No. I'm allowed to criticize because I've been to this restaurant for years and it has set a standard for the quality of food it produces. +Lochness A meal prepared by a chef is absolutely comparable to music prepared by an artist in that they are both forms of art subject to criticism by everyone, even people that couldn't do better. My point was that "Stop criticizing and go make something better yourself" is a stupid argument when someone says they find a song terrible, especially when they're familiar with, and appreciate, the rest of the artist's body of work.
+Daniel Thomas Where you are missing the difference, is that some artists make music for themselves, and they know some fans might not like their change but it's not their art. Personally I don't think Deron or CKY (his band) for that matter has ever been the kind of artist that doesn't make music for themselves. Regardless of what criticism they get for it I'm pretty sure if a chef (like Deron in this case) made art for themselves you wouldn't be enjoying it right? They would. its really sad how deron sounds really different from the time original cky broke apart. some people said that it was all chads doing, postproduction of deron vocals and i think they are right, they said that chad always brought derons vocals like half step or whole note down, so his voice was deeper and it made that classic cky sound. and probebly correction of false notes. because everything deron sings after he left cky sounds like completly different person (this, foreign objects, 96 bitter beings band etc) sounds like all of a sudden he cant sing and he has higher voice. some youtube user tried test and it really works, he took derons newer song and dropped it half tone down or whole tone and guess what, it sounds like old deron, you can find it on youtube... its really sad cause i like derons music but his vocals... he really needs to get some vocal teacher and mostly some good producer who will produce his vocals and say to him, deron not like this, its not good, cause most of his new stuff sounds like he just record it on first try and thats it, no correction, nothing, it doesnt sound good, im sorry..... i just hope they got better production and some producer for synergy restored, cause camp pain doesnt sound so good

I love this song, but why are the vocals in this version so bad? It sounds like the average person singing along with their favorite song in their car when no one else can hear them.
Not saying this version is bad since Derron obviously wrote this song himself before it was a cky song. I just think his vocals could have used cleaning up in a studio. This just sounds way too raw.
I hate that this song reminds me of my first love cause we bonded over it, and the same love I’d like to forget despite knowing I’ll never be able to. Closure would be nice, but I still wish her the happiness I could never give.
Deron I think you're wasting your talent by not making another album with CKY. But that's just my opinion. Good luck to you whatever you do and thanks for the great music hopefully we'll see much more in the future.
wasting his talent ?! have you heard the world Under blood album ? it's the very best melo death album of all time ! better than anything he has done in CKY, except for the song 96 bitter beings which i think is also a masterpiece.

Great video... Yeah, it's basic, but it's suitable for the song... This is how I imagined the video from CKY before I saw actually saw it. Kudos Deron!
I will be another one to chime in and say Jesus Christ man, do more than one take of your vocals!! Use some Autotune, whatever. 'Acoustic' isn't synonymous with 'rough as fuck'. You can and should polish it. And what's with the hair? Auditioning for Breaking Benjamin or one of those other bands you claim to hate?
Deron, I don't know if you'll ever read this but I've genuinely listened to this song 100+ times. Same with the CKY discography. Always by my side. Thanks for everything you do. I'll be passing this music onto my little nephew (he's 4) as he always takes note of what I play. Bless you and your family!
Hope Deron is alright, Close yet far is one of my favorite songs. Apparently I reminded my friends of CKy and Deron back in their heyday 2000s. But I'm a girl. Be ok Deron, miss your music!
Picky? It sounds like shit and I will call it out. Just trying to make more money. Let someone else cover the song and ruin it! Not an original member.
Yea because having an opinion on music is so fucking harsh, right? This song is one of my all time favorites and personally, I think this sucked but I wanted it to be so good. I think we all did :\
Ah Deron singin my thoughts you, oh and depression brought me here, pretty much everywhere but music brought me to the other side, and into a circle of friends. Just turned 40, cant tell you what CKY and your riffs, lyrics mean to this man
I was able to see them once back in my high school days. Was able to help a cute friend get into some new music. Took her to the concert and had a good time. Shit time fuckin flies. That was in 05. Stay safe everyone.
thank you for the beautiful piece... close yet far is a complicated tune... ive always wondered how it would sound when someone else is playing it... 4 years it took me to find this (from upload), and its totally by accident... ive always loved cky... always will... but you sir, are worthy :)
I think this is funny. The close ups of him singing and the funny faces. lol Deron is the real deal. He carried CKY for all these years. He is the mastermind behind the whole thing.
Original was immeasurably better than this. Although, this video did help me figure out exactly how to play it, which is something I’ve wanted to know ever since I first heard the original like so many years ago I couldn’t even guess at an approximate number. Then I made a cover video of it. So for that, I’m happy about the existence of this...
