I play bass and cannot sing and play, I sang all of my life, my inspiration was Fred Hammond, I was amazed at his ability to lead the song, play bass and direct the band at the same time. I had always want to play for the Hawkins family and when Edwin came with Kevin Bond play keys I knew I did have a chance to play for them . But like you said it’s about timing. I auditioned and when I played Kevin stopped playing turn and look at me and said if I didn’t know Joel was in Oakland I swear he was playing. Last summer, I took a tearful drive back to Arkansas from ATL after one of these kinds of moments following an industry talent show. It was an altogether strangely nuanced ordeal, but after much growth this year, I spiritually understand EXACTLY why it happened. It had to! This video affirms so much for me. Man!!! Ironically this has encouraged me more than anything other than the Holy Ghost and my mom… I can definitely relate I’ve crashed and burned a few times (not many but) and I cried and had that throw up feeling 🤢🤢🤢 but it made me a better musician and most of all a better person… ✊🏾💙
David had a heart after God because he was repentant and longed to please him. Sometimes I hear people say this to gloss over their sins. We can’t be shady AND have a clean heart. For what is in the heart comes forth.... Matthew 15:19 evil thought, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts , false witness, blasphemies...... I’m learning that like Joseph, there sometimes is a period of time between the dream and the fruition of it. And sometimes the outcome does not look exactly like the dream but all things are to accomplish the plan of God so that he is lifted up. Our gifts , skills, intellect are all given and brought to pass by the Holy Spirit! We can’t even come to faith without him. How amazing is that!!
