An observation comparing the MMB, the Ohio State band, and the Wisconsin band (with no disrespect intended toward any of the named bands). Wisconsin appears to have a band with high energy/low precision band. Ohio State appears to have a high precision//low energy band. Take Wisconsin’s high energy and combine it with Ohio State’s precision and you get the MMB. (Side note: I am one of the RARE Buckeye fans willing to publicity say I find the bands from both Ann Arbor and Columbus equally entertaining).
As a proud Spartan alumn, I can say that Michigan's band is definitely one of the top tier bands in the country. I will also say that the Buckeye band has been nothing but disrespectful during game play at Spartan Stadium.
How is it that my University can only post events that are so old they are no longer relevant. I follow the bands websites and still can’t see more currently posts. Is it appropriate to say, the Band needs a better publisher!
+jj578297 Indeed! They sure would have been helpful by supporting the football team at the Utah game. It just costs sooooo much to send them on the road.
+jj578297 They don't go to every game. They didn't go to Rutgers, they never go to Indiana, Purdue or NW. OSU will bring their band when it's a huge nationally televised game. Every now and then a group of OSUMB alum's will travel together for road games.
Comparing ONLY the marching bands, OSU's band & the MMB each have aspects I like and aspects I dislike. Positives first: OSU has the fact they are the largest all brass & percussion band in the world & MMB tends to get the crowd pumped up during pregame. Negatives: OSU tends to be bland during pregame (save Script Ohio) & MMB's marching style during their entrance onto the field is something I can't grasp (same goes for Wisconsin and NW).
Some could argue that the OSUMB is more musical than MMB. I suppose the major differences on pregames is the OSU's follows traditions from the 20s and 30s and MMB uses traditions from the Revelli 50s era.
I can never hear the other teams fight song. All I can hear is, "We salute the [team name]" and "BOOOOOOO!!" The Michigan Marching Band used to do more to salute the visiting team (as seen in the old videos). Other than this, I think the MMB is awesome. I would love to watch the band perform in person.
I watched it in person from the inside out..try outs..practice all week for Saturday's program..it was a life experience trust me..cornet..member MMB 1955!!
You know, I'm kinda bored. The band sounds good enough, but it's not really rousing. The majorettes and flag corps were terrific. And that "M" is ugly.
Watching old Marching band videos to pass time before the new season. Can’t wait to see them live this year!
I was hoping to see them this year too.
This band is so dedicated and such great performers. I have loved them since the 60's and still love them and get goose bumps when they perform.
So cute and so adorable that you guys did us Utah fans
I’m so ready for football GO BLUE

to the extent where they attempt to play over a Spartan touchdown.
I can say that, Ohio state university is the trashy team of the big10
Jon Favil So say we all!
@@Rouge_Wings the buckeyes are nothing but disrespectful to both teams defenses when they play every year as well LMFAO
I saw them perform in Berkeley many years ago, and at the 1978 Rosebowl.
From Lansing Michigan sorry Sparty it is hail to the victors . GO BLUE FOREVER 1#

it would be nice if the band actually traveled to places besides the usual osu/msu/nd.
+jj578297 Indeed! They sure would have been helpful by supporting the football team at the Utah game. It just costs sooooo much to send them on the road.
+ikarooz ohio state sends theirs everywhere. They went all the way to Cal last year and they went to virginia tech. If they can do it, so can we.
+jj578297 Cal? They went to freakin' London, UK lol

+TheRodFarva this year the band is literally going to zero away games though. Inexcusable if you ask me.
YAY BELLEVILLE MI REPRESENT
Wait, so what school does the Spartan Band represent?
+zakattack1945 Michigan STATE University
+ikarooz Then what's the other Michigan? The Wolverine ones?
+zakattack1945 Yes, The University of Michigan Wolverines. GO BLUE
J. Cee
So Michigan State University and University of Michigan are different...
Damn this gets confusing..
+zakattack1945 They are in the same US state, different schools...about 65 miles apart.
M GO BLUE
It would be even better if the band released some videos of the more recent years. 2013 & 4 are getting rather stale.
GO BLUE1# AND HAIL TO THE VICTORS!!!
ALWAYS GO BLUE! BEST BAND IN THE LAND

Go blue
This isn't 2015? Where's the current MMB?
+Thomas Huffmaster There hasn't been a home game yet. There's only been the game at Utah.
"We salute the Utes of Utah!" *band actually salutes* "BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!"
nothing will ever beat TBDBITL! Ohio State is so much better.
I agree
You be on the wrong site bucky
Nerdddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd!

Pregame is a little boring. Just an m moving around
A band is not about what they do, it's about how and what they play..
@Brian Hett: What a douche bag!
That’s typically what a pregame is.
Go band go
