  • It is never ideal to rewet you pots so you can work on them but we are human and it has happened to everyone. This does increase the chances that your pots will crack.
    In this video, we'll show you how to revive bone dry clay pots so you can trim add handles etc to them. If you've ever forgotten about a batch of pots and found them bone dry, don't worry! We've got you covered.
    First, we'll show you how to properly wet the pots using the right amount of water to avoid saturating the clay. Then, we'll cover how to wrap the pots to prevent them from drying out too quickly while they absorb the water.
    If you pots were bone dry you will need to repeat the process
    Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned potter, knowing how to revive bone dry pots is an essential skill. So, grab your pots and let's get started!

    I have done this with a couple pieces. Glad to know I’m not alone. Granted, my pieces had not go out of hard leather, but were close so I sprayed them with water from a spray bottle in order to maintain leather so I’d be able to trim at later date without losing them completely. I’ve been lucky not to have cracks.

    What happened to this . I need some suggestions for saving a piece I need to add leather hard to bone dry . I made a base of a vase too thin and need some guidance

      Controlling how fast your clay dries is so important. Leather hard is that last real chance you have to add on clay. It if is bone dry it will just fall off or crack later (most likely).
