Hi Howard. Thanks for posting. I like your prove the basics first, and the bells and whistles come later approach. Nothing like a strange machine to pique your interest.
@bobm6016 thanks, I'm just doing enough to get it to move on its own for now so it's "jungle basics" all the way! It weighs 2¼ tons and is a massive pian in the a*** to pull around. A full restoration will be forthcoming but not for quite a while yet...... Thanks for watching 🙏
Must have been 24v system with all that battery space or maybe just extra storage? Also 06:37 its nice to see the spiders from my Rolls-Royce have moved house.
@@life_on_cars or a very big 12 volt, I'll get a wiring diagram at some point. The starter is definitely 12 volt, so I presume the gen is too, it all looks very original. Yes, I never noticed it until I edited the vid 🕷️🕸️
I think there is a piece missing from the hole in the clutch arm that clamps the cable. I have a feeling looping the cable through the hole was a quick fix and the correct clamp discarded at some point but of course nothing is a temporary fix if it works.
I've got an original parts list for it now, courtesy of an ex-colleague, and it shows a clevis at both ends, which is what I would have expected. I will reinstate that set up when it's fully restored, but don't hold your breath for that! 🤣
Is the ignition switch cav? just asking as i was wondering if thats as dismantleable as those other switches so the key barrel can be taken out for getting a new key cut or run the switch without the key barrel.
@@stevehill4615 hi, I think it is a Lucas switch, but it's worth looking into to see if it's possible to dismantle it. I think all it does is switch the battery voltage to the starter button and all the lighting, horn and wipers, I'm pretty sure the heater has a permanent live from the starter via the regulator. I'm sure I can either find another or modify this one in the future when it gets a full strip down 🤞🤞 Thanks for watching 🙏
