The pixies are really helping me learn the bass, their basslines are so catchy and easy to learn which makes me feel really accomplished when I learn them
@@atj22 My daughter is learning the bass and is a 12 year old Smith's fan. This charming man is the one she's trying at the moment. I started playing years ago but started with 3 note basic songs so my friend wouldn't get bored of me messing up the complex bass lines. Andy Rourke is a fantastic bass player I'm lucky to have seen them play live back in 1985. Good luck on your learning.
"where is my mind" has a nice sounding guitar riff and "debaser" just reminds me of playing skate 3 on the 360, the good times I had playing that game. Those are my 2 favourites
Been a Pixies listener for a long time and now trying playing a bass and seeing you playing the guitars makes a whole new sense to me as an enjoyer of their music. With few chords being so expressive if I can say. I love the video, thanks.
It's amazing how many of these are just Dick Dale or Ventures riffs. Like, The Pixies are just a surf band, but without the reverb and with more extreme dynamics. But that's also what makes them so awesome. Everything is so familiar, but not.
Really enjoyed that 👍 great band and well covered mate! Tone was spot on too. Monkey gone to heaven is my personal fav, but all great songs by a awesome band. Good work buddy cheers
First time I find something I can play better than you, sorry but Hey was the first song I leart in guitar and I've been playing it for almost 15 years.
You're a legend for including Make Believe. Even their b sides are better than other bands best songs imo. I wish David would sing more as he actually has a great voice but I guess its probably hard to sing and drum.
I heard them live in their heyday at Newcastle Mayfair and there goes your man sound awesome so thanks for the riffs I will be coping you on this one, good job Bloxsy!
I’ve had around 30 guitars in my life. Some very expensive. Some middle of the road. I’m 40 now and have 1 guitar left. The Yamaha Pacifica my mum an dad bought me when I was 14. It’s not hot a blemish in it. I love the feel of it. And it works really well. I sometimes get it out just to give it a nice polish haha
Love this channel and love that you've done my fave band! Only slight criticism is that you played the Velouria riff without any backing whereas the other tracks mostly had the bass. That probz would've improved it. Anyway love it mang. You nailed Hey.
True. It's hard to sum them up with just playing a couple of guitars here. Each member has their own unique way of playing that fits together brilliantly. You don't get that with most bands.
The initial riff of where is my mind always gives me goosebumps
Truly perfection through simplicity
Why

And the uuhhh uuhhh makes it even better

I’m about to begin my first lessons, pumped to learn these as well as some of the classic Smiths bass lines

You really nailed Velouria. Perfect sound, tone and distortion. You really nailed them all.
Thank you!
Been going through a pixies phase this month, timing of this upload was perfect 😭
Same here! Fell in love with Doolittle and Bossanova the last few weeks.
Same
OMG ME TOO
@@scotia7326 You will blow your mind when you listen to Surfer Rosa
Once you go Pixies, you never go back
That second guitar riff in Monkey Gone To Heaven is just.... perfection
Sounds dumb but there's such a complex simplicity to their riffs, they're outstanding.
I know what you mean.
i hear ya. not the hardest chords/shapes but santiago has an ear for music, similar to kurt.
"where is my mind" has a nice sounding guitar riff and "debaser" just reminds me of playing skate 3 on the 360, the good times I had playing that game. Those are my 2 favourites
I love it when people remember that pixies have more than one banger
You just reminded me how much I love these guys! Gotta go listen to em now. Awesome video!!
Thanks!
Honestly, What Goes Boom sounds like it could be a 90's thrash riff
speeding up to 1.5x speed I definitely see it
The outro to No.13 baby puts me in a trance I can’t explain
I'm a huge pixies fan and always wanted you to do one of these for them, so when I saw this in my recommended today I jumped with excitement!! 😝
While watching I was just thinking "He HAS to include 'Hey'"... Gave a like in the end.

Its amazing how little changes and great ideas can create something completly new
You can throw in some Iggy too
Awesome job, the Pixies had so many incredible songs in such a short span. Amazing playing man, love it so much!
Thanks man, I appreciate it.
The Pixies are just so fucking good.
Good stuff!
If you do another Pixies video, it would be cool to hear your takes on "Down to the Well", "Caribou", "No. 13 Baby", and "Alec Eiffel".
Thank you for making this video. Pixies is one of the greatest bands of all time
Did anybody else just start going "ooo ooo" when the 'Where Is My Mind" riff played

Great playing. Hands down, the two biggest influences on me as a musician are Pixies and Nirvana, in no particular order.
How the fuck is U-mass not on there?
I saw the pixies live a few days ago and I never realised how amazing there guitar was tbh it was so amazing
I saw them live Aug 2023 in nyc pier 17 they were great

Pixies are sooo great, i just learned hey from you, could play the lead but not franks part lmao!
Thanks you for Pixies
Velouria is heavy as fuck
The whole of Come On Pilgrim could've been in here.
1:57 Dude, I played that next the isolated tracks and it felt like hearing double
As a life long Pixies fan this is amazing, the sound is spot on. You make it look easy.
Think this is the 3rd time I’ve watched this.😊

I must be old The pixies I know was a female group from the late 50s . I didn't even know that some other band was the pixies.
These sound great . Congrats on the fine playing ! I need to get the TABs for these songs and learn them.
Great stuff! Are you using coil splits on Hey?
Thanks! Yeah I'm using a coil split.
Now I know why nobody has ever said to me, You've gotta discover the pixies!
honestly, i love the guitar riff to hey a lot, cuz it sounds so out of place. it almost sounds like a pavement riff, something off of crooked rain
I was talking to peachy peach about kissy kiss… she said you were awesome!👏 😊
New guitar
Please do U2
Man, please, i have a dream, i wish to see you make a cover of my song, fluoxetina, listen...
still cool more than 30 years after. old russian pixies' fan.
Not the biggest PIxies fan, but the Pacifica on the thumbnail gets a click for me

Nice! I also like "Mr. Grieves" a lot.
Dig for fire is their best song, riff and thus songwriting. Sad it has been left out.
The rhythm guitar parts are as awesome in my opinion
The only problem here is that I feel you missed the rest of the catalogue
My most favor song of pixies band - monkey gone..
Hello, what is the model of your guitar? It's beautiful :3
I think it's a Yamaha Pacifica and an Epiphone SG. I bought the same SG because of this channel. Such a nice guitar for the money.
Yep it's a Yamaha Pacifica and an Epiphone Sg. I fancied something different.
Top 20 pixies riffs:
#1-20= Velouria

I always liked the outro to No. 13 Baby. 🙂
No Wave Of Mutilation. Disliked, unsubscribbed, letterbomb sent.
Sent it to Memphis?
Que bella Pacifica amigo
Thought you were gonna put "rock me Joe" Part 😣
Was hoping I Bleed would make the cut
Hey Bloxsy, if you don’t mind, can you do a guitar riff on Fleetwood Mac or Rush or any kind of classic rock artists if you can?
Yeah I don't know much of those artists but I need to do some more classic rock at some point
