gang rapists rape a woman one escapes home to Romania. 12 months until the other 3 were sentenced and the story of the escaped 4th attacker entered the media system. I am an ex shoplifter. Hardly the worst crime, but a crime nonetheless. I have been beaten up many times by police officers, always by more than one of them. I applied to join the Scottish Police Service as a 'Special Constable' not long after leaving the RAF after 19 years. I worked as volunteer with drug addicts for years, at risk children, was a Samaritan (for 10 years) and was rejected. The reason? Becuase I was 'charged' as a 17 year old recuruit for having a shirt not up to inspection standard during an inspection. I had to do 3 days 'jankers' working in the mess kitchen. It's hardly a massive breach of military law. I left with Good Conduct and Long Service medal too! This was a real blow as it was something I really wanted to after years serving my community and with an eye on possibly joining the police as a regular officer after getting help with rhe maths aspect of the entry test. Alas, it was not to be. I find this recent exposure of poor vetting for the recular police quite eye openning!
Things like this honestly make me curse having been born. Women like myself are constantly seen as objects wherever you go - even our police force, and so no one really cares and it will never stop. I was spiked and seriously sexually assaulted two years ago and I will take it to the grave with me because in too many corners there is another man like him - if not literally doing what he did, making jokes about it and undermining the trauma and devastation objectification and sexual assault has on the victim’s life. I don’t understand why no one can see how bad it is, and I don’t understand why enough care or affection can’t be felt for women through our mothers, aunties, and sisters that all of this can’t just stop.
I'm sorry you went through all that 😔. I hope evil finds the man that hurt you and deals with him in the most horrible way. I have daughters and I pray to God every night that they will be safe and ok in this corrupted world . I pray your trauma and pain is heeled 🙏🏾.
@Fireflies136, that is truly gutting. No wonder women are angry ... predatory behaviour by men is prevalent throughout society and we need the people we honour and privilege to maintain the law to actively assert proper moral principles ... those gifted with supervisory, managerial and especially higher positions of authority need to heed those within the ranks who are brave enough to speak up; and they have to act on it root & branch. Then, and only then, will they be serving the community.
I’m a man and to be honest I really wish that I wasn’t or that I wasn’t born at all, I’m sorry for what happened to you, hopefully this year will start the end and hopefully discontent continues escalating across the world, things have moved forward as can be seen in places like Iran with their protests but still these things will never end because most men seem to be mentally/genetically entwined with predatory actions.

She was manipulated by her superior officer and found herself in a relationship with him only to be ostracized by him and others of higher rank when she tried to get out of the entanglement. She could of course taken the route of making her plight known and maybe even had HIM exposed but she did not want that darkness in her life and decided to just leave the force without saying anything to anyone but close family. She was very young and her first career choice was that of being a policewoman, he changed all that!
Very good. Yes. I could witness someone breaking into a car or house, and I wouldn't report it. They would probably accuse me of 'being mean' about the person who was doing it!
Before I became self-employed I worked in a number of shop and office jobs. I always remember the shop job. When the 2nd in charge of the company came in he always bothered me. Frankly for all the use they are I think the vast majority of the police could be scrapped and it wouldn't make any difference to crime. There's plenty of information online about criminal police activity, including sexual assault, assault, larceny, fraud, disorderly conduct, drink driving, drug dealing, damage to property and burglary.
Now we need an equally in-depth analysis of the whole justice system. Lawyers, Prosecutors, Magistrates, Judges et al. This system is now a money-based system. I was a special in the Met from 88 to 94 I had a great time. I never had any problems and i saw very few problems. (I'm a female). The trouble was there were too few Londoners and increasing number of clueless graduates who were useless at dealing with people. When I was very young if you wanted to join the police force they looked into your background in every area where you had lived and interviewed neighbours. I remember people waiting ages to get invited for a preliminary interview and that was before completing all the forms.
Anyone with the desire to police folk for a career are usually wrong people for the job. Communities mostly police themselves and only reach out for ‘State’ intervention in extreme need. Police recruitment should be like jury service, a call from the community for good people to serve. We need to re-invent the system back to Sir Robert Peels ideal for communities today.
In the met, only 22% of calls are crime related. The rest is civil, medical, mental health and social work stuff. The reality is that communities don't care and don't look after themselves, hence why so much of police work doesn't even relate to crime anymore. Given that modern society isn't even inclined to look out for its law-abiding citizens, I dread to think how it would handle actual criminals on its own without a full-time police service.
The whole point of the bad apple metaphor is that if you don't remove the rotten apple from the barrel all the other apples will rot as well. Leaving these officers in place not only allows them to carry on with their misconduct but it drags others into that conduct too. This is not an urgent issue, this is an emergency!
Don’t be surprised how long it’s going to take to get rid of the bad apples they have a very good union to protect them, so my advice is Don’t hold your breath.

