We’re installing a propane fire pit on top of this big circle paver patio we built with some seat walls. It’s awesome but I got a little overzealous and offered to make all the connections(burner table, air mixer, 12ft flex line etc) BUT in the kitchen we ordered there is also the key valve AND a push button ignition face plate. I’ve never connected all that and apparently my company doesn’t touch even propane gas connections. We make them pay a plumber to do that part. So basically I over promised. Now I’m gonna do the connections because I sold it that way. I don’t know. Any idea on how to connect the ignition plate? Is there supposed to be another smaller gas line involved BESIDES the long flex line?THANK YOU 🙏

Our key feels like it’s not engaging when turning …. But we can hear suction when we pull key out…
We checked to make sure gas line is open…. We are 4 ladies trying to get it to turn open it doesn’t grab.
When her husbands comes here he can get it to start up right away… what are we doing wrong!??sorry if this is weird …. But I giggled key valve trouble shooting and only gas tank video pops up…. You were the only one that talked about it I could find!!!

I really enjoy all of your videos, they are very informative. I am going to build a big firepit next year and will purchase the kit from you. I know the time it takes to put these videos together and I really appriciate the effort, as well as the clear and common sense approach of the content!

Do I need a bowl for my fire ring or can it sit on crushed stone and lava rocks? Do I need a face plate for the key valve? It will be a natural gas firepit sitting on a concrete patio. What about drainage? I have a kit for a 200Kbtu. How far out of the ground should the gas line stand? 🤪

We have an existing paver fire pit that we'd like to add gas to. What size hole do I need to drill to install the key valve?

Is this just for gas from house(natural) and not used for propane?

How do the electronic ignitions work? Is there an external control? They dont really explain on their website other than there is a remote available.

Thanks for the informative video. Earlier today my gas key valve broke and I couldn't find anyone to fix it. Plumbers said they only fix gas lines.
Who should I need to contact to get it fixed?
    Thanks!

    Hello, nice videos!!
It’s ok to used a gas flex line from Home Depot for my fire pit? The yellow one. Do I need the bypass valve that come with it? What about a regulator ?
    Thanks a lot

antonio cianciardo Thanks very much. The yellow gas lines from HD are not recommended as they may whistle with the gas going to the burner. Propane requires a regulator.

I have read several places that flex line should not be used for fireplace gas valves. What am I missing here?

There are yellow plastic flex lines that shouldn't be used. Here's some more info: montanafirepits.com/learn/#key-flex

devin berner No. this is only for the gas on/off and adjustment of flame.

Love your videos-Very helpful! We have a 250k BTU WT Crossburner for our 48" wide fire pit. It seems like the flames are not nearly as high/full as the ones on your video and we have to run it on high to even get close. Our installer put in a 1" line and our distance is about 70' including fittings. Thinking one of two things; line is too small or they put the reducer on it that your referenced in the video? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Also your lava granules trick- would that actually give you or hold more heat than all glass?

      @Montanafirepits  7 років тому

Andrea Lilley thanks for the question! Sorry you are not getting the full flame height. The burner will do it's thing provided it has the gas it needs. There is a direct correlation. Perhaps a larger line? There are several factors with each fire feature so it is tough to say. Sorry I can't give you a crystal clear answer.
Regarding glass, it will retain some heat yes. The trick is meant to save cost over just 4" of glass. Glass will retain some heat indeed. Careful not to bury the jets under too much rock.
I hope this helps. Thanks again!

Based on the NGas tables I have been seeing, if you are using Natural Gas, a 1" pipe, 70' run gives you ~149k BTUs... So... yes... it sounds like you need a 1 1/4" pipe... that bumps you up to ~317k BTUs... good for your 250k BTU pit.. To my LIMITED knowledge, it sounds like your current pit is starving for gas.. assuming Natural Gas... not completely aware of propane since I am doing a NG one for my yard soon...
