I don't know if he "knows" all these riffs but he chooses legit classics in all his videos. He knows the influential and noteworthy stuff in all genres. But yea, getting all these recorded in such good quality is an achievement in itself 😆
absolutely love the stooges i think both ron asheton and james williamson are some of the most underrated guitarists especially ron he just had such a badass sound and i love how you are playing those amazing riffs
Totally agree. Both Asheton and Williamson created legendary riffs, all of them very personal in their style but also aligned to the Stooges sound. Many of us would kill to be the authors of only of these riffs Johnny Marr himself names "Gimme danger" and "Shake appeal" between the top songs he would have liked to compose ("Waterloo sunset" is one of them too)
To me, Ron Asheton is just as important as Hendrix when it comes to people who totally changed the guitar. The primal raw of his riffs and the absolutely gut wrenching free form noodling, plus that tone! Still the best fuzz tone ever (well, that and William Reid’s)! James Williamson is also in there with a shout. I mean a band with two dudes that totally changed the conception of a rock n roll guitar players. It’s insane to look back on.
Amazing how The Stooges deliver such powerful riffs in the early stages of rock music and thanks to Bloxsy and modern technology we can enjoy them like never before. Nice work man!
They’re the only band I can think of who had two groundbreaking genius guitarists who also had completely different styles of playing. (Plus Ron Asheton was also a monster bass player when James Williamson took over guitar - a super talented band all around)
Funhouse is one of the greatest records ever, I’ve listened to that album like a thousand times, every song is a banger, the rawness and dirtiness of the whole album plus a few songs inspired by the free jazz of Coltrane creates such a unique and dark atmosphere few albums have, for me, The Stooges were the first true punk group, or at least they were really close to it, I like to think they pioneered it while the Ramones perfected it
Great vid as always! Stooges were such an important discovery for me. I remember buying Raw Power on CD at the record store, going outside and putting it in my car stereo. After the first couple chords in Search and Destroy, I was hooked.
Brilliant, I cant believe I didn't think James Williamson played with a capo! I've been trying to figure out Penetration and Need Somebody since I was a teenager, and just never could. Thank you Bloxsy! You nailed this.
over half of the raw power tracklist was featured in this video. while the entire band is this way, this video goes to show how infinitely packed with good riffs this band was.
Yesss, so glad you made this video! James Williamson is one of my favorites. Before I played guitar I would listen to his isolated S&D tracks and marvel. Ron was a god too, soulfully crushing bends on Dirt yet knew when to just groove like on Loose.
The stooges changed my life... When I was in my early teens . Then later on seeing Radio Birdman playing tv eye live in the 80s... Then actually going to two destroy all monsters gigs Two nights in a row in the late 90s and a few Dark Carnival concerts " st Valentine massacre" gigs ... Here in Oz have been highlights... Ron Ashton is a major hero so thanks mate
These proto grunge songs are pretty heavy. 😉. Lol. Amazing video! You don't just play the riffs you REALLY capture the tone as well which is what makes ALL your videos S tier. ☺. Thanks for posting.
This is a perfect demonstration of how to make memorable riffs out of very simple harmonic materials using phrasing, repetition and syncopation. I would like to have heard '1969' and 'No Fun' from the first album, but otherwise this is a great introductory selection. Another video drawing on the songs from the period after 'Funhouse', which are a little more sophisticated, would be great.
This was an awesome set! #10 the Stooges invent punk rock circa 1969 #8 the Stooges invent hardcore punk, before practically anyone else gets around to playing punk rock! Maybe do some NY Dolls riffs at some point? MC5?
No "Gimme Danger", no Johnny Marr. James Williamson was/is one of the all-time great guitarists, yet he never gets acknowledged. The same goes for Ron Asheton. The Stooges still remain ahead of their time.
Stooges é da hora. Sinceramente eu não conhecia essa banda. Só ouvi falar do Igg Pop. Mas depois que ouvi você tocando tô correndo pra conhecer esses caras aqui na net. Show ouvir você tocando!🤩👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
@@bloxsy_ I don´t know how you nail every tone you do. Because you cover a lot of genres and nail all the tones on spot, that is amazing... Keep it up.
So for 1970 I watched live clips on UA-cam of how Ron was playing it with the Stooges. And his fingers were doing roughly this. To be fair I would have played differently if I hadn’t seen him do it it like that.
Fantastic video as always Bloxsy. I’m just curious, what’s your favourite Stooges album? I like the first 3 and Ready to Die, but Raw Power is probably my favourite album of them all.
Thanks you very much. For me it's probably Raw Power with Funhouse a close second. Also really like the album Kill City with James Williamson and Iggy Pop.

Never ceases to amaze how Rock evolved from "I Want To Hold Your Hand" to "I Wanna Be Your Dog" in less than 5 years.
Less than 6 years
That’s good. Funny.
well I guess it's good to cut to the chase.....
The Beatles evolved from "I Want To Hold Your Hand" to "Tomorrow Never Knows" in less than 3 years.

Am I the only one who realized Bloxsy knows, like, a million riffs?

Yeah, especially for that 1980s riffs video.

SO glad to see this recommended to me!!!
Also, the "Penetration" riff is pure gold!
Dang, I never realized how cool the Stooges riffs are
Me neither, Preeti, and I've been listening to Iggy and the gang since I was 14 - I'm now 47 😂.
Raw Power is like a punk doors album. So good
Seriously?

“Gimmie Danger”gets in your head like a Christmas carol. GJ. Enjoyed. 👍
My favorite band as a kid, I Wanna Be Your Dog is the very first song i learned on guitar !
Excellent stuff, as ever. Nice selection of Williamson’s riffs in there too; which is always great to see.
I'm a street-walking cheetah with a heart full of napalm!
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!!
Particularly for adding 'I Need Somebody'!

I love the Stooges, you should definitely do top ten riffs from The Band!
I think it’s pretty cool that you did a 10 stooges riffs video without using 1969 or No Fun. Most of these were from Fun House or Raw Power.
Another classic selection good sir 👌
o vídeo que eu estava esperando! Obrigado Bloxsy!

Please do a Screaming Trees Riffs video.

@@AndrewWav Right, my favorite song from Fun House 🤌
these videos are extremely helpful in learning these riffs
They are? That's nice to know.
I always respected how much crunch Ron could squeeze out of a single coil pickup in the early days.
Had the pleasure of meeting Ron (and Scott and Iggy) 15 or so years ago. Ron was a nice a a fellow as his riffs are fking badass.