Man it would be great if CKY could put their problems aside and have one more run with Deron. More than likely wont happen just like Jello and the Dead Kennedys.
Dear Deron, this video clip smells just like a little, you wrote a masterpiece. I please you to release a "pure folk" version, without any effect, of this song
I'm commenting on an old video, but the only reason I hate this version, is because it's so profoundly painful. The album version is heavy enough, but this is an entirely different level.
No offense to Deron cause I think he's a great musician but honestly the original CKY version was far superior to this. Don't know what happened to his voice but he's not hitting those notes like he used to although the guitars and everything still sound good.
This was one of my favorite cKy songs and I just came across this....this is not good. Sounds like he doesn't have much of a voice anymore...which is a bummer bc I always liked his sound. The original is soooo much better. Sorry dude.
Loved this so much Deron! Been a fan since the beginning and still have a letter I sent you, plus your letter back and my autograph framed! As a 28 year old who fell in love with you when Landspeed came out, you shaped my love not only for music, but for art in general. And I could never repay you for that and only want to hear as much as I can from you going forward!!!!! Alliance!
i think that this song and this video are symbolic and they reflect a little bit of derron journey. he always gave everything to his projects, but somehow he always ended up felling alone with a empty bottle, unrecognized, sometimes without the real support from his friends. this is the struggle of every artist, he's a genius. derron is that person that feels the music for what it is. every note and every word. the rest are just playing for the fans, randomly. he plays for himself, since the beginning. i love the 'rough vocals' just because you all hate it. music is concept. if you dont understand the concept then you dont like the music. keep it up derron!!! the mirror doesn't look like them I guess it never will!!!
He's a genius in the same sense that Chad Kroeger is a genius in making perfect radio rock Get the fuck over yourself. He's good at making things sound better than they really were, actually no, that was Chad, and now without Chad, you can hear how shit it really is.
Deron still gives everything... Meanwhile these warped tour hangers-on are still clinging to a person who has been struggling with their self... It's sad, but true, at the end of the day, that's the only person you have to answer to, yourself.
@@Fromagreatheight And without Deron, you can hear show shit CKY is. Chad may have made Deron's stuff sound better, but Deron made Chad's shit sound better too. And gave it a direction.
Wish Deron was still fronting the band :( this song alone, with the addition of this awesome acoustic cover, got me through so much... I just want Deron to know that \m/

You can and should polish it. And what's with the hair? Auditioning for Breaking Benjamin or one of those other bands you claim to hate?
lol jesus that's a fucking scathing burn
Deron, I don't know if you'll ever read this but I've genuinely listened to this song 100+ times. Same with the CKY discography. Always by my side. Thanks for everything you do. I'll be passing this music onto my little nephew (he's 4) as he always takes note of what I play. Bless you and your family!
"Drop Me A Line And Tell Me How The Hell You Are"
So Stoked That CKY Is Touring Again !!!!!
26 year old woman here. This feels like home 💔
This was hard to watch
Hope Deron is alright, Close yet far is one of my favorite songs. Apparently I reminded my friends of CKy and Deron back in their heyday 2000s. But I'm a girl. Be ok Deron, miss your music!
He got a new band and they kick ass.
"96 bitter beings*
Some of you guys are so picky.
Picky? It sounds like shit and I will call it out. Just trying to make more money. Let someone else cover the song and ruin it! Not an original member.
Don't you mean piCKY?
Yea because having an opinion on music is so fucking harsh, right? This song is one of my all time favorites and personally, I think this sucked but I wanted it to be so good. I think we all did :\
@@travie__ LOL
CKY needs Deron and Deron needs CKY
Ah Deron singin my thoughts you, oh and depression brought me here, pretty much everywhere but music brought me to the other side, and into a circle of friends. Just turned 40, cant tell you what CKY and your riffs, lyrics mean to this man
I was able to see them once back in my high school days. Was able to help a cute friend get into some new music. Took her to the concert and had a good time. Shit time fuckin flies. That was in 05. Stay safe everyone.
From 2003 till 2007 was my best years
Why so much dislike to this song why I ask....
Love it
thank you for the beautiful piece... close yet far is a complicated tune... ive always wondered how it would sound when someone else is playing it... 4 years it took me to find this (from upload), and its totally by accident... ive always loved cky... always will... but you sir, are worthy :)
Lmao I guess you did not realize this is the old singer of cky.
I think this is funny. The close ups of him singing and the funny faces. lol Deron is the real deal. He carried CKY for all these years. He is the mastermind behind the whole thing.
