I’m certainly not important, but my opinion is this… I can’t speak for anyone else, but at 12 years old, I was struggling to find my place in life. Grew up in church as a PK. After a while, the sermons ran together, and I was no longer engaged. Gospel music was just starting to be dry, and hiphop was all I could really identify with. Someone played the Go and Tell somebody album for me, and my entire life changed. All of the sudden, the word of God came alive for me. I heard it in a way that was fresh and relatable. Nothing else was getting in at the time. I carried that cassette tape around for weeks. Every album y’all dropped after that, helped shape me as a Christian. As a man of God. You had us singing the word of God. Whole entire scriptures. That is POWERFUL! Fast forward 35 years, my teens have discovered y’all and sing the words to your songs. Sometimes when they can’t sleep, they turn off their secular music and turn on Commissioned. They know things about Christ because of the lyrics in your songs. Why is that important??? Listen to what these kids are listening to daily. It is so anti-Christ. So your ministry is reaching kids today. I don’t care about a concert. I don’t care about the novelty of Commissioned. That’s great. I care about y’all reaching a lost generation, and y’all coming together again to teach reconciliation, to teach the word in the same way y’all were commissioned to do back then. Y’all are still relevant, and people need your words more than ever. And to be honest, this looks to me like the devil destroying one of the most powerful tools that would touch generations. I know some of y’all so I’m not on either side. I’m on the side of please please please reconcile, and come back and give a word to this next generation. And NO there isn’t someone else that can take your place. The Gospel artists today need a word from y’all too. I hope y’all can get into a room, shout it out, box it out, pray it out and then resurface and teach the world about reconciliation and forgiveness. My 2 cents. Hope and pray every member reads this.

I want to ask the question, why is it that situations like this are only resolved when they have no choice but to come back together and reconcile, God Forbid if a tragedy happens. I don't claim that at all..... It is rare that ALL of the members in a group like this are still well and capable and have so much more to offer... That is rare to have that blessing...
I LOVE THIS MAN!!! His music was and is the sountrack of my childhood all the way till now. So blessed by his true gospel content music that doesn't change with worldly influences. I met him at the Commissioned Reunion Tour in 2001 and he was so nice. I'll never forget.

The announting that would fall when they sang in the Philly area was second to none! I could never get enough Commissioned. I pray for reconciliation because thats a Biblical principle.

Always Love to you Fred and all of the Commissioned family! I am a DIEHARD commissioned fan and been with them since the release of the first album when I was in middle school in the early 80s. This feels like watching all my uncles have a disagreement over a family issue, and me being the nephew not understanding it all, but knowing at the end of the day they really all love each other. I feel like the nephew that knows not to intervene and mind my business and stay seated on the couch, but want to help...LOL All joke aside, let one them be in a real touch LIFE situation, they still would be there for each other because the "Commissioned" name and mandate is bigger than the issues currently going on. The FRUIT that has come from each of them and the COMMISSIONED vision out ways any issue they have with each other and they are working through. I can't imagine my life without Commissioned! If you really listened, the music tells you who did and was what in Commissioned. Fred is just confirming it and bringing balance to the what, when, how and why of the story they've told which i actually have yet to hear. I don't know that i want to hear that podcast. Aside from Parkes Stewart, i found Karl & Mitchell's appearance on R&B Money sonewhat embarrassing. But what the OG 6 did together will never be duplicated. The music speaks for itself. Commissioned was ok after Fred left. Though Michael Brooks left, Fred kept the group together. Process of elimination, I think Fred’s gripe is with his former best friend, Mitchell Jones. Not for certain but it seems that way. I mean there are only two people that now own the name Commissioned-Karl Reid and Mitchell Jones. But like Fred said, the original SIX was special. At the end of the day I think Fred just wants respect on his name. Not platitude, but true respect. They are diminishing his contribution and he’s calling them out on it. For what it’s worth we can now introduce our kids and grandkids to one of the greatest gospel groups that was ever created. #Commissioned
I thought he was clashing more with Karl but you could be right about it being Mitchell. I am glad tho, that Mitchell allowed Fred to sing at his wife's funeral.
Michael Brooks wrote most of those songs on the albums from day one. The sound took a big hit when he left. Keith Staten held the tenor down in the background which gave them a unique sound. The Gospel sound came from Brooks and Staten, the R&B sound came from Fred Hammond and Mitchell Jones. Together the harmonies were rich and different than most groups.