Well said. The black community were ignored for literally years - in regards to this issue. Now whites are going through just a tiny bit of what black people have had to suffer for so long.
@Betty-Boo ....The ''black community'' ? There is no black community in the UK. It was British Caribbeans who complained about the corrupt policing system. We all know the policing system in the UK is corrupt to the core and the fact that a police officer killed Stacy Abrams was too much for some people. The sad thing is when it effects people more, more will care. But because the Caribbean communities where proportionally policed in some places in London metropolitan area most people didn’t care much directly because it didn’t effect. Police officers often don’t get fired because that assist and help each other. They often get transplanted to other police jobs that more behind the scenes.
I read somewhere many officers who join the force later in life do so after realising they have narcissistic tendencies and cant hold down normal jobs ot relationships. So either join the milatary or the police where they can legitimately boss people around and be aggressive. Most younger recruits are academically weak and opt to do public services at college, which prepares them to join the force.

I had a car crash, police came from different county and were laughing at the accent of the person trying to help right my car. Totally unprofessional
More than 1,000 police officers and staff accused of domestic abuse are still serving in law enforcement, new figures show.
Eight out of 10 kept their jobs after the allegations were made, with a small fraction being disciplined or dismissed.
What about drug abuse
Accused isn't the same as proven guilty. No one should lose their job over allegations. That's not criminal justice, that's mob justice.
@@daveseemerollin6357 They most certainly shouldn't be working till they have been proven guilty. And then they should be sacked, obviously.
@@hansiesma16 People working in education, health and social services don't get to carry on in their usual job while an accusation of serious misconduct is being investigated. They may be sidelined to desk work with no contact with the public.
@@hansiesma16 It's not black and white. It's far too easy to make baseless accusations and ruin someone's livelihood as a result.
Innocent until proven guilty, unless there is sufficient evidence to assume that person is a risk to the public, so internal investigations can begin.
I do not, and have not worked for the Police, but things should be dealt with logically and not emotionally.
Using predators to hunt predators. Should work in theory, right?
Something must be Done justice must be served to shed light on the dark inner workings of the force..
Well said far to much misconduct around here
Back in the early 90's there was a great British TV show called Between The Lines. It dealt with CIB, the department in the police that investigates the police. All the stuff that was mentioned here was on full display back then in this excellent drama. And that was 30 years ago.
I always think the first series better than Line of Duty
Sometimes the police and the “people that they chase” are all of the same social class, the same behaviour and the same ethics ( just as in other professions ).
Funny you say that when the Eton type and the evil elites are exclusively upper class. They are the worst out of everyone
@@shadychris3402 I guess you are one of the many people on the Internet that automatically assume that all the “elites” are shady. Certainly, some are, but you benefit from the “elites” who have often gone to universities and provide important functions to society. I suspect that you do not have much of a formal education ( that is not something to be ashamed of because it is not always necessary or needed in our world ).
@@richardsimms251 No No. I'm very educated. You are deluded and come from a bubble. Elitists only seek to benefit themselves and actually harm the public. The government here has been the cause of death of 10,000s of innocents around the world. They pit the poor against each other. They kill you through poverty and starvation. Just because they havent got a gun in your face doesn't mean those people aren't actively working against your interests and view you as a peasant a sub human and in fact detriment your health. You are beyond deluded if you believe elitist actions benefit the most hard done by in society. You are from a rich background evidently or at least middle class and haven't seen enough of the world to know the truth

This has been obvious for years and years. The police need to be reminded they are civil servants!
very good interview Ben well said.
I was a tourist and a policeman yelled at me and I was afraid. I hadn’t done anything wrong. Seemed to be taking his frustration out on me. I’m not going back to London. They say the French are rude. I’ve had zero problems in France. I treat them with respect and they treated me fine. Stereotypes. Wrong.
that has reversed in my lifetime, French police used to be scary and British "bobbies" were approachable, now it's the opposite
Gangsters in uniform .To be avoided at all costs .
We will learn from our mistakes. 🤣
Police with criminal convictions? For sexual assault? Wtf is this?
Abuse of power
The sad thing is that it takes a murder or two before anyone says " terrible situation, shouldn't have happened in the first place"
O my goodness is 2022 and we are still dealing with this monsters.
My ex-girlfriend once ordered pepper spray on the net as she felt unsafe at night walking home, she was visited by a police constable advising her what she had purchased was illegal, the constable then asked her contact number as the "case" was going to be investigated, the following day the same constable asked her to meet to discuss her case over a coffee which she refused, she was then pestered by numerous text / phone calls asking her for a date. The calls only stopped when she made an official complaint at the police station.
Hmmm hmmm & hmmmm
Disgusting behaviour of the very people you depand to protect you. And I bet they still don't care.
This has always been the way
. Attacking Woke behaviour and good community work . But filling the ranks with dirty gits
Anyone who actually wants to join the police is a highly suspect character in my view.
If you have a criminal record YOU SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO JOIN THE POLICE FORCE SIMPLE
Like most public services, the problem is the abuse from above. If government was rewarding good service instead of brow-beating and slashing pay and conditions, things would not be on the slide.
Agree completely
Any mention of the multiple Pakistani men who enrolled in the police only to be charged for crimes against children?
This report might as well just be called
"ACAB"
Never answer any Question of Police and always record any interaction for the safty !!
It's like everything else. Was used to be considered bad is now considered good. What used to be considered good is now bad. Everything is topsy turvy.