Such an underrated artist
Original was immeasurably better than this. Although, this video did help me figure out exactly how to play it, which is something I’ve wanted to know ever since I first heard the original like so many years ago I couldn’t even guess at an approximate number. Then I made a cover video of it. So for that, I’m happy about the existence of this...
how does this not have a 1,000,000 plus views??
because it's fucking gay
+From A Great Height lmao!!!!
Man it would be great if CKY could put their problems aside and have one more run with Deron. More than likely wont happen just like Jello and the Dead Kennedys.
The Haters are just reminding you that you're doing it right bro!!! Keep it Up Deron!!! fuck em\m/
Wild on a 12
Dear Deron, this video clip smells just like a little, you wrote a masterpiece.
That strange drum beat in background is shit... Song is really cool, great acoustic version on rarities, but this.. eh
If I could hear a new album from my generation it would be you deron Best memories I had was and still cky
Fantastic song. That kick drum is horrendous.
WTF? Why would you ruin such a beautiful song?
Shits hitting hard today
Fuckin' Awesome!! Takes me back to my teenage years
True colors cyndi lauper. It's the same.
i want a cky unplugged
Fuck all you guys dumping on this version of Close... this is great.
This was one of my favorite cKy songs and I just came across this....this is not good. Sounds like he doesn't have much of a voice anymore...which is a bummer bc I always liked his sound. The original is soooo much better. Sorry dude.
WtF happened at 1:50...?
lmao right!
Clash N Ears hahahahahahha!!!!!
More like WTF happened from 0:00 - 3:57
I didnt know he could play with more then 3 strings....
I love this so much. such a special and soulful version of the CKY classic.
Hit like you want a.CKY reunion.!! Ffs.
Beautiful song
Man . up! Reunite CKY!!. grow up. Man up. You like 50.now
Get over your. 20yr ego. The fans want lt many more than you know.
This is a 10 year old video lmao
Loved this so much Deron! Been a fan since the beginning and still have a letter I sent you, plus your letter back and my autograph framed! As a 28 year old who fell in love with you when Landspeed came out, you shaped my love not only for music, but for art in general. And I could never repay you for that and only want to hear as much as I can from you going forward!!!!! Alliance!
he has to be joking
Singing high notes may not be suitable for your voice. It sounds like you have a difficult time reaching them. Not hating, just observing.
Oof love this song but some of those vocal notes are... Rough...
What a song blew. Me away first listen
Does deron look like danger Erin here or does danger Erin look like deron?
now that I can't remember how old I am anymore I've really acquired a taste for this version.
It's like the song is meant for cky breaking up in a way
Deron was ckys voice I miss you dude
CKY isn't the same with out you dude. I hope one day you can all reunite. Reunite for the Jackass 4 movie... Reunite for Dunn 🤘
Don't hold your breath...
Superb writing and guitar work . Simply masterful
This makes me cry 😭. 💕💕💕
derons awesome acting skills really shine hear..
Please make more music I miss you bro
He can do it.
This sounds better than the original
i think that this song and this video are symbolic and they reflect a little bit of derron journey. he always gave everything to his projects, but somehow he always ended up felling alone with a empty bottle, unrecognized, sometimes without the real support from his friends. this is the struggle of every artist, he's a genius. derron is that person that feels the music for what it is. every note and every word. the rest are just playing for the fans, randomly. he plays for himself, since the beginning. i love the 'rough vocals' just because you all hate it. music is concept. if you dont understand the concept then you dont like the music. keep it up derron!!! the mirror doesn't look like them I guess it never will!!!
He's a genius in the same sense that Chad Kroeger is a genius in making perfect radio rock
Get the fuck over yourself. He's good at making things sound better than they really were, actually no, that was Chad, and now without Chad, you can hear how shit it really is.
slowslugslayin' you couldn't have said it better
Deron still gives everything... Meanwhile these warped tour hangers-on are still clinging to a person who has been struggling with their self... It's sad, but true, at the end of the day, that's the only person you have to answer to, yourself.
@@Fromagreatheight And without Deron, you can hear show shit CKY is. Chad may have made Deron's stuff sound better, but Deron made Chad's shit sound better too. And gave it a direction.
Å
Wish Deron was still fronting the band :( this song alone, with the addition of this awesome acoustic cover, got me through so much... I just want Deron to know that \m/
What fucking boyband has this type of melody in it?? It sound so fucking familiar to a boyband track but can't place my fucking finger on it! HELP!!! lol
also: awsum track!
PredakingHardcore CKY?
I always thought the intro sounded like True Colors by Phil Collins
Has similar notes to Summer Breeze by Seals and Crofts.
Right in the feels 💔