I’m about to turn 60. I raised my children on Commissioned..when they broke up.. I still feel some sort of grief at the very thought. I have all the albums and still play them faithfully…Fred, I miss all of you together. But I understand no matter what the outcome..inner peace always
Sometimes it’s as simple as an honest conversation with all parties. Key word, honest! We should never choose sides because we weren’t there and we don’t know. Listen to their music and be inspired to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
As a lifelong Commissioned fan, I was skeptical that the sound would still be there without Fred. But I was surprised by how good the '96 "Irreplaceable Love" album was, and I thought the '99 "Times and Seasons" album was different, but still good. So they can do it... but it's just different without the vocals of Fred. That said, Fred is the Swiss Army knife of vocalists, you can put him anywhere and it's gonna be 🔥. Whether it's the United Tenors, or this new group with Marcus and Keith, I will support it because I know the music and the project will never cheat me. Continued success to all the brothers...

I would listen to commissioned CD's and Fred Hammond CD's as a kid in the 90's and noticed a couple songs were on each LP, I thought it was weird as a kid, but as an adult I'm like - I'd love to hear the story behind that.
I don’t know anything about this drama. All I know is Commissioned was like our New Edition for church kids like me. I still will bump those songs. Just hit after hit. I freaked out when that first reunion album happened! I hope y’all can settle any differences.

Commissioned music gave birth and shaped so many singing groups musically in my country (Uganda). We used to write our music and arrange our harmonies just like commissioned.
With all respect to all the members of commissioned over the years but we all know there is no Commissioned without Fred. Nodody is going to a concert if Fred ain't on the flyer. Hope this works out because Commissioned was a life changing group and iconic to the music industry not just gospel. Don't know all the details and it's not my business. However, I pray every member sees this is bigger than themselves. Want to see another reunion but if not you guys have made your mark in the earth. As a commissioned fan and a Fred fan I look at one observation on one side commissioned since 96 ( with out Fred take out the reunion albums) only have two…TWO releases since Fred left irreplaceable love and time and seasons Fred like 15 albums released from then till now only Keith staten and Marvin sapp have had any real success as well as bishop brooks as a producer God loves everyone involved but it looks to me that somebody needs to pray so that God can show them the truth about the situation and themselves

Always Love to you Fred and all of the Commissioned family! I am a DIEHARD commissioned fan and been with them since the release of the first album when I was in middle school in the early 80s. This feels like watching all my uncles have a disagreement over a family issue, and me being the nephew not understanding it all, but knowing at the end of the day they really all love each other. I feel like the nephew that knows not to intervene and mind my business and stay seated on the couch, but want to help...LOL All joke aside, let one them be in a real touch LIFE situation, they still would be there for each other because the "Commissioned" name and mandate is bigger than the issues currently going on. The FRUIT that has come from each of them and the COMMISSIONED vision out ways any issue they have with each other and they are working through. I can't imagine my life without Commissioned! I know others can relate...Thanks to all of them for their obedience.. Just felt like sharing this... All of this does effect Diehard fans as well.. LOL
Fred… you’re human and you are not wrong. I have been a fan of the group since I was 13 and no “group” is in existence without disagreements. I pray for your healing as well as the other members that may have felt they were wronged. The blessing out of all of this is that you are all alive and well, and forgiveness can still be given/received. Healing can still take place for all members. There is too much money on the table. Y’all made MAGIC.

If you really listened, the music tells you who did and was what in Commissioned. Fred is just confirming it and bringing balance to the what, when, how and why of the story they've told which i actually have yet to hear. I don't know that i want to hear that podcast. Aside from Parkes Stewart, i found Karl & Mitchell's appearance on R&B Money sonewhat embarrassing. But what the OG 6 did together will never be duplicated. And I thank all of you as well as the additional members for your contribution to Commissioned!

In fact, Montrell was done wrong to be such an integral part of the album he was on and not be pictured on it is shameful. That speaks volumes to whoever the leader of the group was then. I believe the others want to stay connected to a TIME and sound that has since progressed and you can never get back. I do pray for all of them but just my thoughts......

The music speaks for itself. Commissioned was ok after Fred left. Though Michael Brooks left, Fred kept the group together. Process of elimination, I think Fred’s gripe is with his former best friend, Mitchell Jones. Not for certain but it seems that way. I mean there are only two people that now own the name Commissioned-Karl Reid and Mitchell Jones. But like Fred said, the original SIX was special. At the end of the day I think Fred just wants respect on his name. Not platitude, but true respect. They are diminishing his contribution and he’s calling them out on it. For what it’s worth we can now introduce our kids and grandkids to one of the greatest gospel groups that was ever created. #Commissioned
They were decent after he left. But they were clearly running out of ideas without him.
I thought he was clashing more with Karl but you could be right about it being Mitchell. I am glad tho, that Mitchell allowed Fred to sing at his wife's funeral.
Michael Brooks wrote most of those songs on the albums from day one. The sound took a big hit when he left. Keith Staten held the tenor down in the background which gave them a unique sound. The Gospel sound came from Brooks and Staten, the R&B sound came from Fred Hammond and Mitchell Jones. Together the harmonies were rich and different than most groups.

I’m about to turn 60. I raised my children on Commissioned..when they broke up.. I still feel some sort of grief at the very thought. I have all the albums and still play them faithfully…Fred, I miss

Sometimes it’s as simple as an honest conversation with all parties. Key word, honest! We should never choose sides because we weren’t there and we don’t know. Listen to their music and be inspired to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
As a lifelong Commissioned fan, I was skeptical that the sound would still be there without Fred. But I was surprised by how good the '96 "Irreplaceable Love" album was, and I thought the '99 "Times and Seasons" album was different, but still good. So they can do it... but it's just different without the vocals of Fred.
That said, Fred is the Swiss Army knife of vocalists, you can put him anywhere and it's gonna be 🔥. Whether it's the United Tenors, or this new group with Marcus and Keith, I will support it because I know the music and the project will never cheat me. Continued success to all the brothers...

I would listen to commissioned CD's and Fred Hammond CD's as a kid in the 90's and noticed a couple songs were on each LP, I thought it was weird as a kid, but as an adult I'm like - I'd love to hear the story behind that.

Commissioned served its time back in the “I’m going on in the name of the lord” days, now it’s time to move forward and live on in the latter parts of our lives. Make sure your heart stays right (which it appears to be based on this interview), and continue to wish “those that despitefully misuse you…..and your name”. Commissioned music gave birth and shaped so many singing groups musically in my country (Uganda). We used to write our music and arrange our harmonies just like commissioned.
With all respect to all the members of commissioned over the years but we all know there is no Commissioned without Fred. Nodody is going to a concert if Fred ain't on the flyer. Hope this works out because Commissioned was a life changing group and iconic to the music industry not just gospel. Don't know all the details and it's not my business. However, I pray every member sees this is bigger than themselves. Want to see another reunion but if not you guys have made your mark in the earth. Lastly, I won't be at any concert if Fred not there. 😊 it would be like going to a Gladys Knight and the Pips concert and Gladys not there or Debarge without El, Jackson Five without Michael. As a commissioned fan and a Fred fan I look at one observation on one side commissioned since 96 ( with out Fred take out the reunion albums) only have two…TWO releases since Fred left irreplaceable love and time and seasons Fred like 15 albums released from then till now only Keith staten and Marvin sapp have had any real success as well as bishop brooks as a producer God loves everyone involved but it looks to me that somebody needs to pray so that God can show them the truth about the situation and themselves
